Let's not beat around the bush: there will be a PlayStation 4 Slim at some point. Of course, it's not something that anyone at Sony wants to talk about just yet, and PlayStation India boss Atindriya Bose is no different. Quizzed by Gaming Bolt about the possibility of a much smaller model, the suit said that the question was "too speculative in nature" and stressed that the company's going to "focus on the 1TB launch for now". Well, it was worth a shot, huh?
The suit also talked away any questions about Gran Turismo 7, which we know is in development. "Gran Turismo is a very important title," he said. "We have seen fantastic success with the last bundle that we did [for Gran Turismo 6] but beyond that I don't think that I can comment on its future." We reckon that the sequel will be revealed at Paris Games Week a little later in the year – especially seeing as Polyphony Digital has provisionally pegged it for a 2016 release.

It will be the only time I upgrade my ps4, bar my own console breaking down. I won't imagine we will be seeing it til late 2016 or early 2017.
Gt7 and uncharted 4 are the only games I'm looking forward to really.hope my driving force get wheel will be compatible with the ps4
@stevie85 sounds about right.
So this is a news article on absolutely no news at all?
Hmm, I reckon we will see the new PS4 slim in late 2016, as far as GT7, it's been cut to shift resources to Morpheus (ok, probably not, but c'mon Sony, Forza has been stealing GT's lunch money for sometime).
my thoughts exactly @sub12
From that angle it looks eerily like an Xbox One. I don't think the shading helps.
But, a PS4 slim would be nice. It's what I did with my PS3 (I refuse to call it slim, mind) and it was also obnoxiously expensive. I'll just be getting a 1TB PS4 since external HDD support is a foreign concept.
Fallout console, that's what we want.
Doubt it will be much slimmer unless they move the power brick outside.... It's a very small console already. A better fan and HDD would be nice.
1.5 tb, with 33% power saved and a similar size and I would be happy. I will pickup a revised model as the ps4 is boss.
@blah01 A better fan would sell me instantly. Mine sounds like a jet at times.
I just hope it isn't a piece of junk like the slim PS2 was.
@stevie85
Ye, indeed, it has to work hard inside such a small beautiful form factor.
Pity as it often breaks the immersion of a game - I start thinking about the nuts and bolts when it threatens to fly off...
Way too early for a ps4 slim
Does it need to be slimmer? I already have trouble finding the eject and power buttons since they're just little slivers in it's crack. Huh that's sounds funny.
I think its ridiculous to even speculate about if or when we will see the PS4 slim at this stage. The PS4 is already slim, aspecialty when compared to the XB1, or even the PS3 for that matter.
The PS4 architecture ie APU etc are based on on tablet and laptop technology which is pretty damn small already.
The bulk of the PS4 is the PSU, internal fans and BRDD.
I for one love the look of the PS4, as not only is it slim and sleek already, it actually looks next gen.
The only thing I would like to see sorted/fixed is the fan. I've noticed on several games that the PS4 can get pretty loud. If they can bring down the temperature of the APU that should sort out the fan issues.
Other than that, its perfect! Unless they can find a way to detract the dust instead of it being a dust magnet, but thats just wishful thinking
I need to hear PS4-level GT "bonk bonk bweeoosh" menu sxf soon.
@Neolit
I would rather deal with a little heat and an almost unnoticeable level of noise, the XB1 is an ugly console for 2013 (I can forgive the original Xbox), and there is a reason why I have my PS4 out in the open and my XB1 hidden from view, because the XB1 is obnoxiously dull and large.
Before we start worrying about a PS4 Slim how about worrying about firmware updates that actually add something of significance to the existing hardware, like you know, external hard drive support similar to what Xbox One has. No reason PS4 shouldn't have the same and I'm sick of the excuse for why it doesn't. Get the current model up to scratch then worry about revisions 2 or 3 years from now when the gen is approaching its latter stages.
I'm hoping for a 1 or 2 TB PS4 Slim release sometime in Fall 2016, but it's original MSRP would be $300 New, not $400 New.
GT7 pegged for 2016? We might see it in 2017 then. Might.
My PS4 stopped reading discs, so I hope they release a slim model next year. 2017 does seem more likely. Especially since the model out now is still selling great.
