There'll be no campaign for you if you choose to play Call of Duty: Black Ops III on the PlayStation 3, but anyone that opts for the PlayStation 4 version will be able to enjoy the full story experience. And according to Treyarch's boss Mark Lamia, it's the "most ambitious" that the team has ever undertaken – heck, that's evidenced by the f-bomb no more than 30 seconds into the clip.
"Black Ops III engrosses players in a dark and gritty future, where a new breed of Black Ops soldier has emerged, and the lines between humanity and military technology have been blurred," Lamia said on the PlayStation Blog. "You must navigate the hot spots of a new Cold War to find your missing brothers."
While the trailer looks like standard Call of Duty fare, the developer is changing things up significantly this time around. You'll be able to customise your own character, and team up with friends for four-player co-op. The environments will be bigger, the AI is supposedly better, and the whole thing's been built around replayability rather than disposability.
Whether the studio can keep all of those tenets intact and still tell an impactful story remains to be seen, but as the series' A-team right now, we have faith that it will deliver. I treat COD like Madden I don't get it every year and skip 1 to 3 games till I'm ready to play again. I might pick it up since it looks good.
May just leave it this year, getting a bit bored of the series.
Am I the only person who actually enjoys the campaign in COD more than the multiplayer?
@Anchorsam_9 Nope! I have played every campaign since CoD4 and will play this too. I can't say I look forward to the MP more than the Campaign or even Zombies - if anything I enjoy each part the same and for different reasons
