Dragon Quest Builders is going to sell a frightening number of copies in Japan when it launches early next year on every viable PlayStation platform, but its box art is a bit rubbish. Gematsu spotted the artwork on a Japanese product page, which sports a mixture of awesome main character sketches and a ClipArt-esque villain. It won't matter one jot, but coupled with the plain background, this cover's all a bit underwhelming, isn't it?
The block buster's due out in Japan on 28th January, with a Western release unconfirmed but expected at some point. What do you make of this box art? Build your opinion in the comments section below.

Guess they went for the child appeal??
I'm guessing it changes before it heads west. And not just the Japanse lettering, all of it. Looks like $5 bargain bin shovelware.
Lucky I don't buy games cos I want to look at the box
Seems they went full nostagia with this one. That's the original artwork from the last boss of the very first Dragon Quest there, DragonLord.

If they HAD to do this, they could have used his second form which is way cooler.
Looks fine to me, but chances are they will change it to look more appealing to the west.
If those two are the protagonist, I'm guessing you can't create your own character? Anyways, the cover art it looks alright to me. I have a feeling the West version would surely be more action-ny, though.
This jives with normal Japanese Dragon Quest box art. This series in Japan is like Grand Theft Auto in the States popularity-wise.
