Following in the footsteps of beefcake Zangief yesterday, Famitsu magazine has leaked the latest fighter to enter the Street Fighter V fray: Laura. This all-new challenger appears to be from Brazil, and comes with a vibrant outfit and cornrows. Judging by producer Yoshinori Ono's Twitter account, the character was set to be revealed at the Brasil Game Show next week, so we'll surely find out more then.
Judging by the screenshots, though, it's safe to say that the fresh arrival will be a fairly acrobatic attacker, using her speed and strength to get the upper-hand. One image shows her throwing a fireball, while in others she's shown climbing all over poor hapless Ryu as she lays the smackdown. We've included all of the images within this article, and we'll bring you more information on the challenger as it breaks.

I love the design. Awesome hair style.
Nice to see a new Brazilian fighter! This doesn't bode well for poor Blanka, though.
She looks pretty interesting. I'll have to see more before I decide on her though.
Yeah! I'm from Brazil so I'm more than happy that we got a normal character!! Amazing design by the way!
So is she Capcom's Eddy Gordo?
Also, insert obligatory "give-me-SFIII-characters" complaint.
@sinalefa
"Wow, this guy wants SFIII fighters, he probably knows a thing or 2 about fighting games I bet"
@sinalefa was thinking the same thing when I saw the first few screens
@get2sammyb yeah I love the model as well, makes me wonder (and hope a little) if Blanka will miss out on SFV
Looks cool but do they need to give every female fighter silly proportions.
@Jazzer94
Yes, they do, but look at the male characters, have you ever seen biceps 4 feet in circumference? People complain about big boobs, and yes, males don't have there man parts exposed, but that's because it's absolutely disgusting.....but reguardless, both sexes are portrayed in an outlandish manner.
Language -Tasuki-
Those things could be used as a weapon.
I don't understand in what wat she is sexualized i think men here are trying to make a big deal out of nothing.
Don't be a crybaby to the people here she looks hot they should be ashamed at Capcom...... Probably neer seen pretty athlethic women behoren.
@GlynCR Off topic but your picture is the best
can't see a single thing wrong with these proportions. There are many countries and females in the world where these type of proportion are the norm.
Now Chun Li's thighs, that's a different story lol
@TheMightyPunram @sub12 The male class is far more diversive in body types where as every female so far has huge knockers, just saying.
@@TomKongPhooey I'm not suggesting there is anything wrong with these kinds of proportions just that they could try to represent others more or at all.
@Jazzer94
You have bust for days Laura and Minka, toned as hell Cammy, thunder thighs Chun Li...........and properly dressed Karen.
@sub12 This is not toned down this is larger than it was in SF4.
Maybe she was just feeling a bit extra perky that day.
@Jazzer94 Oh I know your right, but right or wrong big boobs attracts male players and there are more male gamers than female( i would think anyhow). At the end of the day they are looking for the most sales and sex appeal sells video games. I don't think the Tomb Raider franchise would have been as popular or famous if It was a dude with a larger than normal crotch area. (The fact that these boobs are always programmed to bounce around like they are made of jelly also doesn't help.) It does however aid sales to the male gamer who like it or not like that type of gaming experience. It's the way of the world and I honestly can't see it changing because I can't see males changing. Programmers and male game makers included.
I myself favour a backside kinda gal but boobs are the main attraction to the male of the species and is what keeps men interested in women initially.
I know I'm gonna get slated for this post but I'm just saying how the world works. Honest.
imagine that EVERY male character had huge junk hanging and bouncing around. that would bother you wouldnt it? you would be thinking, why does every guy have to have that! so why is it ok the other way around? most guys think with their dicks because they dont have any brains or empathy. but on to the new character. besides her ridiculous outfit completely unfit to be fighting in she seems pretty cool. some people think that she will be a hybrid grappler which i REALLY hope IS the case. im hoping for more realistic alt outfits for her and mika as i want to use both but hate how they look. also i think capcom needs to stop catering to teenage boys and just really sit down and think really hard on character designs and try to do something original. there are a million old man martial arts masters, its time to see a strong old woman martial arts master. sorry for the rant but all of you pervs are coming out of the woodwork for this article.
Oh jesus, the SJW's smell blood. Looks above.
@Anchorsam_9 thanks we will need him!
Its also coming to Steam (PC)
@sinalefa Actually Blanka is SF answer to Eddy Gordo or rather Eddy is Tekken's answer to Blanka since SF II was first.
@TomKongPhooey: Actually nowadays there is an equal number of female gamers to male gamers. Not like say 25 30 years ago.
@Tasuki
I see Eddy as a capoeira fighter, which Blanka isn't but Laura seems to be. Blanka isn't even Brazilian anyway, as his ending implies. In fact Elena would be closer to Eddy in that regard.
@sinalefa Actually there is a ton of source material out there that states Blanka's style is capoeira, I think even in one of the instructions it says that he learned it from an old Brazilian master. Also look at Blanka's stance you can see its clearly inspired by capoeira. I think the main reason people don't see it as capoeira is because SF is mainly in 2D plus the restrictions on animations that the older hardware had compared to Eddy Gordo in a 3D environment on the Playstation makes people not realize that Blanka uses capoeira.
@Jazzer94 You find that huge good you dont life in holland then.
what is sjw anyway?
@Gmork___ Social Justice Warrior.
I'll be honest, I don't like T&A cheesecake either, but this is tame compared to some of the worst females in fighting games. Be grateful that she at least has pants. The problem should be if she's actually played for fanservice or not. Otherwise, the design alone isn't really bad.
@TomKongPhooey
Chun Li's thighs need their own game, sequel & turbo edition.
@Flaming_Kaiser Can't understand your comment can you rephase it, I feel like you're saying people in Holland have smaller breasts on average but I never said anything about preferences so why does that even matter?
@sub12 I really hate when people throw around the term sjw to dismiss a person opinion but don't actually provide counter points like you have just done above.
@Jazzer94
I really hate it that we live in a society that takes offense to everything, "ohh no, she has overly large breasts", cry foul and complain about the exploitation of women. The funny thing is 90% of women would look at such comments as being overly sensetive and whiney.
Reminds me of a female Sean from sf3 , so hyped for this game tbf
^ I thought of Sean too! Love her design anyway
@sub12 90% a figure pulled right out of nowhere with no backing which from the many females I've interacted with from different backgrounds and educations is definitely something I'd say is wrong, if anyone has acted sensitive and defensive it has been you (and I'm not saying this to be mean) and of cause society takes offence of pretty much everything because we all have different morals and opinions getting annoyed at that is asinine.
At this point we are going back and forth saying the same stuff again and again, all im going to say is we can just look at the male and female cast and easily see which is more diversive and with that I'm done.
@Jazzer94
Well, your 21, live a little, get in a few more relationships, and maybe you'll find out that you don't need to be so uptight about sexuality and the female form.
@Jazzer94 @sub12 OK that's enough you two. Knocked it off and play nice you two. Consider this a warning.
I'm done @Tasuki and honestly a bit disappointed.
@TomKongPhooey
Concerning gender, males and females split gaming almost equally. It's literally around 55~45%, and women over 40 vastly outnumber teenage males these days.
Not only is it sexist to continue making women all the same supermodel (or uncomfortable Lolita) characters to appeal to male fantasies, it's grossly unrealistic in attempting to appeal to mass audiences.
The new character looks interesting, but the over-emphasis on tits is sadly not a surprise from Capcom. The hair and face look fantastic.
At this point, Chun-Li is supposed to be in her 40's or 50's. They could at least acknowledge that. They made Ryu look a little older. Might as well do the same with her.
