So, that PlayStation 4 price drop's definitely coming – even if some conspicuous text on Target's website is not necessarily confirmation just yet. The retailer's currently advertising the console for $349.99, with the words "$50 price drop on the PS4" plastered in bold across the page. There's also a picture of the Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection bundle shown.
Click through, though, and you get a very different story. Target is offering $50 gift cards with two alternative $399.99 bundles, but the Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection package is still up for pre-order at full-price. So, what's going on? Well, the wording heavily implies that this is an official price drop rather than a promotion, so we reckon that the store's updated its website too early.
Considering that the platform's price was slashed by a similar amount across Asia earlier in the week, then it makes sense that the rest of the world would follow. One thing that is worth pointing out, though, is that the Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection bundle will be launching with a promotional price in the UK, so Sony may just be extending that offer to the US, too.
Oh, who are we kidding? The price is definitely going down before Christmas – we just need to wait for the manufacturer to officially confirm it. Any minute now...

I'm not lying, this is definitely making making me consider picking one up this holiday season. Granted, I don't have a lot of money, but Ill be working when I come home for fall and winter break so I can easily save up for it. I only wish it came with a physical release of the Uncharted collection.
$349 for the 500gb seems more than fair and we've actually seen way better deals. Just this weekend the 1TB PS4 sold on Amazon.de for €299, so if this continues there will be good times ahead. And I've heard that several big retailers have special "cash back actions" this fall with both MS and Sony giving them up to $50 for every unit sold, which these retailers use to drop the price, which is kinda the whole idea. If Sony then also lowers the RRP, things might get messy this holiday season with $299 bundles, store credit, extra games and what not.
Let the madness begin!
Wouldn't this just be a retailer-specific price drop, possibly only temporary as well? It's like how back in its first year of release, HMV cut the Wii U price by £100 ($150) because no one was buying it.
Is that a real Target ad? I've been following video game store ads for about 20 years and I can't remember ever seeing "price drop" like that. "$50 off" or "new lower price", but price drop looks really wierd. "on the PS4" looks weird too.
@rjejr It's a screengrab of the website. Still there, too: http://www.target.com/c/video-games/-/N-5xtg5?lnk=ct_menu_05_42&intc=1865091#
@get2sammyb I know it's on the website, but it's hard to take it seriously when you look at those list of games at the bottom - Kung Fu Panda on PS3, Prince of Persia on DS. It's like the page was put together as a joke by a 13 year old in their basement.
And why is Chibi Robo listed under "Rock out" w/ Rock Band 4? What connection can possibly be there?
@Boerewors I never thought of that, wow...though I'd rather wait until Fall 2016 for an official price drop to $300 New.
If this happens, hopefully it means Nintendo seriously considers a price drop on the Wii U to keep up with the other two who would be offering great value. A Wii U price drop would get me to re-buy one just to play Xenoblade Chronicles X.
Well, make it official so I can make it official. X1 is tempting me with that 1TB 3 game bundle.
@sinalefa And don't forget Scalebound.
@get2sammyb Just so you know, that link you sent me now shows Lego Dimensions. All the rest of the lame game selection is still the same though making it look more like a legit jumping of the proverbial gun.
I've already spent too much money this holiday - I have game boxes hiding all over my house or pre-ordered on Amazon - but I'll buy for $349 when Uncharted 4 comes out. I'll be shocked if they don't bundle that after Destiny, UC, CoD and SW:B. If $349 gets me the 1 $60 game I want a PS4 for I'll consider that a huge win. $399 w/ the collection.
More then likely a black Friday thing or their pulling a Microsoft and lowering the price for a time period to get more sales.
