Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection is not your average remaster. In addition to sprucing up the visuals, port house BluePoint Games has dug into the source code and manipulated the aiming algorithm in each included title in order to ensure that it's consistent across the board. But while we were quite happy with the default settings, some complained after the demo that the shooting wasn't snappy enough. Fortunately, a day one patch appears to have solved that.
While we'll leave Digital Foundry to explain the specifics of what's changed, things definitely do feel less sluggish now β though, as mentioned, we didn't find the default setup to be particularly problematic in the first place. The update β which weighs in at a whopping 1.02GB β also solves some shadow dithering issues, while allowing you to enter Photo Mode from behind cover. You still can't, however, take snaps while you're aiming, which is a bit of a shame.
Other than that, any other squashed bugs pertain to really minor things, like audio hiccups. There is mention of performance optimisations, but we've generally found the experience to be pretty darn smooth at 60 frames-per-second. Again, Digital Foundry will no doubt be whipping out its performance ticker if you're interested in that sort of thing. Will you be picking this compilation up this week? Pre-order is on its way whoo hoo!
I would give anything for BluePoint to be called on to remaster Mass Effect. It's never going to happen but a guy can dream.
I want it NOW!!!! I want the world, I want the whooole world. Give it to me!
I'm really excited. TLOUS was great at 60fps. I think games would be better if they sacrificed a bit of graphics for smoother gameplay. I wonder if uncharted 4 will be 60 or 30? Probably 30 with those graphics.
