The sooner that Media Molecule clears up exactly what Dreams is the better. During a stream earlier this week, the developer shared one of the first ever "dreams" created in the PlayStation 4 exclusive β and it's suitably bonkers. We see a polar bear and its baby walking towards the horizon, where the illuminati happen to be waiting. Bizarre.
While we still haven't the foggiest what this title is actually going to be β that should be cleared up at Paris Games Week next week β we reckon that it's a testament to the creativity of Sony as a publisher that it's ploughing millions of dollars into a release like this. Seriously, this is so out-there that it's in a different solar system.

Crazier than a box of frogs (mm please don't turn this comment into a dream)
I take this won't sell well since people want more cod than platformers and this its a shame really.
Not sure who this appeals to but good luck to MM/Sony, could be lightning in a bottle or just another creation game with overly complex tools.
Intrigued... But not a clue what this could be?!
It's MM, so my money's on it being fantastic whatever it is.
i hope its SUPER intuitive and easy/quick to turn your dreams into a reality but i kind of dont see that happening. i wonder if this will literally just be something to make little animated shorts. i dont think this will do well. im definitely intrigued but...geez...i just dont know. i agree with what someone said in one of the other news articles that MM need to clear up what this "game" is exactly or risk no one really caring. and if there is no "game" in this then i really cant see most people willing to shell out for this. i myself probably will ... maybe, but i like creating stuff. would be awesome if you can import your own music so we can make say a music video for our bands!
I'd enjoy making these, but I don't think I'd enjoy playing it to be honest. Also there was way too many feels in that bear dream.
I think there will be a base game in here with pre made stuff much like LBP. The good thing about those games are that if you don't like the creative side then you can still play other people's levels instead. I do wonder whether the game will adopt a F2P model because of the potential risk of not selling to a mass market.
I think this is basically a development tool for creating your own games and short movies. I wish we had this 20 years ago as it would have been a great platform that would incourage people like myself to get into games development.
A friend of mine has been working on creating an animated movie which has been taking a long time. He's hoping that Dreams will be good enough to help him realize his vision.
Im looking forward to seeing more of this at Paris Games week.
The bears should have offered the illuminati a coke!!
@WARDIE they had the software design tool that was available for the ps1, unreal editor 1 was free, music by codemasters, not to mention hundreds of assembly and utility tools. The problem I had is I'm pretty lacklustre at remembering code and need immediate results as my short term memory is the worst. So I can now make tunes using most programs (followed the music route - what a game!) but with programming code like c+ and ruby I hardly get passed hello world. I would also argue that the tools were always available as most of the big designers of today in their mid 40s plus were hobbyists turned game makers.
I wonder if Nintendo are going to charge them for putting a video on YouTube with the Triforce in.
I really don't see the point in this, I just hope it doesn't send MM into disarray like Driveclub did to ES
From what I understand, you can create games - it's not just movies. All will be revealed at Paris Games Week... Hopefully!
this gonna be the most niche thing on home console ever... I doubt who will buy this "thing"...
It's for commercial failure written all over it, but boy am I intrigued. I totally imagine this game being part of Morpheus' launch where I'm not only able to create, but also use it to "dream someone else's dream". Wouldn't it be awesome if I could walk around in something someone in Japan dreamt up?
It certainly gives you paws for thought.
@NomNom Seriously..
I want a Journey-esque game where you play as one or both of those bears in that world. I love bears.
@Doctor_BK what's wrong with getting emotionally attached to fictitious digitally generated bears?
@Boerewors that would be pretty amazing!!! im totally with you on that!
