Before its launch, Bethesda promised plenty of free updates for Fallout 4, and now that the game's been out for over a week, we're starting to hear how this is all going to work. Needless to say, the developer's now building future content, and the title's first patch should be releasing soon.
There's no word on what the initial update will contain, but the studio has revealed that it'll employ a system similar to what it did with The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Basically, patches will launch on PC first, where they'll be beta tested by willing users. When the testing period is over, Bethesda will then bring the finalised update to consoles. In theory, this may mean that some changes described in the beta patch notes may not actually be included in the finished PlayStation 4 update, but we'll have to see how it all works before jumping the gun.
So what would you like to see added to the game? Anything in particular, or are you just looking for bug fixes right now? Apply a stimpak in the comments section below.

Make settlement building optional with punishing the player for not doing it. It's boring. Apart from that the game is pretty sweet

Been hitting this game pretty damn hard and its a vast improvement on F3 and NV as far as glitches and bugs are concerned imo. Around 60 hours in at level 16 and it hasnt frozen on me yet which was always the biggest frustration for me. Still, any improvement and more content will go down well with this wastelander. Suprised my girlfriend is still around lol
@Mookau I enjoy it, but is it really that mandatory? Is it not feasible to just use the Red Rocket settlement as a strictly personal base and storage depot and ignore the rest?
@Mookau Thank god I'm not the only one who felt the same way.
Only complaint , shishkaba doesn't set people on fire anymore (till there dead anyways)..... but they did get rid of the stupid backpack and made it look cooler sooo...
I'd love to create and save separate armor sets as in Monster Hunter; I renamed things to find them easily, but it would be great to switch from a "high carisma set" to a "it's-shooting-time set" without selecting every time every single part.
Maybe a few free content update now and again like maybe new stat boosting items, mods, weapons, apparel. And of course quest fixes.
@Mookau That's already the case. Ignore the quests asking you to do settlement related stuff and do the ones you want to do, you won't miss out on anything story wise.
Just hit level 43 and still going strong. I have barely even touched the main missions.
They better not patch Lone Wanderer >: It gives you carrying capacity and huge damage and defense bonuses if you aren't travelling with a companion, but as of writing it still applies if you have Dogmeat with you. Not sure if it's an exploit or not, but I'd love to keep my dog and my buffs :3
@Mookau: Settlement building is completely optional. All you're missing are quest rewards from the Minutemen questline (which only requires you to free the settlements, not maintain them) and small bonuses for making settlements happy. I for one think it's a highlight of the game though, especially after investing in Local Leader (so you don't have to tote resources from one to the next).
I'm absolutely loving the game especially the crafting, I just need some more materials to build everything. Currently level 25, defeated one rather large boss near a castle which was tough.
I tend to leave my power armour at base, which caught me out when I was trying to get near the airport. I was walking through some town minding my own business when I caught site of something tall and fast. It was a Deathclaw, I was no match for it without my power armour, so was looking for an alternative street but all were blocked when I spied some super mutants. I went over and threw a molotov to get their attention and drew them out into a junction with me hiding nearby. After watching there confused little faces, I took my sniper rifle and shot the nearby Deathclaw bringing it towards the same junction. I briefly watched the ensuing battle with a huge smile before it dawned on me that the mutants had no more chance of surviving the attack than I would and that I would be next. So I waited patiently for an opening before making a run for it behind the Deathclaw towards freedom. Having realised that not only was I no longer sprinting and I wasn't dead, I turned to witness the end of the super mutants. The Deathclaw resuming its patrol as if nothing happened, I had a little laugh to myself at rhe carnage i had cause and continued on my merry way.
@TeslaChippie @Neolit @PorllM @Davidaramoose @JudasGoat or just murder all settlers
give us a way to compare equipment easily. let use talk to our companions and choose their disposistion. aggressive, calm (sick of them firing on an enemy i didnt want to engage) also the option to have your companion follow closely or from a distance (sick of them blocking doors)
One thing they definitely need to fix is Cambridge Police Station after you kill Kallogg. I cannot do any of the Cleansing the Wasteland or Quartermastery side quests for the Brotherhood of Steel because when I try to go inside, I either fall through the map when the interior loads, or if it does work, it renders the inside of the building and the frame rate drops to 0, pretty much like playing a slide show, and then the outside doesn't render at all.
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi You are the evil incarnate of the wasteland
@carlos82 that's a pretty rad story lol I had a strong meelee build so I've taken on death claws with just my electric sword and survived at around the same level. I named the sword, the push square sword. I'll post a picture when I get a chance. It's pretty nice. Deals electricity dmg on top of high attack damage. I also have kromith tooth* (name could be slighlty off) and Pickman's blade. All are great for ripping death claws apart.
@NomNom I'll have to see that, my melee damage is pathetic. Most of my points and personal are charisma and intelligence orientated, I was out scavenging at the time of my story so only had a pistol, sniper and some light armour. It can get me into trouble but I usually have quite a bit of fun trying to get out of it 😃
@carlos82 oh nice I try to carry light never works out, I'm a pack rat, I generally only keep two weapons, a sword and assault rifle, I really take advantage of layered armor. Gnok the barbarian's cloth is the bottom layer then I constantly change the layer plate each time I kill another legendary and get a better piece. I loot so much junk tho
@JudasGoat yeah thats exactly what Im doing
More options for sorting inventory would be nice, such as sorting notes and holotapes in order by acquisition, or sorting weapons by what ammo they use.
