Contrary to the brand new commercial, PlayStation 4 players don't dance around their memorabilia laden house to the sound of The Chemical Brothers – it's a lifestyle that we could only dream of. Living with Sony's new-gen system is a step forward from its predecessors, though, and we think that that's what the company is getting at with its latest advert. As such, we figured that it was worth padding out this dreary Friday afternoon with five reasons why the life of a PS4 player is wonderful. You can't beat a bit of filler content, eh?
Software selection is stellar
We know it's become a meme at this point, but we can't help but shake our heads when people criticise the PS4's software lineup. Through a combination of first-party and third-party, the system has virtually every genre checked, and its selection is only going to get more diverse as we approach 2016. Sure, there could have been more exclusives for the console at this stage, but next year's looking like a real return to form in that department. And even though not every game's a knockout, we have to acknowledge the unparalleled indie support, which has served up surprise hits such as Rocket League and many more.
Remote Play absolutely rocks
Alright, the PlayStation Vita's been in better shape, but it's still a system worth owning – especially if you have a PS4. Remote Play was a feature that was flaunted fairly heavily at launch, but it seems to have fallen off the radar a little of late. But with Fallout 4 featuring a fantastic control scheme, and every PS4 game sporting the streaming feature in some regard, it's worth remembering just how awesome Remote Play really is. After all, anything that lets us complete our Destiny daily bounties in bed is a-okay in our book.
The little things
We love the PlayStation 3 here at Push Square Towers, but returning to it can be tough once you've so much as tasted the PS4. Sony's new-gen system is incredibly efficient in the patching and installing department, ensuring that you can actually play your games in record time. But it's more than that, because the box is pretty darn slick across the board: catch-up services are plentiful, the user interface is incredibly intuitive, and the DualShock 4's an enormous leap forward in almost every regard. As Kitty Kallen once sang, little things mean a lot.
Keep friends, those you love, close to you
In an age where smartphones are ubiquitous and social networks dominate our lives, the PS4 really keeps you connected to your friends. Whether you're forming a party to play Call of Duty: Black Ops III or passing the controller to your Australian relative with Share Play, the console makes it really easy to stay in touch. You can even keep tabs on your favourite developers and find likeminded friends with the Communities feature. And if you're reading this, may we recommend that you give the Push Square group a look?
Sharing is caring
It may not seem like much on the surface, but the share button is the biggest innovation of this generation. While the PC has made it possible to capture screenshots and video clips in the past, Sony's game DVR functionality makes it effortless, and it's so well integrated into social media that every achievement, Trophy, and glitch can be easily shared with your friends and family. And with the likes of Twitch built-in as well, broadcasting yourself has never been easier. Reckon that you can beat Bloodborne with your tongue? Plug in a PlayStation Camera and prove it.
Which features do you think makes the PS4 wonderful – and what do you think that Sony needs to do to improve the system's quality of life? Shake your stuff like a European break-dancer in the comments section below.

Well, I have a PS4 and my life is wonderful so it must be true! That share button is pretty awesome though it's true. Got to love mixing a few clips together in sharefactory.
Is that the Chemical Brothers on the ad? I used to really like them.
@Johnnycide It is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LO2RPDZkY88
Slow News Day, huh?
Backwards compatibility coming! Reason #1.
My collection of game screenshots/video saves is growing. Ah to look back at the adentures I've had on my ps4 is pure memory bliss. The slick switching in out of apps is awesome. Play a game, get stuck, switch out, check web browser, type in game faqs using bluetooth keyboard, get solution, jump back in. Got game coma (too much!), then i switch out and slap on tvcatchup, iplayer or spotify. It's my entertainment hub.Only thing missing is I can't use Web browser to watch anime cos lack of flash or full HTML5 capabilities. If Sony can add this ability it'll render my tablets/macbook near useless!!
update: sorry me bad. Go go anime works well on ps4 web browser. Guess it does run anime or films well in Web browser !! Yay my life is complete with ps4!!!!
One thing I particularly love about the system is the speed of the OS. Everything is so zippy and as you say it is very efficient at downloading updates in the background. I'm also a fan of the rest functions. Sometimes if I have something to do but am in the middle of playing a game, it is so convenient to just put it in sleep mode rather than turn the whole thing off.
@get2sammyb excellent stuff! Heard that a while ago and really liked the synth riff. Didn't know it was them. Cheers Sammy!
@DominicanGlory Haha, a bit.
@mookysam Agreed. Going back to the PS3 is really challenging because everything takes an age to load/install/synch.
@LieutenantFatman hey I'm a new guy here but don't u have to pay just to play online on ps4 so Wat makes it so better than the PS3 because people have been saying it's going to be gone for good
The store on the PS4 is 10 times better than the PS3. Since they redid the PS3's store, it's slow and it kicks you off in just a few minutes. Even though I still have much love for the PS3, I always turn to the PS4. I do have one question though, can you download the tv episodes and movies you bought onto the PS4 to watch anytime, or can you only do that with the PS3????
@get2sammyb Just a question out of the blue...can you download TV Shows and movies that are bought, onto the PS4...I know I have a lot on the PS3, but I'd like to play them on the PS4 instead??
Best console ever, just needs a few final tweaks to make it legendary....
@JLPick
I always wondered who was responsible for the store on the ps3. It ran like a dog on my ps3 slim from the day I bought it. It seemed like just plain bad programming when compared with how fast the ps3 ran games. Not sure why Sony never considered it anything less than an embarrassment to have their main shop front for ps games running so slow.
The store on the ps4 runs how it should have always ran on the ps3.
And don't get me started on the user experience of using the store on a mobile browser! Awful doesn't begin to describe it.
Ps store aside I still play the ps3 more than the ps4. the ps3 games, on the whole, seem more fun. And the ps2 had more great head to head 2 player games than the 3 or 4.
Having said all this my opinions may be coloured by the fact that I'm reluctant to spend £45 on a ps4 game that turns out to be a game I find dull. So my ps4 collection is limited to games that I'm 99% sure I'll like.
Maybe if ps+ allowed subscribers to try games before they bought them (like they used to) I'd be much more inclined to diversify and try titles I'm less sure of.
Love my PS4, who exactly criticises PS4's lineup, i've not see anyone use the "PS4 has no game's" since the PS3 era, apart from on this site ofc.
@JLPick I'm not actually sure, but if you're using the same account, I don't see why not.
@xMEADx It happens a lot across the web to be honest.
@xMEADx It still happens a lot! Especially in articles that focuses on XbOne`s exclusives!
I love the Share button! Or what I like to call it "share funny glitches/ragdoll death positions on Facebook" button.
@xMEADx It happens often between PlayStation and Xbox "fans". (I'm reluctant to call them fans since they give the real fans a bad rep, but the word most people would use to describe them is frowned upon here.)
My problem isn't the amount of games because the PS4 definitely has plenty of them. My problem is the amount of exclusives. As the owner of a gaming PC, I can get most of the PS4's lineup on my PC. The reason I buy consoles is for exclusive games I can't get anywhere else. Would it make sense for me to get a PS4 to play Fallout 4 when I can play it on my PC? Of course not.
When I purchased my PS4, I figured the offerings on PS+ would hold me off between big releases. Unfortunately, those kind of went downhill.
For someone that has no interest in PC gaming, the PS4 would be an excellent purchase. However, for someone who does have one, I'm not so sure. There's been some great exclusives so far (Infamous Second Son, DriveClub, Bloodborne, Tearaway Unfolded, and Dragon Quest Heroes) but I'm not sure how long they'd last someone. However, with Uncharted 4 on the horizon, plus the fact that there are some pretty good deals on PS4s right now, I'd say now is probably a good time to get one. For someone that's had it for awhile, though, the PS4 hasn't exactly been "wonderful".
PS4 and 3DS make my life better, but I love my Wii U too. Xone is unnecessary because is a less powerful playstation with exclusives that don't matter to me (I'm not saying that are bad, just not for my taste).
But that said, with 3ds and Ps4 I'm seeing a Jrpg's rebirth and I'm very happy whit this fact!

6. We can read PushSquare for our daily dose of PS4 news of course!
I love how you can download anything in the background. Patches are huge now so that is needed.
I like how overall faster it is, although the controller IMO is not that superior to the PS3 one. I miss my Start button that was easier to find and press.
Interface is not intuitive. To pause a download you dont go to Library, you go to Notifications, then Downloads. Took me forever to find it out.
But dont get me wrong, I love my new system!
It's quiet too. My PS3 sounds like an old hoover!
