Final Fantasy VII's roster of Trophies have leaked online – but don't get too excited yet. These trinkets are not for the recently announced remake, but for the PlayStation 4 port of the PC port of the PSone classic. Confused? This is the version that Square Enix trolled everyone with at PlayStation Experience, though it made up for things at E3 2015.
The game will have a total of 32 gongs, with a Platinum included. They look relatively straightforward to us; many require you to merely work through the story, while others will ask you to upgrade your party and score big in the title's various minigames. It'll probably take you a fair few hours to 100 per cent this, but at least the game's great.
There's no word on a release date just yet, but as with Drawn to Death, the emergence of Trophies in Sony's database suggests that the title's virtually ready to go. We'll almost certainly get a window next week, so stay tuned to Push Square for all of the details. Will you be revisiting Midgar? Get on it like Barret in the comments section below.

Looks good, I finished this on PS One back in the day and on PC but with trophies added... You know i think i might just play it again!
Ahaha, gold trophy for getting wiped out, nice silver lining for getting your arse kicked I suppose!
Actually those trophies are HARD. The barret one, one of the limits, the extra bosses, the money - this screams nearly impossible to plat.
I didn't notice the Barret trophy, easy enough to get with a guide but a lot of people will miss that one I suspect unless there's a way to cheat it. The money one should be easy enough. Fully upgraded materia sells for A LOT of money.
Very similar to the steam achievements which I got all of , easy platinum at least a couple of weeks worth of work
@ztpayne7 Well, I didn't say it was easy — just straightforward. It looks time consuming for sure.
Calling it: this is going to be a 'and live now on the PS store' announcement at PSX.
Oh Jesus Square........
Playstation Experience 2016, main stage.........now the FFVII experience you've been waiting for!!!??? (hype!)........
........after only a year we are now releasing the late 1990's PC port of FFVII to PSN!
I can see it happen. It will be even funnier if they chose to ignore the remake.
And not one mention of the lucky 7's thing in the trophies.. That was a pain in the ass by itself, manipulating those damn Cactuars lol.. Fun though..
I probably won't be buying it though cuz I have it on ps1 anyway and recently played through it, dunno how many times that is now..
Why does it seem like the silver trophies seem longer and more time consuming/diifficult compared to gold ?
@LieutenantFatman also, megalixirs sell for alot too..
W-item? or did they nerf it? :/
well i did all that on the original PS1 game so i should be able to do it again
although getting Aerith/Areis to learn her final Limit Break BEFORE you go to the Temple of the Ancients is really annoying
plus breading a Gold Chocobo is a pain in the a** too
Yesyesyes, Dying to play this.
I wonder how much it will be, in an ideal world if we have bought it on ps3 and vita we should surely get it for free.
In reality anything more than £10 is a cheek, either way I will be buying it, hopefully they will do the same with VIII and IX.
Learn Aeris' last limit break? Not many will manage that one.
@marston1983 final fantasy 8 has a pc version, so hopefully we will get that.
@Mizanur I think if you stick with her from the start its not too bad, the only downside is well, you know
Finally my chance to play this game in English
Excellent, some of these do look time consuming though
@marston1983 £19.99 I bet, squares pricing is always a bit high with these FF rereleases. I'll pay it but £10-15 would be better!
Did all of the above a couple years ago when I last replayed it, probably took me around 70-80 hours in total from what I remember so not too bad. The Barrett trophy is the only one that requires any real planning
Can't wait for this to come out to tide me over to the remake, which better have some form of the Don Corneo shenanigans. There have been a few games that I've intended to get the platinum for yet here I am with just 1 to my name 😕
@kyleforrester87 I suppose £20 divide by 80 or so hours til platinum. Isn't a bad price 😁
I can't imagine why I would want to play this now with the remake only a few years away. Well probably. Hopefully at least on PS4, I'm really not in the mood to start the PS5 watch yet. I'm guessing Sony thinks they can milk 4 for an extra year or two with the VR helmet. They should make a Spaceballs game with modified helmet to bundle with it.
@rjejr I'm worried to that the playing the original will dampen my feelings towards the remake in a couple of years ( feeling optimistic)
Wow I played the original countless of times and I always got Aeris or Tifa on the date. Didn't know that you could get Barret until years later. However I was able to beat all the Weapons and gathering the best weapons without help which, back then, my friends thought that was quite an accomplishment. Back in 1996 nobody new the "internet" here.
@marston1983 the trick is using her enough to get the limit break, but not too much or you'll take her on a date instead of Barrett.
Hmm, I've never played a Final Fantasy title, but if I took the dip, it would be either 6 or 9.
Actually, I did play a demo of FF7 from an issue of PCGAMER magazine back in 98 or 99, but it didn't do much for me at all.
Welp, I guess I'm gonna get another Platinum. The only "tough" one is to get Aerith's final Limit Break.
Oh cool, I'll more than gladly revisit the title one last time before the remake
@marston1983 if I am not mistaken there are very few enemies (in disc1) who provide enough exp to level up even if you had her in your party upto that 'moment'. Which means it will be one long grind to get that final limit break.
Looking at the list though, I obtained all the gold trophies on my original ps1 playthrough. If only I could transfer my ps1 save over and resume....
'Obtain Knights of the Round summon' should be renamed 'obtain a Gold Chocobo', which was another pain in the arse.
@Mizanur to be fair, it was a non essential end game quest with a pretty awesome reward. Games these days have you running around the world collecting all sorts of nonsense just to see a 100% marker on a menu - I'd have loved a few more end game challenges in FF7 back in the day!
Will there be a retail version of this or is it digital only?
@kyleforrester87 Agreed, not a fan of collectibles related trophies. :/
@WanderingBullet FF7 port is a PS4/PC release, so I imagine digital only.
Sadly physical releases have become less popular over the years.
@ToddlerNaruto Noted and thanks for the info.
Yeah, I tend to prefer buying physical copies of games.
I'm confused as to how this is different from the PSOne Classic I already have downloaded (other than the trophies): Is this PC port better looking? Is the PSOne Classic not available for PS4?
I've never played FF7 so really happy this is coming! Can anyone let me know whether the trophies look missable?
@3DSWiiUFanatic Just upscaled for bigger TV's and inclusion of trophies (and likely the ability to level up quicker/generate gil if you just want to play it for the story mode). It's pretty good news if you're a fan of the game as the original version looks pretty horrendous on a bigger TV but you may not be inclined to have a smaller set just for playing a few old school games on.
@mrobinson91 I think only these are missable, although I may stand to be corrected:
◾Best Bromance – Go on a date with Barret in the Gold Saucer
◾Consummate Cross-dresser – Get Don Corneo to choose Cloud over the two females
◾Bahamutype-0 – Obtain the Bahamut ZERO Materia (I think you can get the master summon materia seperately or something that would include this??)
◾Loose Cannon – Learn Catastrophe – Barret's last Limit Break
◾See the Light – Learn Great Gospel – Aeris's last Limit Break
@kyleforrester87 Date with BARRET at the Gold Saucer? _ Jeez that's anticlimactic.
I remember when E3 2014 and I check out the PSstore and saw P.T there and for free kinda wonder was it and boy what a demo phew
And this is the one that sent the Final Fantasy series spiraling downward.
@Tasuki You just trying to make me bite or what?
I appreciate 1-6 are brilliant games, and while 7-9 mixed things up a little they are no less great in their own way. Certainly, 10 onwards made further changes, and the quality has since declined. Opinions are certainly subjective but the popularity of FF7 amongst newcomers to the series/genre and old fans alike is not to be ignored.
@kyleforrester87 might just be me but in that comparison shot I much prefer the original version!
Also @Mizanur not sure if it's patched for the PC version (probably), but in the original on PS1 you could actually get KOTR without a gold chocobo, all you need is the airship. It could be really fiddly, but basically if you landed on the cliff near the cave where KOTR is and rotated the airship while you were doing it, getting the angle just right would actually allow it to land facing the other way and would drop you off on the same level as the summon cave, where you aren't supposed to be able to land!
Edit: that said, gold chocos aren't toooooooo hard to get if you know what you're doing!
@SteveButler2210 Yeah, to be fair cleaning up PS1 era games is always going to make them look odd. But side by side on bigger TV's I find it looks better.
That said I'm sure the backgrounds will be much the same as the PS1 versions, and the game itself is going to look pretty ropey by todays standards. Still, crisper menu fonts will be enough!
@kyleforrester87 if I am not mistaken Ruby and Emerald were added to the western release and I found those two side challenges fascinating at the time. I have to admit i used the prima guide though
@SteveButler2210 whaaaat! Really? That is the first I've heard that it can be done without a gold chocobo.
The PC port of the PS classic is the only version I have played, now I want to play the PS4 remake of the PS classic.
That damn Ruby weapon was nigh impossible, hated him
@kyleforrester87 Thanks for the info! I can see the reasoning now. At first glance, I thought the PC version looked WAY better, so I'm sure it will make a big difference on any big HDTV.
I still want this. The original release doesn't look good on a HD TV.
@Mizanur Yep I did that back on PSOne - it was a tough slog through disc 1.
No spoiler - in case one of the 3 ppl who never played it have learned how to use the internet and read my comment.
[reference to Aries Limit Break Trophy]
It is enough to make me buy it again for ps4 because I loved ff7 but after playing it on the pc with the Tifa bootleg mod in place it will be hard going back to its original form
