Well, that's November done and dusted for another year. A month dominated by a trio of blockbuster releases, we all thought that November was going to give way to a clash of epic proportions when it came to our internal Game of the Month staff vote, but it actually turned out to be a bit of a one-sided slaughter. Which title thoroughly stomped the competition and made off with our prestigious award? You'll have to read on to find out.
Bronze Trophy: Call of Duty: Black Ops III
Another solid entry in Activision's mega franchise, Call of Duty: Black Ops III attempts to provide real bang for your buck with a lengthy campaign, a typically robust multiplayer offering, and an in-depth zombie mode all rolled into one rather hefty package. "While Ghosts may have bitten the bullet, Black Ops III reloads the franchise into a new, brighter era," concluded reviewer Sam Brooke. The blockbuster was awarded an explosive 8/10.
Silver Trophy: Superbeat: Xonic
With hot tracks and ridiculously addictive rhythmic gameplay, Superbeat: Xonic pumps some life into Vita thanks to the power of thumping tunes. We gave it an 8/10, with reviewer Nathan Michalik calling the release "one of the best rhythm games on the platform," adding that "the combination of difficulty, sense of progression, and unlockable content can make it a hard title to put down even after your fingers get sore". A perfect portable party, then.
Gold Trophy: Star Wars Battlefront
Even though it may be a little light on content, Star Wars Battlefront still offers a memorable multiplayer experience. A fantastic audio and visual tribute to the original trilogy of films, reviewer Alex Stinton concluded that "if you have any love for a galaxy far, far away, you'll get a real kick out of the taking part in the fun, large scale battles". The force was strong enough to net the title a few votes despite its good-but-not-great 7/10 review score.
Platinum Trophy: Fallout 4
Dropping on our social lives like an atomic bomb, Fallout 4 absolutely destroyed the competition in our staff vote, leaving the other nominees eating its irradiated dust just minutes into the voting process. Earning a score of 9/10 in our review, we called it "a masterclass in open world design", and simply put, we just can't stop playing the darn thing.
Bethesda's always been great at creating vast, detailed worlds for us to explore, but Fallout 4 arguably sees the studio take its ambition to a whole new level, offering up an incredibly dense urban jungle that seems to provide a near limitless amount of post-apocalyptic adventure. Indeed, deciding upon Push Square's Game of the Year just got a heck of a lot harder.
What was your favourite game of November? Do you agree with our staff picks? Have your say in our poll, and then tell us what you've been playing in the comments section below.

I'll go with the Bloodborne dlc just to be awkward.
@LieutenantFatman Would have been my pick as well, but we only count DLC when it's available standalone. There's method in the madness!
Battlefront gets gold despite being a vapid experience that this very site gave a 7/10. Not reading these again.
@DominicanGlory The review is done by one person...this is an internal vote by the guys at PushSquare?
Fallout 4 GOTY for me, based off of how many hours I have already invested alone, lol. Really liked Witcher but it just didn't grab me the same way Fallout has. Since fallout has given me a renewed love for open world games I will probably jump back into Witcher whenever I finish fallout, if I even finish it! Still think Far Cry Primal looms really cool though and should be released fairly soon.
@DominicanGlory They gave it a 8/10 though?
It's probably about right being 4th for the month. What would you put in its place?
Edit: Sorry, I thought you said BO3. Yeah I agree, by the sounds of it BO3 is the better game and I'd swap it over with Battlefront. But that's based on having played neither of them, soo..
I picked up Fallout today, it best be good!
@LieutenantFatman Was thinking the same thing, but as it's 'only' DLC, I went with Fallout 4 instead.
@kyleforrester87 It's amazing, if you want a tip for getting a very powerful weapon very early on let me know and I will post it, otherwise I don't want to tell you if you are like me and like to go in knowing nothing lol.
@SonyInfinity Thanks! Actually my enjoyment of The Witcher drastically dropped off once I read a guide to finding some of the better gear, so I think it's best I not bother going for the overpowered weapons straight out the gate!
@DominicanGlory Sorry to hear that. We allow the entire team to vote on these and, while we do make editorial decisions in the event of a tie, we try to go with the order that the poll determines.
Fallout 4 hands down.
@JoeBlogs yep, see my edit
I went back on Fallout 4 for the first time in over a week last night. Been too busy with The Witcher 3 still. Had it since launch and I'm still yet to finish it. Hands down the best RPG I've played in a decade since Knights of the Old Republic.
Fallout 4 has been great so far! It would be my GOTY if it wasn't for the Witcher 3.
Hmm, seems like Star Wars Battlefront is the popular game to hate on these days, considering it's not vogue anymore to complain about COD and people have moved past Fallout 4's minor bugs and technical hiccups (key word, minor).
@kyleforrester87 Agree completely, that's why I asked first. I get the most enjoyment out of games in figuring these things out myself, not sure why anyone would pay good money for a new game just to instantly go online and have someone tell them how to do everything in said game, lol. Honestly though there are ALOT of really good weapons, and it's all about your preferred play style. I tend to prefer single shot rifles for medical range but I have also spent quite a bit of time with pistols and snipers! Go figure
16 votes in and no CoD votes, funny.
Star Wars: Battlefront is so devoid of any content and variety in its limited game play, I can't believe its rated in 2nd place. Its probably the lowest on metacritic of these 4 too. Granted visually, its excellent, but the game-play is very shallow - especially compared to other FPS games.
Personally CoD is my PS game of the month - 2nd to Rise of the Tomb Raider. Fallout 4 isn't on my list - yet! I haven't bought it yet because I have other games to play.
@Neolit
Witcher 3 > Fallout 4
Both have been awesome titles though.
@Neolit same here I just can't keep away from it, maybe one day I'll actually get round to finishing the story too. I spend half of my time rearranging my settlements along with some interior decorating. I even catch myself deciding where I'm going to go next even when I'm not playing. So yeah game of the month and probably game of the year, slightly ahead of The Witcher but both are amazing.
@Neolit
Why do you love people you love?
A chemical reaction in the brain between the emotional section of the brain (which is situated in the centre right of your brain and acts as a bridge between the other parts of the centre brain which control sub conscious thoughts and instinctive behaviour) and the frontal lobe which controls rationalisation. Your brain floods with endorphins and these parts combine leaving you in love. As a matter of fact cold blooded murderers have issues with these parts of the brain.
Why Fallout 4 for the GOTY?
Its fallout duhhh.
Surprised to see Battlefront above CoD. Even though lots of people are bored of the series Black Ops 3 is surprisingly good compared to the last two and has loads of content whereas Battlefront just feels really lacking...
First time in ages I don't think I've played any of the monthly games chosen! I'm holding out till Christmas for Fallout 4 I think, still got a few others to work my way through! Plus rainbow six siege arrives tomorrow!!
So I play a lot of Nintendo - and the release schedule has been a desert wasteland - I just got a fresh Black Friday PS4 - and I teared up a little bit seeing "Top 4 Games of the Month" - I don't think Nintendo had 4 games come out this past Autumn Season....
I have heard nothing but great things about Fallout 4 but I got Battlefront since my friends were and I had 45 already down on it. I have to say I think it deserves the gold this month. Is it a little shallow? Yep but so much fun. Get a couple of friends together and partner up to wreck some rebel scum!
