Confession time: this author, despite being a big fan of Capcom's campy survival horror series, hasn't played Resident Evil 6. The sequel has sat sealed on your host's shelf since its 2012 launch day, but has never been touched since then. It's one last-gen game that this scribe wants to go back to – but it seems that we won't have to if a Korean rating is to be believed.
Apparently, the game is being ported to the PlayStation 4. While news of another remaster is likely to have you rolling your eyes, it makes sense: Resident Evil 7 doesn't appear to be particularly near, and there'll always be a market for Leon S. Kennedy's undead adventures. Capcom's refusing to comment on the leak, but the same source outed Gravity Rush Remastered and Resident Evil Revelations HD, so it's happening.
The question is: would you be willing to re-fill the shoes of Chris Redfield should this re-release be real, or are you only interested in new Resident Evil titles at this point? Show us your herb collection in the comments section below.

I hope you are joking i say no more.
Hilarious. The game can be fun if taken at face value and not as a true RE game
Lol if all the games capcom can remaster they remaster this?
I truly think that Capcom is afraid, no can afford atm, to do RE7.
Yeah, I'm rolling my eyes and face-palming at the same time. Yes, yes I know 'it's not a big deal, you don't have to buy it.' Still the worst main RE game of all-time, but hey at least I know which direction they're going to take the inevitable RE 7. Right down the full third person shooter alley. The Leon/Helena section of the game was at least tolerable but the other ones, especially Chris' campaign played like Gears of War minus the good gameplay.
I for one actually quite like that RE6 was more action oriented.
I need to play this. There's such a mix of reaction to it that I need to know what it's like for myself.
there are big distinctions that people need to make when talking about RE5 and 6 in my opinion: they are good games, but they are not good Resident Evil games, and the same goes for RE4.
The later RE games are fun to play, and if you don't take them seriously then they are a lot of fun, but the franchise has been going steadily away from what it is since Code Veronica. RE is about survival horror. It is tight corridors, resource management, spooky environments etc.
I don't think the later RE games would get nearly as much bad press if they weren't mainline RE games. I wish they were just spin offs while the main games kept their survival horror roots. Fingers crossed that RE7 goes back to basics.
I'll get it because I missed 5 and 6, but I expected 5 to come first, because it's older and better.
@tom189 I agree with you 100%. RE7 back to basics and Umbrella Corps. to be the shooter franchise. Why did Capcom mixed them in the first place if they are not afraid of creating new IPs?
So please Umbrella Corps for shooter games and Resident Evil for Resident Evil. Thank you.
@tom189
I can give you that 'good games but not good Resident Evil games' argument for 4 and 5, but there isn't much that's redeeming about RE 6. I liked it at first but when I went back it about a year or so ago I realized just how much I disliked some parts of the game and how much it took down the whole package. The two Revelations spinoffs, though far from perfect, do a better job capturing the old RE spirit than 5 or 6, imo, and that's a problem.
booooooooooooooooooooo!!!
@get2sammyb I think you may react as i did. I loved Leons story line and thought,"This is Resident Evil!", but upon playing Chris' story line, you basically lose all hope for the remainder of the game.
No. Just No! Why? RE6 was terrible!
@get2sammyb Horrible story the zombies where so uninspired the same goes for the bosses. The AI of your teammates was so bad and if they make Chris any bulkier he will become a rock or tank.
Oh "yay!" How could they get this so wrong? 5 was a bit of a joke but I can't deny I had a lot of fun playing it through co-op a couple of times. 6 was just so bad, I'm not sure how they managed it!
@Gamer83 Like I'm not really mad about persay but like I said in my first posts, of all the potential remasters they're gonna remaster this? Plus tbh i have no faith in RE 2 Remake and RE7 happening anytime soon.
"The sequel has sat sealed on your host's shelf since its 2012 launch day, but has never been touched since then."
That is where it should stay... I actually didn't mind RE5 I played it a good amount but RE6 is just one very long QTE. I hated it.
"Run Jill! Capcom's insane!" If this true, then alongside the steaming turd that will be Biohazard Umbrella Corps., this is looking to be a strange 20th anniversary year. Now if only we can get a re-release of the Game.com version of Resident Evil 2.
I must say, although it's a technically competent game, I wasn't much of a fan of 4 either. Though Revelations 1 and 2 have their moments, and 5 at least had some interesting story elements.
Ugh, who asked for this?
lol. Even as a casual Resident Evil fan (5 was my first, HD Remake is my favorite) I can honestly say 6 is the worst one I've played. I would rather buy 5 or Revelations 1, but I'm staying far away from 6.
Rental.
I'll pass on 6. But if they do 5 I'll buy it.
RE 6 was the nail in the coffin after 5.
4 was brilliant, 5 was fun, 6 was awful.
Yo, I loved RE6! Any game that lets you lay on the ground on your back during an entire gunfight gets my approval (i.e. Max Payne 3). Since I never finished this game, outside of Leon's campaign, I'd be all in...but only if they add splitscreen co-op! Kicking a buddy clear across the room or sliding in and knocking him over never got old for me.
This is one of those games that definitely doesn't need a remaster...aside from the low FOV, the PS3 version was pretty good compared to PC!
@Splat I didnt mind RE5 2 the zobies where ok and i liked shiva its a pity the made Chris so huge its not normal anymore.
Worst thing about RE6 is you used to be able to hammer to button while waiting for the your co-op partner in 5. SHIVA! SHIVA! SHIVA!
They slowed down the rate you could do that in 6. For shame.
If it was just Leons section id get it. Hell, i didnt even mind Jakes sections that much. Chris tho...atleast he didnt orge power punch a boulder in this one...
@WebHead
Yeah, the REmake 2 is definitely a ways off. I don't know if we see 7 this gen unless Sony or MS walks to the door with a bucketload of $$$.
i wouldn't mind if the entire series made it's way to PS4 as long as they take their time and make them worth it and give them all physical releases like with the RE0 & RE1 set
Resi 6 was awesome. 3 campaigns which are all decent. Not true survival horror mind, more like an action game with zombies and.....invisible snakes???........
@Observer-Hunter don't forget the mutant T-Rex
No, I wouldn't. I'll admit that I enjoyed RE5, but Redfield's campaign in RE6 was awful. Wesker's was alright, but I liked Leon and Ada Wong's campaigns the most. The problem though is that RE6 feels like a third-person shooter instead of...Resident Evil. :/ That's why I loved how Revelations 2 was a return to form. If you remaster one of the last-gen games, remaster RE5. That was the better game, and it was the best-selling RE in the series, last time I checked.
Now, if they make tweaks to the gameplay with RE6, then color me interested. But if it's a straight-up port...I'll pass.
