It's time for some absolutely rampant speculation - even if you're not a Warriors fan. Koei Tecmo's hack and slash titles have always split opinion, but you have to admit that the formula is a pretty good one - which is why it's been adopted by numerous properties over the years. Gundam, One Piece, Dragon Quest, The Legend of Zelda - the list goes on, and it would seem as though the Japanese publisher is looking to add yet more franchises to its catalogue.
According to the company's recent financial report, as relayed by ZhugeEX Blog, there's a potentially exciting announcement waiting in the wings. Koei Tecmo teases that it's made a collaboration deal with a 'very big' Western property.
Of course, that doesn't strictly mean that the game in question will adhere to the Warriors template, but you'd imagine that it's the most likely outcome. The real question is: what property has the publisher been able to snag?
Without causing a massive fuss, cast your mind back to the beginning of last month and you'll remember that Koei Tecmo producer Hisashi Koinuma stated that he'd love to make a musou title based on Star Wars. Do we dare to dream? Hey, we reckon that it'd work rather well.
In all seriousness, though, we're interested in hearing just what this product could be. Koei Tecmo certainly seems intent on branching out - especially in Western markets - so whatever it is, we'll no doubt hear about it in the relatively near future.

Don't EA have the exclusive deals to make Star Wars games for the next ten years though?
Game of Thrones is my shout
@adf86 This is a point me and @get2sammyb discussed. EA does indeed have exclusive rights, but that perhaps doesn't necessarily mean it can't publish a game that's developed by an outside studio.
Koei Tecmo's already done this, too. Square Enix owns Dragon Quest, but it allowed Koei Tecmo and Omega Force to develop Dragon Quest Heroes, and still put its name on the box.
Having said that, though, we can't see EA being as open minded. It's something that's well worth speculating over in any case.
I'm gonna guess it's Hunger Games or something.
@BertoFlyingFox I've not seen the most recent movie, but based on the first 2 I don't really see how that would work as a musou style game? Hunger Games has a small, set number of competitors, whereas the musou games seem to focus on the idea of one person pretty much decimating entire armies over and over again - the two concepts don't really seem like they would gel?
The epic battles in Lord of The Rings seem a good fit...its not really in the publics mind at the moment, unlike Star Wars...
Unless its Dogtanian and the Muskahounds, no sale
@stevebutler2210 I literally just blurted out the first movie fad I could think of. All I know is that the supposed final movie is releasing this month which could also line up with this news.
The last trailer I saw for that franchise had some war going on, so I figured it would lend itself to a musou game.
@dellyrascal Wow, sign me up for that one!
Come onnnn, Scott Pilgrim!
Marvel's Avengers is doing pretty well.
TMNT just won't go away for some reason, and they are all ninja's after all so the genre fits. Sewers are a bit closed in, maybe they hit the hot tub time machine to fight in feudal Japan?
I don't see it being Star Wars though. Or Hunger Games. Or LotR.
Every few months my kids and I try to come up w/ ideas for new Lego games - back before Lego D was announced. There are only so many franchises that fit the formula. We would really like a good How to Train Your Dragon game - the last one was one of the worst games I've ever played, and I've played Sonic 06 and Sonic Boom (but not Superman or Aquaman 64). HTTYD wouldn't work as mosuou though.
Oh, and the new Pixar baby dino movie looks absolutely horrible, Pixar should be ashamed to have their name on it, looks like straight to DVD quality,so that's not it either.
Where's Wally's Warriors
KT =/= Omega Force
Really love warriors(playing dq heroes at the moment and its soooooo good) style games, but i think a star wars one would be dull, im a HUGE star wars fan but i just think sticking to the main films wouldn't be good but if they used the clone wars animated series it would be amazing...so im saying clone wars animated for the warriors treatment
Coronation Street vs Eastenders Warriors Extreme Legends Edition. DLC Brookside and the Bill special characters.
This would be amazing if it was Star Wars! However even if it's game of thrones or Lord of the rings or something like that I'd get it. Got to play a warriors game every now and then!
Warriors: Adventures of the Gummi Bears confirmed!
@Churchy Post of the day.
@sajoey THAT WOULD BE THE BEST THING I'VE EVER PLAYED.
Avatar(the last airbender)warriors
DC comic warrior?
I'd prefer Marvel Avenger warrior. But with the IP popularity nowadays, it's unlikely they will lend their IP to 3rd party...
@andrew20 Id play that.
@Ps4all I second that @Boerewors or Duck Tails? @sajoey That would be awesome
Masters of the Universe?
@audiobrainiac Wow! A Ducktales/Warriors crossover would be hilarious. The beagle boys could be legions of Scrooge-cane fodder.
@audiobrainiac
Woo oo!
I would love a LOTR or Star Wars warriors game! But I just don't think it will happen! :/
I think it will either be disney warriors, marvel warriors, star wars warriors or all 3 combined. atleast something disney related, I heard everything disney related (including marvel and star wars) is hugely populair in japan.
@jonny_aces a warriors of middle-earth game would be perfect, so much characters that could single handed defeat thousands of enemies. as long as they use the books and not the movies (all middle earth related books, not just the hobbit and lord of the rings)
@Ps4all and korra DLC or as a sequel
I would definitely play A:tLA + Korra Warriors!
