Shahid Ahmad has become one of the faces of PlayStation over the past few years – but after a decade working at the company, he's set to embark on a new adventure. The industry veteran served as one of the key figures in SCEE's Strategic Content division, securing titles such as Super Crate Box all the way through to No Man's Sky for Sony's various systems. He'll leave on great terms.

"This has been the most rewarding period of my professional life," he wrote in a blog post. "I've had personal highs and lows and the company has supported me throughout. The last few years in particular have brought so many professional highs that it's been hard to take it all in. I will continue to be a friend of PlayStation, its partners, and its fans."

So, why is Ahmad leaving in the first place? "I want to make games again," he explained. "I stopped being a developer around a quarter of a century ago and have seen so many changes since then, with most of the exciting ones happening in the last few years. I want to be part of that. It's that simple. The team at PlayStation, while sad to see me go, completely understands my desire."

Fortunately, the Strategic Content division will continue to live on without its industrious figurehead. "There are no plans to change anything," he concluded. "Our approach to developers will also be unchanged. We have many talented people across the board who work tirelessly to support developers in bringing their games to PlayStation."

We once saw Ahmad give a presentation at EGX, and he was incredibly intelligent and clearly extremely committed to his company's cause. His departure will be a loss for PlayStation, then, but we wish him all of the best in his future endeavours.
