This is a pleasant surprise: Assassin's Creed Chronicles will take a leap of faith onto the PlayStation Vita next year. According to a Times of India report, the game will be available from 5th April as a bundle featuring all three of the side-scrolling spin-off's episodes: China, India, and Russia. The game was classified by a Brazilian ratings board earlier in the year, so consider this confirmation.
If you can't wait that long for the full series, then Assassin's Creed Chronicles: India will be available 12th January on the PlayStation 4, with its Russian counterpart marching in on 9th February. You'll be able to buy the complete Blu-ray trilogy from real-world retailers on the same day. Will you be playing these on your home console, or waiting for the handheld versions to arrive? Really great to see the Vita get some love by Ubi, between this, Rayman Origins / Legends, and Child of Light, they really make great portable experiences.
For as much as Sony doesn't support the Vita, they actually do, lol, they make sure that something is lined up every week, and at the end of the day, a lot of these smaller titles make better portable playing experiences than your Uncharted or Killzones of the world.
The Vita fills a niche, you do not find games like this on the 3DS, and on Android or iOS, you don't have the tactile controls which make it or break it for so many people.
I'll be waiting for this to come out for the Vita, for sure!
@sub15 I completely agree with what you said. I'm really loving my vita,and those ppl that say the Vita has no games, they are completely wrong.
These minor AC games fits great for the Vita. I rather play a smooth sidescroller than a somewhat laggy open world 3D game.
@WetCarret
I share the same viewpoint, 2D works wonders on portables.
@hYdeks The Vita has no exclusive games should really be the mantra. The Vita does in fact have a ton of games, the problem is most of them are available elsewhere, so why buy a Vita for them?
I always explain the Vita as a luxury console, because the real reason to buy one is to play said games on the go, not to gain access to more games.
@Warruz
It's not really a luxury machine or anything like that.
Problem: I want a dedicated mobile gaming device with tactile controls.
Solutions.
Vita: Lack of exclusives since 2014, bit it still looks nice and has a wide array of genres covered. PS1 and PSP selections as well.
3DS: Quality Nintendo exclusives, but it is a bit long in the tooth from a tech standpoint and lacking in genres outside of platformers and JRPG's. I would argue third party support is even worse than the Vita currently.
Android: Largest library, but game quality and control implementation is hit and miss and without any dedicated standards. Most people go the roms and emulation route.
@sub12 Its a luxury for the very reason you described. One does not buy a Vita to play its exclusives (because it has next to none), you buy a Vita to play games already available on other platforms in a handheld format. If you own others platforms, a Vita is not really needed, but if you want to play it portable then the Vita is there, hence why I say its a luxury console.
@Warruz
I disagree, it depends on what appeals to you most, it's not anymore of a luxury than any other handheld gaming device. I had a 3DS, but it's dirth of genres like racing and action games made me switch to the Vita.
Cool
I've been burned out on the Assassin's Creed series for a couple years, but as long as this hits retail and isn't digital-only, I'll gladly pick it up for Vita.
Oooooh, this is great news. When Ubi announced this spinoff I immediately thought that these games are prefect on Vita. Glad they are coming. Day1 purchase for me.
Still waiting for Valiant Hearts: The Great War hit ht Vita. I'm surprised that it did not make it yet as Child of Light was exceptionally enjoyable on Vita. Basically every UbiArt framework game is perfect fit on Vita.
Aaaan if I already talk about a wishlist - I hope that Transistor comes to Vita too. Just finished Bastion on Vita and what a great game it was. I played Tranistor on a phone but the touch only controls are reallly bad.
Will pick this up for Vita for sure...
@sub12 I love my Vita but this game here I'd have to disagree with you. Me personally I wouldn't pay 30 bucks for this no way in hell. I can get this same experience on my cell phone but a experience I don't want. The Vita is on life support it started out great but since I haven't seen but one game re revelations 2 worth buying and I did but first one in years.
