Destiny's so-called winter event, the Sparrow Racing League - or SRL - engages its thrusters today as Guardians who own The Taken King are given the opportunity to take part in WipEout-esque races. According to Bungie, crossing the finish line allows you to rack up rewards such as new Sparrows, equipment, and shaders. As long as the actual racing is enjoyable, we reckon that this should be great fun.
Speaking of equipment, the developer has revealed that helmets and class items that boast up to 320 light can drop courtesy of the event, so this could be the perfect opportunity to nab some more powerful bits and pieces. What's more, the Eververse Trading Company - Destiny's premium store - will be stocking new stuff until the SRL ends.
Needless to say, we'll be giving this a go and providing you with our thoughts in the near future. In the meantime, let us know if you'll be hitting the tracks in the comments section below.

Wow. No one wants to comment on sparrow Racing League? All right then.
The only thing I want to know, is this event going to be something we can look forward to every now and then like Iron Banner or Trials of Osiris?
Wish they would put more effort into adding a new strike or two, or actually coming up with a solution to matchmaking raids...
Don't get me wrong, free new content is a good thing, I just think they could target other areas of the game that could be improved. TTK was a great expansion but ultimately most players will run out of progression as me and my friends have done.
A very small percentage of the player base actually raid, so once you hit around 297 light this game offers very little unless you are into PVP.
Rainbow Six Siege is scratching that fps casual gaming itch right now anyway, just a shame that Destiny is gathering dust once again after such an initially positive experience with TTK (more than got my money's worth... So we'll see where the next expansion goes I guess!)
