We're being blessed with a little respite over the Christmas break, but January's already shaping up to be a gigantic month – for digital releases at least. Sony's confirmed that colourful car combat title Hardware: Rivals will be rolling out exclusively on the PlayStation 4 from 5th January in Europe and North America. The game will retail for £16.99/$19.99 – though that release date also happens to coincide with the day that we'd expect the PlayStation Plus update. Just sayin'.
"For those of you new to the game, Hardware: Rivals is an explosive, over-the-top, vehicle combat game where you pit yourself against other drivers in heavy tanks or fast attack vehicles," senior producer Daniel Durnin explained. "Battle online through multiple maps, game modes, challenges, and special events. As you take down your enemies, you will collect bounties for hunting your biggest rivals."
There'll be four vehicles available in the main game, but each will feature a roster of cosmetic upgrades, allowing you to customise your weapon of choice. The developer, SCE's Connected Content Group, is also promising plenty of post-release support, including "new maps, vehicles, and game modes that we'll be patching in as quickly as we can". Will you be homing in on this title when it deploys? Track us down in the comments section below.

aww I got the free beta
Feel like this has to be a Plus game. Would make massive sense getting a game to drive the post Xmas plus members enthusiasm and also (like myself) their data must suggest January as one of the biggest months for renewals of yearly memberships.
Tried the beta briefly, seemed fun.
@SKC_Diamond same here and I didn't play it, kinda regret it now. it looks a little fun.
So is it like the Twisted Metal series?
I enjoyed the beta a lot and liked it more than rocket league. Will get this game on its release date as there is nothing I will want until a few months into 2016.
Looks cool! It will take a LOT to pull my attention away from Rocket League though...I just can't stop playing the damn thing!
