The second window on SCEE's big 12 Deals of Christmas promotion has popped open, with Mad Max waiting on the other side. You'll be able to spend your holidays with Avalanche Studios' wasteland wander at half price if you purchase the game before 5th December from the European PlayStation Store. This is the initiative's second deal, with ten more still to come.
Despite the latest movie proving rather refreshing, we thought that the game was a teensy bit stale. "As you explore the desert on the lookout for pieces of scrap, your enjoyment will feel like it's on a downward trajectory the longer that you play," we pointed out in our 6/10 review. Still, that scorched Earth setting will warm you up no end if we do indeed get a white Christmas.

Or wait until after Christmas and get it for £15.
If anybody would rather own the physical copy and get it for £5 less, it's £24.99 at GAME online 👍
Wonder if Battlefront will make the sale, can imagine with the film out over Christmas they'd clean up dropping the price of that one!
I've still got MM sitting in its plastic wrapping, must finish other stuff first :/
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi @get2sammyb in the interest of fairness it does say 40% off on the Playstation store. Still not a great deal though and I'm hoping for better coming up.
@Cron_13 that's just never going to happen, the film will sell the game at full price as it it, not to mention a lot of new owners will be getting Star Wars with their PS4 with what is looking an increasingly successful marketing campaign.
I bought a physical copy in a shop last week for the same price £30. Then when I finish it I will be able to trade it in for £18 (I just checked their I want to sell app) again in a physical shop.
As the aforementioned store is 10 minutes from my house I do not even benefit from the supposed convenience of shopping digitally as the download would take longer than for me to walk there and back plus I get some exercise and I save, in the long term, £18.
Of course this conversation as regards digital pricing is the same one we have had over and over again. Will online prices ever become realistic?
@dnky666 Some of the sales in recent times have been really good. But therein lies the problem, we are waiting for 'sales'.
I am a staunch retail buyer - however having the convenience of digital is too big of a pull. I live a 20 minutes drive + £2 parking from my nearest game shop. So when I saw game of thrones for a couple of quid an episode its a no brainer.
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi I agree, without a single player campaign I just don't think it represents great value. It'll sell around the launch of the film but I don't expect to see it in the charts long after Christmas
@themcnoisy I agree absolutely. As you point out we all hold out whilst they offer it to us for £30, then £25 etc etc until they reach a sensible price point. I guess it is the same "model" as free to play games. They list Mad Max for £30 and although the take up is lower than at £20 the better margin makes more money.
From the day of release Mad Max had 'Bargain Bucket' written all over it.
As said above £15 in the new year or buy a physical copy delivered to your door from Amazon £25 today.
mmmm, not sure why this had a mediocre score in review as I quite enjoyed it, in fact I preferred this over MGSV in which I purchased at the same time. I love RPG's I'm not a "True" completionist but I always pursue side quests and explore locations until I get all my skill levels up to max level (no pun intended). I generally avoid main storyline quests unless they are required to get a upgrade but I never found myself getting bored or deflated during my 4 weeks of game time with MAX......Just thought I'd put my opinion in as this is a great buy for RPG fans, game play graphics are great (even though character cut scenes weren't the best), I loved both the vehicle and foot combat also the skills tree was quite user friendly. Hope you enjoy!!!!
Really enjoyed this game also. Thought it was well worth the £54.99 I paid for it digitally on PS Store. Deffo worth £30.
@Cron_13 if its treated anything like Battlefield it will be heavily discounted in the coming months
I do agree about the waiting for sales effect. There are games I have held off buying because I know they will come down in price. Or some of them ended up being free on PS Plus. But if a game really excites me then I will buy it no matter what. Knowing there are going to be sales, flash sales, holiday sales, because its the day if the week sale. Means there are always offers. You an really get some great deals if you time it right. But the core problem which still has not been resolved is that new AAA release are a good £10 if not more than buying a retail copy in a box. I am not sure who sets the prices and what cut Sony take for allowing them to be sold through the store. But it does need to change. Also there is no digital competition its PSN or nothing.
Oh back to the point. Watching Mad Max on twitch did not make me want to buy the game. I would probably pick it up in a couple of years off Ebay.
