For a game that came out over two years ago, Battlefield 4 is amazingly still being supported, despite developer DICE working on Star Wars Battlefront [And Mirror's Edge Catalyst! - Ed] as well.
In what could be a final Battlefield 4 farewell, DICE announced in a new trailer that a free download, called Battlefield 4: Legacy Operations, will be adding an updated version of the much-loved Battlefield 3 map Dragon Valley this month. This new, shiny version will include improved textures and foliage, increased elevation, and destructible bridges and buildings, all to add more opportunities for – sigh – levolution.
Not only that, but DICE developmental director Dan Vaderlind announced on Twitter that, with Battlefront development finished, DICE Stockholm is now pushing on with development on the next Battlefield game, while a small portion of the team stay put to support Battlefront.

I recently picked BF4 back up in a PSN sale after trading it nearly two years ago due to all the net coding issues. Im so glad I gave it another try as its a really good game now it works as intended.
I was able to get Premium for £16 which is less than half price and comes with a wealth of content. Its an added bonus getting Dragon Valley for free.
Sorry to correct. It's a battlefield 2 classic
I do feel somewhat 'disappointed' that Dice consider Battlefront development as 'finished'. I know they will have a small team still working on DLC and patches but I do feel its half (or less) the game that Battlefield 4 is.Granted it looks spectacular but it also has the most shallow FPS experience as well as the least amount of content too - since Titanfall and that didn't last long!
I had hoped that Dice would be working on adding more substantial free content to the game (not just Maps) to make up for its disappointing on disc content. It kind of feels like they rushed its release in time for Christmas and the movie tie-in after spending all their time on the visuals.
Maybe Dice didn't really want this game to be a long lasting game and hope people move onto Battlefield??
Great game, mo go-to shooter, haven't even bother buying another multiplayer shooter simply because this is so good as far as I'm concerned. And as has been noted in the article, the post release support this game has received has been nothing short of superb, not only did they work hard to fix the launch issues (which were pretty bad to be fair) they've added a lot of free content which I feel compensates for the poor launch. Definately worth picking up in a sale with the premium content, it still has a pretty bug player base for nearly all the modes
I think this game has been really well supported over the years. They released some free DLC. And have made some big improvements to the game. I plan to pick it up soon. I think they tried to move on with Hardline but that does not seem to be as popular even though I really enjoy it.
I enjoyed the B4 campaign but the AI was terrible and let it down somewhat...
If only every game go this much love from its own developer. It's been fantastic, and BF4 still goes toe to toe with games released this year.
@KAPADO I agree, the support battlefield has got from dice over the last year's has been excellent... As my mate said the other night "it's the game that keeps on giving"..... Cracked me rite up!
Also battlefield 5 has got be more bigger and epic than 4 with some sort of, as dice call it "levelution" on every map that completely changes it. And don't bother wasting time with single player campaign. Unless it's making bad company 3?!
Always loved an supported battlefield series. And so glad to see that it supports us back . Definitely one of the best purchases I've made for the ps4.
Bought a ps4 mostly for BF4. Fortunately for me I got it allmost a year after its release so most problems were ironed out. Still playing it regularly to this day
Wouldn't it be nice for a change if these games got some SP campaign DLC...?
