'Twas the night before Christmas and all round Push Square, the team were playing Rocket League in abhorrent knitwear. Sammy was scoring goal after goal. "Stop," screamed Robert, "Or you'll be getting coal!" So we changed the game – TowerFall the choice. And we all played till Christmas in jovial voice.

I've saved Fallout 4 specifically for Christmas, so I'll be hammering Bethesda's latest over the holidays. When I'm not wandering the wasteland, I'll be catching up on some downloadable games – Three Fourths Home, Contrast, and Actual Sunlight are all on the agenda.

I'll be dipping into an old favourite over the holidays: Resident Evil 6. It's far from a perfect game and is easily the worst title in the legendary horror franchise, but when the embrace of family draws near, four campy, over-the-top co-op campaigns should provide all the distraction my brother and I need to stay sane. Merry crimbles, etc.

This Christmas, I'll be aiming to put a dent in my backlog before the great Push Square machine lurches back to life in the New Year. Fallout 4 is definitely my main target as I want to put it to bed once and for all, however I also plan on giving some time over to a few other titles, such as Yakuza 4, SteamWorld Heist, and Elite: Dangerous to mix things up a bit.

I've been telling myself for weeks now that I would put aside time to finish Rise of the Tomb Raider. I'm hoping that I'll actually follow through on this finally. First though, I'll be playing Episode 4 of Minecraft: Story Mode, as that is the next review on my schedule. And then spread throughout the wonderful holiday stretch, I'll play some Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Siege and NHL 16 – games that I can easily go back to again and again for short stretches of time.

I'm really looking forward to focusing upon the Invasion training mission in Star Wars Battlefront as we pass around the DualShock 4 during our family Christmas. I've associated snowy Hoth with the festive season since 1980, and I know my brother will buzz from DICE's exquisite visual presentation when he pilots a snowspeeder across the powdery white plains of the remote ice planet.

Joy to the world, the Lord is come... and let earth play its video games! There's much to celebrate for the rest of the year, and I will express that by getting into Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. I aim to unwrap Shovel Knight and Bloodborne: The Old Hunters as well while I'm at it, and by travelling to Virginia to hang out and play games like Lara Croft and The Temple of Osiris with good friends, I'll be closing out 2015 on a bright note. Oh, and have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, readers! Many thanks for your support this year!

Christmas just wouldn't be Christmas in our household without the time honoured tradition of Rainbow Six: Siege. Nothing else encapsulates the festive period more than getting together with your best buddies and coming up with innovative and intricate ways to virtually murder your fellow man. God bless us, everyone!

I'll be indulging in plenty of Just Cause 3 over the holiday period, because nothing brings in the Yuletide season like blowing up a Mediterranean military base using solely a grappling hook. Once the inevitable family visit occurs, I'll be breaking out Guitar Hero Live and Just Dance 2016, and all of that still doesn't account for the games that I might receive during Christmas. *cough*WWE 2K16*cough*

It's here already! Christmas is back and this year I'll have plenty of time to clear some of my backlog. I'm hoping to get through Just Cause 3, Rainbow Six: Siege, Fallout 4, Nuclear Throne, Bloodborne (yeah, Sammy has been nagging me to play this for ages), Star Wars Battlefront, and Call of Duty: Black Ops III – my list is practically endless. [Add ICO and Shadow of the Colossus to that, Simon – Ed]

I'm hoping to find one or two PS4 game-shaped presents under the tree this year, so what I'll be playing this Christmas is somewhat of a mystery. Until tomorrow's festivities unfold, though, I've got King's Quest Chapter 1 to keep me occupied. Plus, let's face it – there's always time for Rocket League. Happy holidays!

Happy Holidays all! My Christmas is going to be filled with a lot of gaming. On the Xbox I will be diving in to Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2. On the PS4, I'll be playing WWE 2K16, and a bit of Tales from the Borderlands. And finally, I'll play a spot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time on the SNES. Have a safe and wonderful Holiday!
