Is it really that time again? Yes, it's that time again. Sony's said that, despite the ongoing holidays, we'll learn about January's batch of PlayStation Plus goodies this week, so it's time to think up your wishlist before the Japanese giant shatters your dreams. This time last year we were all looking forward to inFAMOUS: First Light and The Swapper, so could we score a similarly strong selection in 2016?
Well, stranger things have happened – but you'd probably be best advised keeping your expectations low. PlayStation 4 car combat title Hardware: Rivals is due out on the same day as we expect the Instant Game Collection freebies to deploy, and would probably benefit from the player base injection. It's a reasonable suggestion, then, with Amplitude and Rebel Galaxy also sound shouts.
But it's much more likely that the platform holder will dive into its archives, with anything from older retail games to those oh so divisive indie titles up for grabs. We've been saying it for a while, but we reckon that Killzone: Shadow Fall would be a really strong pick, and it's hard to imagine it selling many boxed copies these days. Of course, the whole point of this article is for you to discuss your dream lineup, so hop to it in the comments section below.

First light was an awesome game for ps plus. Hoping we get something of the same quality.
I'm just waiting for the day Last Of Us Remastered is given out, loved it on PS3.
Killzone Shadow Fall and Octodad would be good.
Kill zone would be nice, far cry 4 would be great as well. maybe watch dogs. fingers crossed for not all indie titles. A great idea would be a movie freebie or free themes.
Hardware Rivals and/or Rebel Galaxy would work just fine. Or any other surprise. No "AAA"s for me, if I'd wanted it I'd have more than likely got it by this point.
I want Toukiden Kiwami for PS4/PSVita
A racing game
Has p4g been given away for vita?
Well in the "plausible and impressive" category, I'd say Shadowfall or any of the other, older first party games like Knack. In the "implausible and impressive" I'd put The Order. I mean, that'd be a great thing to give all the new Christmas PS4 owners as a first PS+ offering to make them all jump on board before being hit with 12 months of 2D platformers. I mean, sure, there are many even greater things to give them but that seems more likely since it's first party and presumably is hardly selling any copies at this point.
What would I personally want? Well I guess The Order, again. The thing is, I've bought most PS4 games I want. There's hardly anything left apart from games that seem too new for PS+, like Until Dawn or Disgaea 5. Perhaps Ultra Street Fighter IV in preparation for SFV? I have it on Steam, but still...
Would love Rebel Galaxy myself The Order would be great too but I think it's still a bit too soon to see that on plus :/
I'm hoping for axiom verge! If not I'll probably buy it this week. I think kill zone is a good option, but I have that. I'll probably hope for something like far cry 4 or something.
@Mega-Gazz To my knowledge, no. I don't see or hear about a lot of Atlus games in these offers, either. It's also been out for over 3 years, and is easy enough to find for $20 in the US.
I already own Killzone, Infamous: 2nd Son and Last of Us so ideally and purely selfish reasons I would hope that these are not offered any time soon. Most of the AAA titles I want, I already have but I would much prefer a AAA title that I had little interest in at the time than an indie (or similar) game as these generally don't keep me interested or entertained for an hour. Also seeing AAA titles offered regularly, even those I may already have or don't want, does increase my opinion, interest and excitement for PS+, Sony and IGC.
MGS V, Just Cause 3, Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls, PlayStation Vita Pets. PS3 can do one.
@BAMozzy the problem with leaving games like TLOU and KZ out of PS Plus for so long is that by the time they do arrive they can be bought for peanuts and most people have already played the game. A lot of earlier adopters and former PS3 owners will be underwhelmed. Sony really should be sticking all 1st party titles into the IGC after 12 months not 3 years.
@Sammyslamma although you could buy firs light in a box from a shelf, it was still just dlc and not really a game, I'd rather have 1 game
Zero interest in hardware rivals, rocket league is more or less a driving game, and it's great but I still hardly play, I don't need anything vaguely similar and second rate.
Killzone is long overdue IMO. Aside from that, I'd like to see a new PSN title showcased on PS+ like Rebel Galaxy or Amplitude.
Honestly, I'd be happy with most things as long as we get one big title and something that isn't crap like Grow Home. It probably also would help if I didn't own everything they gave away too
I would like Rayman Legends
I think the order would be a great pick
Shadow Warrior. More people need some Lo Wang in their lives.
Plus the game is freaking brilliant too, leaves all other modern FPS games in the dust. It would be a good way to drum up interest for the upcoming sequel.
N++ its been picked in a few game of the year awards so would be good timing and Knack because seriously where are the ps plus launch titles at.
Jak and Dexter HD collection or just ond game frm there
Always thought it would be a good idea to throw in a theme or some avatars with the free games as well.
How come this month there was only 2 games? Usually on my PS4 it shows me all 6?
Uncharted 4, The Last Guardian, FF7 remake, Tekken 7 and Mass Effect 4, please.
@JoeBlogs Was just about to comment in here to say I got the email.
I was going to buy Hardware Rivals. Really enjoyed the beta it was a lot of fun to play. I did enjoy it more than Rocket League. Do not know about Grim Fandango not really heard of it.
The email did not tell me which games are free on PS3 does anyone know what they are?
@itshoggie lol just as I says it they emails me a a code for a free theme, looks it's another two games I won't be playing this month.
@get2sammyb I just got an email from playstation. The ps4 games are hardware rivals and grim fandango.
Does anyone else get the feeling that the PS3 and Vita offerings may end soon; they're not shown on the PS4 store anymore, are completely unmentioned in the emails and merely acknowledged on the blog. Phasing them out for sure.
I did not understand why they were not mentioned in the email. I thought maybe it was because I joined up for PS Plus on my PS4 and they assume I am not on PS3 anymore even though it covers all consoles. I am still using my PS3 for some games so would be a shame if they stopped supporting it with free titles.
@Neolit I love the sales to.
My problem (as I suspect with a lot of ps4 owners) is that I already own a lot of the initial release premium titles, so to be honest, any premium game will be wasted on me, yes I'll add it to my games list but won't download it as will need to save space, game save probably won't be usable on ddl (digital download) and because the world and it's mother will have the digital copy any trade in value will be bottomed out....needs another year of premium titles to start competing with the ps3 offerings we used to get
Sorry to everyone that is getting excited about Rebel Galaxy being a possibility, it's not going to happen as The European version is coming it maybe 1 or 2 weeks later. The game looks fantastic anyway, just buy it! It's only going to be around £15/$20 and would love as many people as possible to support a new dev like this by buying the game.
PS3 and vita games have t been announced yet.
The good news is that Grim Fandango is a classic adventure game - the LAST classic adventure game in fact. It's basically the final real Lucasarts game, so good that more people will get to play it.
But at this point in the game I think it's safe to assume Plus is not and probably never will be the service it was two or three years ago. There was obviously a change in strategy to one providing smaller scale games. Or perhaps the strategy all along was to get subscribers on the PS3 with the big games, and wind down the budget for the PS4 and rely on people not cancelling their subs due to either losing online play or the back catalogue of titles they'd amassed.
One thing I would like to see return though, is a heads up when a title goes on a sale and then turns up in the PS Plus IGC a couple weeks later. The forum team used to do this, but I'm pretty sure Grim Fandango and some other titles were recently discounted so seeing it on the IGC this month will upset anyone who picked it up.
I guess there's no obligation for them to do this, but it's good customer service for loyal subscribers,
I recently bought Grim Fandango as it was in sale. Not too happy about this. However it's still a good game and you should all play it.
So we are getting Grim Fandango and Hardware Rivals, From my perspective not worth deleting games off my Hard drive to make room for either of these.
Just got the email. Another month of worthless games for me. Ugh.
Great, not such a fan of Grim Fandango though, but Hardware is just the kind of game you want for free.
i just want a AAA game. i dont know what the hell is wrong with sony?!
kill zone could be good !
this month they got Grim Fandango and i really like this game but its not AAA
