In case you haven't heard, Akuma is going to be in Tekken 7. The intimidating Street Fighter character certainly looks the part in his reveal trailer, but does his inclusion mean that we might see other cameos in Namco's upcoming brawler?
Apparently not, according to senior game designer Michael Murray. In an interview with PlayStation Lifestyle, Murray says that the developer doesn't want to "throw off" Tekken's world and setting by adding in too many guest fighters.
As for Akuma himself, Murray explains that "Akuma fits the bill, and we wanted to tie him into the story so that the crossover is not some cheesy gimmick". He goes on to say that fan feedback has been "really positive".
However, even after all of this, Murray admits that the company is still "open to the possibility" of more crossovers further down the line. On that note, would you like to see any more guest characters enter the Iron First Tournament? Are you happy with Akuma's inclusion? Make sense of Tekken's plot in the comments section below.

Honestly, I just see Akuma being in the game as a test to see how Tekken X Street Fighter will work out. It's cool that he's in the game, but I never was that excited about the announcement of him joining Tekken.
@shonenjump86 I think most people would agree with you. His inclusion isn't anything to get totally excited about, but like you say, it's cool all the same. Plus, he seems to be implemented into the game quite well.
@ShogunRok
Yeah, I'm sure Namco will do a great job with Akuma.
I think it's cool that Akuma is in, even though online will be flooded with Akumas. That said, I'd rather not have any more guest fighters, so some other characters have a chance to come back. For example- Where is Nina? She's one of the few characters to be in every Tekken game (and even got her own game, to boot) so leaving her out is leaving a void in the roster.
@DerMeister I can't see Tekken 7 doing a Street Fighter V and slimming the character roster down, but we don't know what Namco's going to do with the console release yet. Personally I'm hoping everyone's just included from the start - hate it when characters are cut from fighting game sequels.
@ShogunRok @DerMeister Leaving characters out is all part of the Tekken storyline, hence why Namco makes the Tekken Tag games so that way they can included every Tekken character (even ones that died like Jun) without messing up their ongoing storyline.
Well it'd be very surprising if they add any more characters after launch - unless they're free DLC, but even then... Harada has repeatedly criticised selling additional characters for fighting games, he said he regards each character as akin to a chess piece and the game works because of how they all work together. You couldn't just add a new piece to chess without messing it up. I guess that would also apply to free characters, although Tekken does commonly have characters that have identical movesets but different appearances and storylines, so maybe that could happen.
I think the way they introduced him was pretty cool, nice way of doing it, he looks like he fits in quite well. Can't wait for some more Tekken.
Sooo. What is the status of TekkenXStreetFighter? It has been extremely quiet on that front. We got the StreetFighterXTekken soo.. Where is the on that I have been waiting for?
