Republished on Saturday, 2nd January 2016: We're bringing this article back from the archives as we look back at some of Push Square's features from 2015. The original text follows.
Originally published on Monday, 16th November 2015: We're at the tail end of the crazy Christmas releases period now, and inevitably our attention is beginning to wander to next year. But while we're generally an argumentative lot here at Push Square Towers, we're all in agreement on one thing: 2016 is shaping up to be the PlayStation 4's biggest year to date.
We decided to put together an article to illustrate that, and if you've already scrolled to the bottom before reading this introduction, you'll see why. If you haven't read on yet, though, you'll find 25 upcoming titles that we think are going to be big next year on Sony's new-gen box. Sure, we haven't included every single game – there are many, many more – but that alone makes our point even more potent.
The question is: which of these are you most looking forward to – and how many of your favourites did we miss? Don't forget to let us know in the comments section below.
Dark Souls III
From Software's established approach to action role-playing games may be wearing a little thin, but with Bloodborne being one of the best games of 2015, we've no concerns over the quality of Dark Souls III. Expect enormous bosses with the best names in the biz and some brilliant artwork across the board.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
Building upon what was already a pretty good game in Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is all about giving you even more freedom when it comes to approaching and completing missions as augmented super-agent Adam Jensen. Whatever style of play that you choose to flaunt, everything that we've seen of Mankind Divided so far points to an engaging and polished futuristic affair.
Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth
Hitting PS4 as well as the Vita in early 2016, Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth looks like the Digimon title that many fans have been waiting years for. Combining monster collection with dungeon crawling and stylish turn-based battles, Cyber Sleuth could end up scratching that traditional Japanese role-playing game itch – at least to some degree.
DOOM
When DOOM was blown wide open at Bethesda's E3 2015 press conference, it was clear that developer id Software was putting its focus on one thing and one thing only: the shooting. Boisterous and satisfyingly brutal, the franchise's first new-gen outing looks set to make a dent in 2016. Sure, we doubt that it'll do much to reinvent the genre, but we all know that DOOM's going to be bloody fun – with an emphasis on bloody.
Far Cry Primal
Yes, the Ubisoft formula's getting real repetitive – but Far Cry Primal will find you climbing towers in the Stone Age. In an industry dominated by sci-fi and fantasy worlds, we're hopeful that this historical sandbox will bring something a little different to the table. Plus, who doesn't want to ride a woolly mammoth?
Final Fantasy XV
Oh look, it's that game that we've been writing about for almost a decade – what could we possibly have left to say? On a serious note, though, Final Fantasy XV could be something special – assuming that it ever actually makes its way onto store shelves. Makes us believe, Square Enix.
Firewatch
One of the many "lower profile" titles that will help contribute to the PS4's success in 2016, Firewatch sees you assume the role of a lookout ranger in the Wyoming wilderness. With talent from Telltale working on the title and artwork from Olly Moss, we anticipate that this will be one of the breakout hits of next year.
Gravity Rush Remastered
Even after just one game, Kat remains one of the more promising protagonists on PlayStation. And with Silent Hill creator Keiichiro Toyama busy beavering away on Gravity Rush 2, it's exciting to see the Vita original making the low-gravity switch to the PS4. This game's a known quantity, but we can't wait to see how Auldnoir transfers to the big screen.
Hitman
It may have the strangest rollout method in AAA history, but IO Interactive seems to be returning to Agent 47's immaculately tailored roots with reboot Hitman. Gorgeous sandbox playpens packed with murderous potential headline this stealth-'em-up, which is sure to find you getting creative with your kills for weeks.
Horizon: Zero Dawn
Free from the shackles of the Killzone series, Horizon: Zero Dawn is shaping up to be a seriously successful new series for Dutch developer Guerrilla Games. Billed as an open world role-playing game, the studio appears to be injecting the very best of Monster Hunter into a visually stunning post-post-apocalyptic setting. The potential's high for this one.
Mafia III
Assuming that new developer Hangar 13 can step away from the Grand Theft Auto comparisons that have plagued the Mafia series since its inception, then its third instalment could make you an offer that can't be refused. Set in New Orleans in 1968, Mafia III's aiming to spin a yarn all about inequality and the importance of loyalty.
Mass Effect: Andromeda
Literally taking the franchise to another galaxy, Mass Effect: Andromeda could easily end up being one of 2016's biggest deals. We obviously need to see a lot more of the game itself, but we have confidence in BioWare and what it supposedly wants to bring to the franchise with this upcoming instalment. We'd expect to finally see this sci-fi romp get the attention that it deserves at E3 next year.
Mirror's Edge Catalyst
Fans of the original Mirror's Edge managed to keep the Faith [Sorry – Ed] for seven years, and it's paid off: Mirror's Edge Catalyst is honestly looking outstanding. DICE has clearly been given the go-ahead to make this release as a bit of a passion project, and the love really comes across; the first-person parkour-'em-up controls like a dream – and it looks stunning, too.
NieR Automata
Despite cultivating a cult following, the original NieR never quite became a household name. We doubt that its sequel will either, but with Platinum Games at the helm, it's looking to really elevate its predecessor's gameplay. With some cool character designs and outrageously fast action, this is an outing well worth keeping an eye on.
No Man's Sky
Hello Games' ambitious space sim seems to grow in importance with each showing – and seeing as it's been at practically every press conference since 2013, expectations are unsurprisingly at astronomical levels right now. Whether or not No Man's Sky can actually deliver is impossible to determine, then – but we can tell you that it's going to be a big deal in 2016.
Persona 5
We all know that it's going to be good, so waiting for Persona 5 to actually release is the main problem here. As intriguing and as effortlessly stylish as ever, slaying shadows will no doubt be a staple activity of 2016. What's more, the franchise is really on the cusp of catapulting into stardom following the success of Persona 4 and all of its subsequent spin-offs. Let's just hope that Europe isn't kept waiting this time around.
PlayStation VR
Alright, we know what you're thinking: PlayStation VR isn't a game. However, Sony's virtual reality headset threatens to slather another layer of craziness on top of what is already shaping up to be an enormous year for the platform holder. We've tasted the tech and it definitely works – now all we need are some finished titles.
Ratchet & Clank
While we've tried to include as many fresh and interesting titles in this article as we can, we're quite comfortable with Ratchet & Clank offering more of the same. Insomniac Games' re-telling of the first title looks and plays exactly as you'd expect it to – but after over ten years working on the franchise, it's honed its craft. From the little snippets that we've played, it could threaten A Crack in Time's crown.
Shadow of the Beast
Brutal, eye-catching, and boasting a great gameplay flow, Shadow of the Beast may not be the most high profile title on this list, but it's certainly one that we're looking forward to. Blending almost rhythmic action with plenty of gore, it's not a subtle game, but it is downright enjoyable. If it can keep its claws dug into us throughout its finished form, then we'll be in for one heck of a satisfying ride.
Star Ocean 5: Integrity and Faithlessness
Forget about the franchise's past mistakes along with this entry's daft name, and Star Ocean 5: Integrity and Faithlessness [Urgh - Ed] is looking pretty good. Boasting a colourful cast of characters, expansive adventuring, and an action-packed battle system, the series' fifth instalment could well be the most ambitious entry yet. If it all comes together in the finished product, 2016's RPG lineup just got even better.
Street Fighter V
The brawler with a plan, Street Fighter V's life begins early next year, and it'll be kept ticking with fresh playable characters and regular game updates. If its network tests are anything to go by, then the title's already got a confirmed placement in the competitive fighting game scene, and we can't wait to see it show up at all of next year's big tournaments – we've been watching Street Fighter IV for what seems like an eternity, after all.
The Last Guardian
We'll have been waiting for it approximately ten years when it eventually arrives, but wherever Fumito Ueda's involved, you know that it's worth the pain. ICO was originally intended for release on the PSone, but the ever-young animator refused to compromise his vision and switched development to the PS2. The exact same scenario is repeating with The Last Guardian, and we expect the results to be similarly memorable.
The Witness
Announced at the PS4 reveal party and delayed more times than we can count, The Witness is Jonathan Blow's first game since breakout hit Braid – which debuted all the way back in 2008. A first-person puzzle title which is guaranteed to harbour more secrets than we care to imagine, this vibrant open world adventure looks and sounds fascinating.
Tom Clancy's The Division
It was Ubisoft's customary conference closer at E3 2013, but hype for Tom Clancy's The Division has been dwindling ever since. A third-person shooter set in a post-pandemic New York, there's some cultural commentary going on with this Christmassy escapade. The French publisher will need to work hard to recapture the positive response that the original demo received, but it'll be a special game if the final product can live up to its reveal.
Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
Uncharted 4: A Thief's End is the big one, isn't it? Certainly from a commercial sense, Nathan Drake's swansong is shaping up to be the best selling entry in the series. And from what we've seen of the game, it'll earn every unit that it moves – after all, that highway chase sequence is in a different league to practically every other video game set piece.
Do you agree that 2016's looking like the PS4's biggest year yet? Which of the above games are tickling your fancy – and which could you live without? Collect your ticket for the hype train in the comments section below.

Final Fantasy XV, NieR Automata, Star Ocean 5, Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 4, One Piece Burning Blood whatever the next yearly Dragon Ball game will be called and Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue
amd my outside chance is that the FFVII remake will be out next year although i think they might wait until 2017 for the 20th anniversary
I'm really looking forward to Star Ocean 5, that together with Disgaea 5 we're the main reasons I finally caved and bought a PS4 a month ago. Though the price drop was a factor as well.
Gravity Rush, Nier Automata, Project Setsuna, Tekken 7, Guilty Geard XRD Revelator and Final Fantasy 15 are on my radar as well.
What a list, supposing all make it for 2016! I have my reservations about one or two of them doing so. As an aside, on the indie front I'm really looking forward to Skytorn and Hyper Light Drifter, too. Role on 2016!
@FullbringIchigo Yeah, doubt we'll be playing Final Fantasy VII next year, but we should see a lot more of it. We cut some of the games you listed out, but your comments just goes to illustrate the breadth of content coming to the PS4!
@kyleforrester87 Agreed, I personally don't think Horizon will make it. Even if half of these slip - which they won't - it's still going to be an amazing year. I've not actually heard of Skytorn. googles
Fake edit: Ah yeah, this game. Looks really cool!
I predict I'm gonna be very, very poor next year lol so many great games I want coming, and I'm already behind on games I want to play.
I voted Final Fantasy XV, but honestly, all those games in looking forward too.
@get2sammyb Largely, it's Towerfalls creator being involved in Skytorn that has me excited for it. I love Towerfall!
@hYdeks YEAH , it's so awsome that its bad lol. So many games son little money and time.
Btw I'm impressed digimon has 6% ,go digimon!!!
Tekken 7???
@Davs_Due We couldn't include everything and in the interest of variety picked Street Fighter V as the "fighting" game. The fact that the list could have been triple this length shows how insane it's going to be, though!
I had to think when I voted, so that is a great thing to me.
Interested in Uncharted 4, Horizon (my vote), SFV, Nier (mostly because P*) and to a lesser extent, Ratchet and finally Doom. And I could not care less about either of those 10+ years games.
Dis gon b gud.
Uncharted 4, dark souls 3 and Rime are the games I'm looking forward too the most. First two pre ordered and I'm assuming that rime will come out next year.
@get2sammyb I see. But where is Crash Bandicoot??
Final Fantasy 15 for me since I am a long time fan. Star Ocean and Persona after that.
Far Cry Primal tops the ones listed, and I'll be getting MLB 16 The Show (not technically announced yet) as always. I'm also interested to see if Gran Turismo Sport will be released in 2016. If so, it'll be near the top of the list too!
I didnt vote because...ALL OF THEM!...really really really hoping enter the gungeon and nuclear throne finally get release dates at ps ex,been waiting forever
Incredibly tough decision but I voted on Persona 5. Like I wrote in the article, we just know that it's going to be good.
Oh man, so many awesome games. Probably most excited for Mass Effect, Alienation, Tekken & Doom. But there will be some truly amazing games so every chance those might be trumped by the competition.
Bet you can't guess what I'm excited for
@get2sammyb "Yeah, doubt we'll be playing Final Fantasy VII next year,"
7? That's a non-starter. But will we be playing 15 in '16, that's what I want to know. And where's "Dreams". That HAS to be out next year, no?
FFXV got my vote, TLG had it for 3 or 4 years but I've moved on, sorry.
I tried to vote for 6 games on the list before realizing it was 1 per customer, so I don't care for most of them, but still, w/ 5-6 games I want it doesn't matter how many I don't. And I'll need Witcher 3 and Fallout 4 when their GH or Directors cuts come out.
Lets be honest guys. The Last Guardian isn't coming next year. We all know it. If we're lucky, we might get a release date and gameplay footage at best.
Regardless, hyped for Persona 5!
D A Y U M
Day one:
The Last Guardian
Uncharted 4 (Hype)
Street Fighter V (Max hype)
Horizon (Hype)
Persona 5 (Oh Lord, give it to me now)
Dark Souls III
Gravity Rush
Pretty interested, but can wait.
Digimon Cyber Sleuth
Shadow of the Beast
Ratchet and Clank
Nier Automata
Can't bleeping wait
@rjejr We tried to stick with games that have been specifically given 2016 dates. Could be wrong but MM's only confirmed a beta for 2016, though I do agree that it'll probably be out next year.
Again, 2016 is going to be insane.
@alphadrago5 I think it'll make next year. The problem with The Last Guardian has clearly always been technical. It sounds to me like the game design was finished a long, long, long time ago, and they've just been waiting for new hardware so they could get it to run.
@Trapleton The Division?
@Thrash13 Damn, I think we actually forgot Gran Turismo Sport! Much like Dreams, though, I think the beta's only been confirmed for 2016 - even though it seems like the game will make next Christmas, too! The lineup gets crazier!
So many awesome games, it's really crazy! I voted for Horizon, but there are a lot more games I'm hoping to play:- Mirrors Edge, The Last Guardian, No Man's Sky, Deus Ex, Ratchet & Clank, Uncharted 4, Dreams, Gravity Rush Remastered and the sequel...
2016 could easily go down as one of the best years for gaming. Can't wait for it all to unfold.
Persona 5! But I must say the more I see of Star Ocean, the more I feel like I'll love it...unexpected!
Fallout 4 dlc hahaha
@kyleforrester87 The Indie front looks really exciting for next year, really looking forward to Salt and Sanctuary, Deaths Gambit, Eitr and Skytorn amongst many others!
@Hego Abzu, What Remains of Edith Finch, Fat Princess Adventures, and Wattam as well. Like I said on Twitter, this article easily could have been triple its length.
@get2sammyb Hey guys you should let us pick at least 3 games in this pool!
Star Ocean 5, Final Fantasy XV, Persona 5, Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth, plus that price drop. Time to finally get a PS4!
Next year doesn't look as good for me, I think this end of the year has been great with Fallout, Eso, Uncharted Collection, Star Wars to come... And I still need to get Batman and Dying Light! The one out of that list for me would be Uncharted 4 though.
@Frank90 I like making people pick, but thanks for the feedback. Maybe we'll do something like that at the end of the year.
@get2sammyb It's actually crazy! Edith Finch looks super interesting too, Abzu and Fat Princess aren't doing it for me at the moment though. Must check out Wattam as I keep hearing about it while your here may I ask if anyone on the site is reviewing Wasteland 2? Apologies for it being off topic but I didn't know where else I could ask this
@get2sammyb You know me too well
Tough for me to say but I went with Deus Ex in the end. Negativity surrounding the poor pre-release strategy aside, I really loved HR and can't wait for the new one. Doom was close - after Wolfenstein I'm ready for it. But I'm worried it may turn out a little two-dimensional next to BJ's emotional journey.
Steel. Stone. Concrete for miles. I wonder if there's anything in this world worth saving. Desolation. Tyranny. Enemy of endless might. I wonder if I have any friends left standing. It comes down to it, I'll fight alone. But I'll promise you this: friends, if this is where they're keeping you. I will find you, and set you free.
@Hego Wasteland 2 review code got lost in the post (seriously!) and then further lost in the holiday shuffle. We may come back to it at the end of the year, but I can't promise anything. Bit annoying really, as we would have covered it under different circumstances.
Doom will be fantastic, the editor will be a revelation for console.
I also have high hopes for the witness which strangely no one has picked.
@themcnoisy dunno about a revelation but here's hoping! Also I loved Braid but not as hyped for The Witness, hope to be pleasantly surprised though! Maybe it's just been in the making too long.
My top five most wanted from that list.
1.Mass Effect: Andromeda
2.Horizon: Zero Dawn
3.Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
4.No Man's Sky
5.Ratchet & Clank
@get2sammyb Thats perfectly understandable, thanks for getting back to me
I hate choices like this. Deciding is impossible.
Can't we have a multiple choice one once in a while? Pretty please?
@DerMeister The polling system can do it, I just like being mean.
My pick - Mirrors Edge will be a sleeper hit. The first was a great proof of concept and didnt quite hit the mark [or get the recognition] but theyll nail it this time.
I imagine ill be spending a ton on all these games, but I am most excited for Persona 5. Sorry Horizon Zero Dawn, even you, are second to it.
I chose Uncharted 4 as I love the series. The PS4 is definitely gonna be the best generation of gaming yet. It's just ridiculous. FFXV and The Last Guardian were also tempting choices though.
too many multiplatforms on the list, the list should be only about exclusives.
No Mans Sky, just to see if can fulfill it's stupendous hype. If it does, watch out, could be a massive hit. We shall see.
@Neolit my wallet died while reading this article.
@DualWielding hey... shut up
Who cares if a game is exclusive or multiplatform?
Surprised Outlast 2 isn't on this list
@DominicanGlory People who can only afford one console and need to look at exclusives to decide which one to choose; People who already have one console and are looking at whether getting the other one is worth it
I'm most looking forward to uncharted 4, and a few not mentioned, ghost reckon wildlands, trackmania turbo, homefront. Not sure if that means they won't be release this year.
I picked no mans sky it was a hard pick because the line up is so good all of theses games look great except for street fighter I'm not really a fan of fighting games but even then it still looks great and @get2sammyb you forgot about battlefield 2016 I know it hasn't been announced properly but it technically has
To my very own surprise, I voted Ratchet & Clank!
Drake!!!
You can add Tomb Raider Rise of.
@teknium_ Me too, dude! I'm absurdly hyped for Uncharted 4, but I'm a self-confessed indie nut, so... Broforce, Enter the Gungeon, Hyper Light Drifter and Nuclear Throne are my most anticipated PS4 titles.
[NOTE]: Though, like Isaac and Spelunky, Nuclear Throne will see most playtime on my Vita! Plus, Gungeon would make a particularly fantastic Vita title!
It's all about the JRPGs for me. I'm honestly kinda burned out on western open world titles, and I'm 100% not a fan of storyline-driven linear stuff.
My most anticipated title I'll be getting for PS4 is certainly Final Fantasy XV. However, Yooka-Laylee, which I backed for a Wii U version, remains my #1 game overall for next year. I miss those open-ended, mascot-based 3D platformers so much.
@AcesHigh73 i love spelunky...i downloaded a free to play version from Japanese ps store which im assuming is spelunky world(in uk and us) can't wait to put more time into it and understand a little more lol...im same as you an absolute indie nut and if the 73 in your name also has something to do with your age you are 2 years younger than me and will have been part of the public domain years, for me personally that was mostly on commodore amiga and pc later on...i think "indie" is a little over used these days especially regarding consoles as there are very few true indie games
@teknium_ Yep, the 73 in my name is my year of birth and, like you, I grew up playing videogames. First with single-game consoles, LCD flip-screens and Atari, then onto Commadore 64, Spectrum and even Acorn Electron! Great times! :0)
Why are only, like, 4 of those exclusive? That's pretty bad.
Uncharted 4 is my most anticipated release of 2016! I am including ALL releases across both PS and Xbox too. I have been waiting and wanting this ever since it was first announced - probably ever since completing Uncharted 3!
Horizon: Zero Dawn is also high up on my list and is my most anticipated new IP so deserves an honourable mention. Mass Effect is likely to climb up my list but with so little known about it, my anticipation and excitement levels are not at the highest yet. Its one of the 3rd Party games I am most interested in on this list. The Division was one I had a great deal of interest in but has decreased over the months - maybe it will climb again.
2016 seems like the year, loads of great games across a plethora of genres.
Hard to pick one or even two. But if I had to go with only two games in 2016 Uncharted 4 and Horizon without a single doubt!
I bit the bullet and picked Ratchet & Clank. It's my favorite series after all.
Ratchet, Uncharted, Horizon, SFV and Persona 5 are probably my top 5. 2016 looks great for games, I just hope for a PS4 so I don't miss out!
@JoeBlogs I've been looking forward to Tomorrow Children too - it would be good if they were able to get it done by the end of the year, but then again, if it does slip into January or February it's not gonna be a deal breaker. I'd love to know how close it is though!
@JoeBlogs @wombat5533 There's ten that are console exclusive at least - and we removed stuff like Alienation and What Remains of Edith Finch to make room. There are absolutely LOADS of exclusives on PS4 next year - it's not something that can be complained about IMO.
@ricklongo We have very similar tastes in games. Since you back Yooka-Laylee for Wii U are you looking forward to XCX, or is that too open or to story driven? I'm not sure how you can like JRPG and not like story driven, they are typically about the story. Well XC was all abut the story, and then some. XCX does look all about open world exploration w/ little story as far as I can tell. I'm looking forward to that b/c as great as XC was, Wii graphics, even output via Wii U and HDMI, still don't look great on a 52" 1080p TV. So I'm willing to sacrifice story for graphics for this 1. And I just finished the first about 2 months ago so I'm good story wise for awhile.
@get2sammyb You asked me the other day about wanting to know my PS4 thoughts when I get one. Well that's still months away, but I just decided I'm not excited about getting one. I mean I still want it, b/c I have to play Uncharted 4, R&C and FFXV, but I'm still not excited about the console. I was excited for PS1 for Parasite Eve, and I hadn't owned a console since Atari 7800 - grad school was busy - so I wanted to own one. PS2 looked so much better than PS1, going from 2D to 3D, flat to full, I was excited for the graphical leap over PS1. PS3 offered HD and blu-ray and built in HDD storage, no more memory cards. I bought a 52" HD tv for my PS3 even though my 36" SD tube tv still worked flawlessly b/c I wanted games and movies in the HD that PS3 offered. PS4 has Share, touchpad controller and a nicer menu. And still only a 500GB HDD even though all games require a full install?
So yeah, it's a great list, and I'm really excited to be playing some of those games, but I'm still not impressed, and if U4 was in the U3 engine, R&C in the ACiT/ToD engine, and FFXV in the FFXIII engine, all on PS3, I still wouldn't be buying a PS4. I'm still not feeling it. Maybe VR? Or maybe that's why Dreams looks so good to me, looks truly spec intensive, like no way no how it could run on PS3. All the remasters - TLoU, GTAV - I'm still not impressed. Same for the dual gen - MGSV, COD. And I am a graphics whore, StarFox Zero and Twilight Princess HD look like PS2 games to me. But all the PS4's look like "slightly improved" PS3 games. Though Horizon Dawn looks like it may be special, but that's currently not on my list.
So I am very much looking forward to playing these games, and I will buy a PS4 to do so next year, but it's the first console I will buy b/c I "need" to, not b/c I "want" to. I will let you know how I feel after, but that's how I feel today. Great games, but PS3 is all I need from a console.
I will buying NieR, TLG, FFIV, Uncharted, Horizon & Digimon for sure. FC Primal, STV & Persona 5 are highly probable. Will need to see Playstation VR in action before I make a decision there.
A lot of good games on that list - I wonder if my boss will let me have next year off and still pay me.
Although I don't believe for a moment that either Persona 5 or The Last Guardian will be out in 2016...or 2017 for that matter.
Does this mean there won't be an annual release of Assassin's Creed then?
@JoeBlogs But I enjoyed Tomb Raider 2013.
2016 looking to be a phenomenal year, Uncharted 4, Dark Souls 3, Alien Nation, R&C & the list goes on. I've already got a back-log of games I am playing at the moment, but come 2016 I'll be overwhelmed with them.
2016 is going to be a pricey one!
Uncharted 4 tops my list then its Deus Ex: Mankind Divided (it would be nice to see the corporate scum in charge of SE try to do something to build this game up in a positive light after they tried to destroy it with the idiotic pre-order scheme), Ratchet & Clank, Gravity Rush Remastered and Street Fighter V. The other games that interest me - Mass Effect, Horizon- will absolutely not be coming out in 2016.
@Neolit I'm with you, if even half of those games hit next year I'm going to struggle to fit them all in.
At the moment for me it's
1. Uncharted 4
2. Horizon
3. Persona 5
4. Deus Ex
5. Ratchet and Clank
I could easily write a top 15 that I'd buy out of that lot and I'll be keeping an eye out from No Man's Sky as the concept is quite brilliant and PS VR if the price is right. In any case it looks like I'll be buying 3 times as many games next year as I did this one.
@Neolit I've done that many times, I think I've got the Tomb Raider reboot on both PS3 and PS4 yet have only played a few hours of each. In fact that's partly why I never go all the way to the end and click on my library. It's a bit like an animal shelter for games, with all these abandoned icons just looking at me wanting to be played but I don't have the time. Now Fallout is here to ruin what's left of my social life 😃
I've not got a ps4 yet, but I want Playstation VR, Gravity rush 2 and Drake 4. I might pop in to town today AND PICK ONE UP. Other wise It will be very expensive if I wait till VR is out!
I could go for a new ME story. BioWare has kept my love.
I didn't feel like reading thru 90+ comments but did anyone else get tears of joy from hearing about the VALKYRIA CHRINICLES PS4 REMASTER?? So. Stoked.
Dark Souls 3 <3 <3 <3 <3
Final Fantasy XV, Horizon, Street Fighter V, Rise of the Tomb Raider and Uncharted 4… I would list more but my wallet's telling me not to. Oh yeah, and I voted for Persona 5! <3
I'm also hoping we get 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim next year!
Ooh so much to choose from. FFXV top of the pile for me but I've also just bought the Playstation 2.0 headset in readiness for Playstation VR (Amazon sale had it down to £49) and looking at that Star Ocean 5 pic it gives me a weird sensation similar to when I saw the first few shots of FFIX. On top of those I'm also hugely looking forward to Ratchet & Clank, Mirror's Edge Catalyst, Uncharted 4, Nier Automata and Last Guardian. Finally No Man's Sky is the game that in some senses I've been expecting Final Fantasy to be since FFX, I've been saying for years that when you were in a game and could lift up off the ground and fly seemlessly off a planet and then fly to other planets and land and carry on there, that would be when games had moved to another level. Combined properly with VR and it truly can be the start of future gaming.
@rjejr I'm definitely very hyped about XCX. I don't mind a cool story in my games; what I don't like much is games that are entirely built around a story, in a way that is, in my opinion, to the detriment of gameplay. For example, I've tried to finish The Last of Us on a friend's PS3 last year, and then again on my PS4 this year, and I just couldn't slog through it. For that reason, I'm not really thinking I'll be getting Uncharted 4, at least not until I can find it for dirt cheap.
As for open world games, well, I usually love them, but mainly when they're fantasy-based (such as The Witcher 3 or Skyrim) or when they're JRPGs (such as Xenoblade or Dragon Quest). What I'm kinda burned out on is those super Western modern city settings, such as GTA or Just Cause... their overall feel just doesn't seem to appeal to me as much.
Too many games...
I voted for Horizon: Zero Dawn, because we've seen more of it than The Last Guardian, which would've been my most anticipated game otherwise.
Other than that, Gravity Rush Remastered, The Witness, NieR: Automata are definitely day one games as well. I'm intrigued by the gameplay of Gravity Rush and its sequel, so it's great that a remaster of the original game is coming. The Witness is an awesome looking puzzle I'm looking forward to. It reminds me a lot of Myst, which I played quite a lot when I was younger (though I can't recall if I every beat that game or not...). Well, and NieR, because of Platinum Games; I have yet to be let down by a one of their games.
Uncharted 4 is on my list as well, but not until I have played through the Uncharted Collection.
@JoeBlogs Good. I'll wait until the PS4 version is out and then decide which version should I buy.
@ricklongo That's kind of how I feel about Zelda games. First time I played Windwaker back on the Gamecube I played an hour then sent it back. Took me 2 playthrus to get thru Twilight Princess, 20 hours each about 6 months apart. It wasn't until I played Skyward Sword that I understood just how great TP was, b/c SS was a lullaby. A beautiful lullaby perhaps, but I didn't game for lullabys. Hyrule Warriors on the other hand I thought was fantastic.
It took me 30 hours (thats what my save file says) to get thru TLoU and I liked it all except for 1 very hard boss battle that took me way too many tries. So I think I've always been more story driven, less open world - I don't play FPS or western RPG at all. And Nintendo just kills me w/ its lack of voice acting but Monolith is it's own entity, so I'm really looking forward to XCX, even if it turns out to just be a cross between the story from Star Ocean: Last Hope and the moon from FFXIII. I can live with that.
Out of this list, I'm interested in Far Cry Primal, Final Fantasy XV, Firewatch, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Mass Effect: Andromeda, No Man's Sky, Ratchet & Clank, Star Ocean 5, The Last Guardian, and The Witness.
Ow, my wallet. D:
Seriously, what an amazing year coming up for Sony. My Wii U, otoh, is never gonna see the light of day it looks like (except for Zelda(?) and Star Fox).
@GraveLordXD Exactly.
It's impossible to know where to start. It doesn't include stuff I'm hoping to see in 2016 like Wild, Rime, Dreams, Amplitude.
It's the variety that's mind-boggling.
@Neolit haha yeah those raiders need to learn some discretion. I'm just about to teach the raiders of the wasteland a lesson as The Silver Shroud 😃 I only wish you could continue to use the dialogue options out and about in the world. For now my own voice will have to do, well when I'm alone anyway 😃😃😃
Mass effect is my top, then uncharted, followed by no mans sky, the witness, and maybe the division. My only concern with mass effect is how little we really know. And I'm deeply concerned they may bring inquisitions war table to mass effect, which for me was a jarring minus to an otherwise splendid game. I just want mass effect to be what we know, on steroids with a few pleasant surprises mixed in, like fallouts settlements. Hell they can delay it a year, or even 2, provide me with the trilogy remastered (most notably update 1 controls) and I won't be barking for another mass effect for a minimum of a year. 2016 could be monstrous for sure, but there's a lot of question marks on the list imo. I'm mostly looking forward to e3 more than anything. Just to see what's next. In the meantime, fallout is going to take me through till the spring.
Mass Effect Andromeda vs. Uncharted 4 vs. No Man's Sky vs. The Division
I didn't realize Reggie Fils-Aime was the star of Mafia III...
Uncharted 4, Mass Effect 4 wait and see on other titles. I am normally a big farcry fan but the Primal one does not appeal to me.
Some of these games are more exclusive to Xbox and most playable on Xbox . But it will still indeed make this gaming year amazing.
Tons of games I'm looking forward to across all my systems, I'm not sure which ones to give attention to and which ones not to. There's some mind boggling variety in games this year, completely ignoring platforms. Action-platformers, action games, JRPGs, shooters, racing games, fighting games, etc.
Gravity Rush Remastered, Gravity Rush 2, Uncharted 4, Ratchet & Clank, and Far Cry Primal interest me the most on PS4. Zelda and maybe Pokken or Star Fox on my Wii U. Fire Emblem Fates, Pokemon Z, and maybe Final Fantasy Explorers or Bravely Second on my 3DS. Too many games, not enough time or money.
Only 1% of votes for Mirror's Edge: Catalyst? Really? Even if it was just a longer Mirror's Edge with less/better combat it would still win my heart. Well, except for the dumb title.
@wariowarewolf I'm with you - Mirror's Edge Catalyst is amazing.
why do you keep forgetting Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue
I think 2016 will be the best year for the PS4. I'm really hyped for Mirror's Edge: Catalyst, Ratchet And Clank, and Mafia 3, just to name a few.
(But, will it be a good year for Steam Greenlight? Probably not, Digital Homicide still exists.)
Can honestly say I think this is overhyped.
There are 2 games out of that 25 that I'm genuinely excited about and will/have pre-ordered.
3 games in interested in buying when they are £20 and under. And 1 or 2 possibly interested in if they were dirt cheap.
For me its:
& maybe
Dark Souls 3 (omg) & Mass Effect 4 (best sci-fi franchise atm, better than SW)...., besides Zelda Wii U (or NX) are my most hyped of 2016.
Would have (a lot) preferred The Last of Us 2 over Uncharted 4...., but still a bit hyped over U4, besides Doom, FFXV and Hitman.... (and possibly Gears of War 4, if they can save the franchise).
But truly hyped over DS3, ME4 & Zelda Wii U!
There is a lot of good stuff coming up. The stuff I'm looking forward to is below:
And that's the stuff we know about!
@get2sammyb I cant't vote, where is Overwatch???

Collage of upcoming games I'm looking forward to. My head is spinning.
Quick, someone borrow me some money!!
BTW, pretty excited for Overwatch despite being paid...
@AFCC Overwatch is paid what???
2016 has a slow start though, there's nothing I want to buy really until Dark Soul's and that's a couple of month's away.
I will stab some one at sega if Valkyria Chronicles remastered doesnt come to north america in 2016
Far cry primal.
