Activision's ready to cross the streams it seems, as word is that it's working on a new Ghostbusters game for the PlayStation 4. The title β which will apparently launch alongside the new movie β has not yet been confirmed by the publisher, but it's leaving things late these days, with its Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles title being a prime example.
Retail Merchandiser claims that the release will be "full-fledged", so expect something a little meatier than downloadable spin-off Sanctum of Slime. Whether it will feature the new female cast is unclear, but if it's being promoted alongside the flick, we'd be surprised if it opted for the original cast. Either way, we hope that it plays like the 2009 PlayStation 3 game, because that was surprisingly rad.

If it isn't the original crew, which it can't be for obvious reasons, count me out. I have zero interest in the reboot. To me it's like TMNT without Leo, Don, Raph and Mike.
I'm guessing chick flick tie-in with the chick flick cast.
Anybody wanting to play the original movie cast can do so in Lego Dimensions for about $135, give or take.
@rjejr
I actually haven't played that smaller downloadable Ghostbusters game yet, Sanctum of Slime I believe it was. Did you ever try that?
@crazykcarter
The reboot might be ok, but the original is a classic.
No interest in the reboot whatsoever, can we just have the PS3 game remastered instead?
Probably a new film tie in.
I'd love to see the original cast do it, but without Egon's voice (since his passing), it could be hard unless they work his voice in from the past movies. To me, I'm not even excited about the 3rd film...Ghostbusters is and always will be an 80's film...the special effects make it more humorous, and I feel that with the computer effects now, the film will try to get too real and forget it's comical roots...plus, how can they do a 3rd without Bill Murray, Dan Akroyd, Harold Ramis (RIP), Ernie Hudson, Annie Potts, Sigourney Weaver and Rick Moranis?
I loved the original Ghostbusters movies like another poster said a big part of my childhood in the 80's. I can not imagine a reboot without the original guys. To be honest most reboots of films or remakes are not my thing. Often they try and recreate something that had its moment at the time. I did enjoy ghostbusters games and remember them being challenging. Not really got interest in a new game.
The fact that Activision is working on this game doesn't bode well, considering it's a movie tie-in
The ps3 game was awesome and the place where my first trophy came from. Will always have a special place in my gaming memory. If the game is new cast I will wait and see, but if original 100% buy.
I still fondly remember completing Ghostbusters way back on the Commodore 64. You had to run into that building through the Marshmallow Man's legs at the end.
"It's just a couple of wavy lines"
Still my favourite movie to this day.
I loved the 2009 game is it to much to ask for a the new ghostbusters cartoon art style!
@crazykcarter
According to IMDB Aykroyd is one of the character writers, we'll see how it goes. I think the time for a new Ghostbusters movie has long since passed but who knows. It depends how well the new writers work in today's humor with what made the original so great.
@Gamer83 I think I played the demo, and it wasn't worth my time. I don't like that almost top down almost twin shooter gameplay. Shovelware w/ a license.
@Gamer83 It wasn't good. There is no voice acting, and it didn't even really seem like it had anything to do with Ghostbusters...just a cheap action game with the Ghostbusters' name on it to sell it...yup, I was a sucker who bought it...I played for about an hour and never went back to it.
The New ghostbusters film is being written by Dan Akroyd...with a little that was written by Harold Ramis before he passed. Bill Murray and Akroyd are cast to make a cameo appearance, but other than that, going to an all-female cast is kind of weird...wonder who will play Annie Potts, Rick Moranis or Sigourney Weaver's parts. Other than that, it's not a remake, it's a continuation, but if you're like me and was a fan of the original cast and films, the real 3rd movie is the past Ghostbusters game that came out for PS3 and 360...that was written by Akroyd and Ramis and had the original cast (minus Potts, Moranis, Weaver and Ernie Hudson). This new one will flop and kill the series, but I'm glad I still have the original 2 films and the cartoon series to keep me happy.
The wii/ps2 version of the 2009 game was awesome, if you see it cheap grab it and have a buddy come over since it's local coop.
@JLPick Fans are always fun they help a series or kill it with no reason. I didn't see the movie so i will wait until I start saying its crap. A lot of fans stay in the past just like a lot of the game generation saying that everything is better in the past.
@vegeta11 yeah the ps3 game was really fun . I think there id a remastered version on wii U , if you guys hhave one.
