Yes, before you say it, we know that we've been here before. Those of you who remember us banging on about an action role-playing game by the name of Bound by Flame will know that we were quite excited for the BioWare-esque title, but ultimately, it didn't live up to its potential.
And we get it: you could easily say the same thing will happen with The Technomancer - the next RPG from developer Spiders Studio, but hey, we're once again willing to take a risk and say that this game looks pretty cool.
The release's newest trailer does a great job of setting the mood: with events taking place on the dusty surface of Mars, we're really liking the look and feel of the environments. Nail on some solid gameplay and we could be onto an enjoyable, quirky RPG.
Give it a watch for yourself and let us know if you're similarly intrigued in the comments section below.

Wasn't Total Recall at some point gonna be called "The Technomancer"?
Looks promising, let's just hope the voice acting is better than it is in Bound By Flame.
I've bee following this game.. I actually enjoyed bound by flame for what it was. I feel as though if the studio had more money to create that game it could have been really great. I enjoyed the combat a lot.
Hopefully they've been given a bigger budget and some time to really polish this one. It would be really cool to see a new dev step into the AAA spotlight... we've been relying on the same developers/publishers for the big games especially rpgs for a while now.. it'd be nice to see some fresh blood.
Rage, PS3, hmm...
@Boerewors Definitely had a Total Recall vibe, if Vin DIesel's Riddick played Arnie's part. (Which reminds me, I still need to see Riddick 3, whatever it was called.) And I thought Riddick even before he showed up at the 1:!5 mark. Though the lightning guy seemed like the villain in Riddick as well.
Intriguing. The title puts me off, b/c anything w/ "mancer" at the end makes me think they are simply going for the the easy "Neuromancer" name recognition, but I'm still intrigued. But it's hard to tell how much playing there is, b/c I also got a Telltale's Game of Thrones vibe. And also a little bit of Starhawk single player, though I don't expect anything like that here.
Will follow. It would be hard to forget w/ that name.
I'm liking it. But I know to be weary of these games. I'm hoping it is at least playable. If it's at least a 7/10 I'll be happy enough to buy it.
@rjejr I want to like it because the setting is so intriguing. But I saw early gameplay footage and the game had a real 'Bound by Flame' feel to it. It ran almost the same as BbF with reused assets and animations but instead of swordplay I remember the character had more Infamous like attacks at his disposal.
But I'll definitely keep an eye on it; I like these smaller studios that aren't afraid to try and make a game that has triple A potential. Ultimately they lack the skills and mostly budget of let's say CD PR, but they still aim for the same type of game with comparable quality. Failing gracefully is so much better than not trying at all and with the benefit gone of having a launch window game, I hope they've managed to rise up to the challenge and give us the game they envisioned when they started developing.
BBF was OK at best when it released, still got it bc at the time there was literally no fantasy style rpgs on the ps4. Could be cool if they polish it up and take their time. What is the name of that other space rpg looking game? Noooo not mass effect, it had something to do with machines and the setting showed a person in a futuristic looking underground tunnel of sorts with large strange machines to fight. I want to say it is being developed by the guys that did Metro, could be wrong on that though.
@Boerewors I don't know what Bound by Flame is so that lack of prejudice probably makes it easier for me to like this.
Ima be honest.
It looks freakin awesome.
Its one of those games that's been bubbling under and because I haven't seen any more info since that 'spider in the library' video months ago, its got pushed down my 'wanted' list by other games.
I must admit, the new video looks good and interesting. I just hope it lives up to expectation - still no idea on a release date...
Havent enjoyed any game made by Spiders Studio, "Of Orcs and Men" being the only one that was slightly decent. I'll be avoiding this one.
