Square Enix is sparing no expense on Final Fantasy XV it seems, announcing that Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children co-director Takeshi Nozue has been quietly working on a brand new full-length film: Kingslaive: Final Fantasy XV. The movie will launch this summer via digital distribution platforms and on Blu-ray as part of some of Final Fantasy XV's special editions.
In addition to the top-tier CG work, the publisher has assembled an all-star cast to feature in the flick, with Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul, Game of Thrones' Lena Headey, and The Lord of the Rings' Sean Bean all on board. Sony Pictures will handle distribution. The plot itself will take place shortly after Noctis and his band of brothers embark on their roadtrip in the game, and will reveal more about key characters Luna and King Regis.

Man do you guys remember final fantasy spirits within? I still don't fully know what the heck was happening in that movie.
Oh man the hype is strong with this one!
It's wonderful to see how Final Fantasy/Games industry has such a pull to garner such a cast.
Say what you will about Square and quality of recent instalments aside, they've done a great job of bringing FF to the mainstream market.
What's a laive?
@sonicmeerkat This is make by Advent Children crew, which is awesome CGI movie imo.... Can't wait for this one, more than the game itself!
@Fath https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lathe that's as close as I can get. You use them in mechanical engineering.
@Fath @themcnoisy I think they mentioned something about them being similar to Knights during the event. Anyways, its Glaive and not Laive.
@Fath @WanderingBullet Glaive is a pole with a blade on the end (like a really long axe) used by Pikemen in civilisation 3. You get them when you level up your warrior unit. So maybe that's the answer.
@themcnoisy Yeah, but I think the King's "knights" are referred to as Glaives in FFXV. I could be wrong, though.
@whywai88 Thats pretty cool, I didn't know this was made by the Advent Children crew. I quite enjoyed that movie. Not sure how I feel about Nyx's character design, though and Luna's face looks totally different from the game.
Looks like standard Final Fantasy movie fare. But I'll watch it. I'm sure ifs worth 2 hours of entertainment
Wow, a movie, an animated short series, and a game! Square has been BUSY! No wonder it's taken 10 years haha. Everything looks so good, I'm excited now!
Awesome, I never expected a full length movie
