It was great night for the PlayStation 4 at the 2016 BAFTA Game Awards, as 11 of the gongs went to titles for Sony's new-gen format – five of which being console exclusives. Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, the haunting adventure game by Dear Esther developer The Chinese Room, did particularly well, scoring awards for music and audio achievement. Merle Dandridge, who voiced Kate in the game, also took home the best performer gong.
Meanwhile, Until Dawn scored a much deserved award for Best Original Property, while Bloodborne took the plaudits for Best Game Design. The fantastic Life Is Strange beat out The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to win Best Story, as Rocket League got the nod in the multiplayer, sports, and family categories. Batman: Arkham Knight was deemed the Best British Game, leaving Fallout 4 to take Best Game. Bizarrely, there was nothing for CD Projekt Red on the night.

I disagree with Fallout 4, it's OK, but nothing special. I got bored of it quite quickly. The rest seems pretty fair though.
I think for best game I do agree with Fallout 4, definitely an A+ game compared to what's out there.
I thought PS games had dominated but a lot are multi-platform... Probably sold more on PS4 in some cases (not sure about Rocket League though as that may actually of sold more on XB1 thanks to PS+/IGC)
In some cases it seems they wanted to spread the awards around - Best British Game - Batman but Her Story (nominated) picks up 3 other awards. Happens with other categories too. Can't believe the Witcher 3 didn't win anything - not even nominated in Music but nominated in Audio Achievement. Ori wins artistic achievement, but what did it achieve artistically? Its a good looking game wrapped around a 2D platformer - compared to Batman where the world starts to go 'mad' around you as Batman gets more 'crazy' (which I think is one of the best, most underated and most artistic features but often gets overlooked or missed). Fallout 4 - best game Hahaha - Fallout 3.5 more like!!
Certainly a strange set of winners in my opinion...
Makes me wonder how the Baftas decide - it doesn't seem like its decided by gamers!
Good for the BAFTAS to recognise some of these games, Rocket League is the best sports game, her story is weird and compelling - but its nowhere near Rocket League.
Why is witcher 3 in the persistent genre?
Oh it's the Bafta jokes, er, awards.
All nominated British games won a prize except Tearaway. 3ds games do not exist. Bloodborne is the only Japanese game to win something.
They're a joke. Handheld games aren't recognised as real games and are lumped with mobile in a separate list (strange consindering handheld and mobile are nothing alike, apart from being playable on a portable system). How is Grow Home for example a nominee for best game design? I can name a dozen of games that are a better fit.
Don't agree with Fallout 4 - mighty fine game though it is. To me it felt like a (good) incremental upgrade. It didn't really blow anyones world away or change an existing formula.
Still EGTTR deserved the Best Music - I read on Jessica Curry's site that she and the Chinese Room have made virtually no money on the soundtrack because of Sony's ownership. Shocking - it is played regularly on Classic FM.
Bafta always make a fool of themselves with their awards!
I'm happy to see Everybody's Gone to the Rapture get the recognition it deserves. Incredible experience. If you haven't played it yet, give it a chance. Well worth your time
It might not be a PlayStation game, but super glad to see Her Story do so well. Would love to see Sam Barlow's sublime FMV detective adventure come to Vita! Hey, if it works on iPhone, right?!
@Octane They are still real games whether you like it or not. It's a game, just like any other game out there be it Mobil, PC, console, or tablet. The only thing that separates them from one another is the genre of games, be it Action/adventure, platformer, racing, fighting, RPG, or whatever else.
@BAMozzy Brits probably didn't nominate witcher 3 for anything because they felt it too closely resembled Europe overall
@Napples A lot of prejudism and political BS set in an rural antiquated world full of monsters....
Sounds like Britain to me!
As a well rounded gamer who plays most genres spanning across all platforms, it's disheartening to see the greatest games not even mentioned. These awards would be fine if it were just PS4 game awards. Wait, no, not even then. There are far greater games that deserve credit- even on PS4
Let me set it straight for those of us who play games across all platforms.
PS4 Games: 4
X1 Games: 4
Nintendo Games: 4
Best Game: Rise of the Tomb Raider
Game Design: Bloodborne (I can't argue)
Multiplayer: Rocket League/Splatoon
Story: The Witcher 3
Sports: Rocket League
Original: Splatoon
Debut: Ori & the Blind Forest
Family: Mario Maker
Artistic: Yoshi's Wooly World
Mobile: Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate
Innovation: MGSV (open world stealth)
@Napples
No award nominations are worth flipping out over. With that said, if people are upset Splatoon didn't win anything, it's probably because it's one of the greatest new IP's to release in a generation. And I say this as a PS4/X1/Wii U/3DS/Vita owner. Many Nintendo fans don't have a PS4/X1 so they lack a frame of reference. Just like many PS4 owners lack a Wii U/3DS/X1 so they lack a frame of reference.
Fallout 4, Best game????
sorry but there were a lot of better games out over the past year
can't help but feel that most of these winners just win because of their name/franchise
also why are Handheld and Mobile in the same category?, THEY AINT
the people at the BAFTAS can't even get that right!
