Oh no, the E3 press conference times are beginning to trickle in. Every year, the staff here at Push Square are subjected to the horror that is the Electronic Entertainment Expo, where we're basically forced to stay up three days straight and write approximately 12 billion articles. So you'll have to excuse us when we feel tempted to plug our ears and shy away from news like this.
Ubisoft's slapped a date on its 2016 presser, which will probably include the likes of For Honor and Watch Dogs 2. Come to think of it, this may be the first E3 in a long while that won't feature an Assassin's Creed title, seeing as the series is taking a break this year. But hey, the publisher may still find a way to crowbar the franchise into its show, so we're not ruling anything out.
The event will take place on the 13th June at 21:00PM BST/13:00PM PST/16:00PM EST. Will you be watching? Don't let the hype get to you in the comments section below.

9PM is a nice time slot. Hopefully Sony can go early as a result of EA shuffling around. PLEASE.
Is E3 later this year?, always thought it was early June it started.
Can't say I am excited by Ubisofts upcoming releases - well those I know about. Wildlands is the only game that has any 'moderate' appeal but maybe we will see something at this years E3 to excite me.
There is a good chance they will show a first trailer for the Assassin's Creed movie !
@get2sammyb Whatever Sony does they have to make sure they don't go earlier than Microsoft or Microsoft could really turn tables on them.. I can see it Sony announces PS4K... then Microsoft Announces Xbox One slim explaining that its only a physical redesign because they are not going to betray the people who supported them so far and ensuring that they would continue to treat all Xbox One users to the same experience for the remaining of the generation, no second class citizens... then public opinion totally turns on Sony
For Honor seems to be garnering some positive attention, but still not sure if it is something I would be interested in. All in all Ubi is a bit meh to me. Their games are good enough I suppose, but they all just feel kinda bland, or watered down if that makes sense. Will probably still get Watchdogs 2, actually liked the first one.
is Square-Enix going to have a conference again this year?
"Bring back Mr. Caffeine" - you so silly!! I just hope they bring back Aisha Tyler - she's the highlight of the show for me every year!
@DualWielding how are they "betraying" the people that have supported them, the PS4K will have prettier games... THAT'S IT!
@get2sammyb Isn't Sony always 1 or 2 Monday night / Tuesday morning for you? I feel like all their presentations everywhere are late at night.
@viciousarcanum we don't know but if its going to be like the New 3DS then PS4K is bad news for original PS4 owners who do not want or cannot afford to invest in PS4K

@DualWielding Meh, they'll announce what they announce. They start planning this stuff months and months in advance, so they only have room to tweak the tiniest of details on the day anyway.
I heard a new rumour recently that Nintendo have made a deal with Ubisoft. The deal is for exclusivity of BEYOND GOOD AND EVIL 2 for the Nintendo NX.
I really hope that rumour isn't true because I absolutely loved the original BEYOND GOOD AND EVIL.
This game has been in and out of development for a VERY long time.
I understand why these exclusivity deals are in place, but to be honest I am getting sick of them. Sony got SFV and maybe NMS console exclusivity and Microsoft got Titanfall, Rise of the Tomb Raider (Timed I know, but still.) and Sunset Overdrive. Now if Nintendo have snatched up BG&E2 I will not be happy because I won't be getting a Nintendo NX until its a few years old. I have enough consoles as it is.
@get2sammyb Have you heard anything about that BG&E2 rumour mate?
@stevie85 As far as I know its still being held in June. The second week of June I think mate.
@BAMozzy The only game from Ubisoft I really want is BEYOND GOOD AND EVIL 2. I loved the first game and according to Ubisoft BG&E2 has been in development for a very long time.
I just hope the rumour that Nintendo getting it as an exclusive for the NX isn't true.
@DualWielding Thats a good point. If Microsoft didn't go first at E3 2013 I think things would be very different in regards to console sales. From what I heard Sony had around 3 different conferences lined up and depending on what Microsoft announced Sony would use the conference speech that would better suit them. I also heard that Sony's original plans for the PS4 weren't very different from what Microsoft had planned for the XB1. After thay saw the reaction to Microsofts XB1 announcement they decided to use a backup briefing.
Whether that was true or not you can be sure that Microsoft will be bring their A game since they know Sony has the better year this year for its PlayStation exclusives and the launch of PSVR.
Whatever happens its certainly going to be an interesting event for Sony, Microsoft and not forgetting Nintendo with their NX announcement.
@get2sammyb is there going to be a live stream here or do I have to use IGN.
Let us make some E3 songs to celebrate E3.
@viciousarcanum How would you feel if you went out and purchased a PS4 in May this year only for Sony to announce they're releasing a better PS4 soon. Im sure there's people that have had to save up for a longtime for a PS4 and finding out that if they had waited a little longer they could have got a better system.
To be honest I don't think the PS4K will be more powerful, as I think its just going to be for Netflix and other media. It will also probably have the PSVR processing unit built in too. There is absolutely zero chance it will output games in 4K because it would raise the cost of the PS4 way to high. Only really high end gaming PC's can run games in 4K and they certainly aren't cheap.
@andrew20 Yeah, we'll have live stream, live blog, and so on.
@WARDIE "If Microsoft didn't go first at E3 2013 I think things would be very different in regards to console sales. From what I heard Sony had around 3 different conferences lined up and depending on what Microsoft announced Sony would use the conference speech that would better suit them."
This is nonsense. You can't just pivot on the spot like that. The only thing that could have changed is the delivery of Tretton's speech - maybe he played up to the crowd more. But all of these decisions are decided long, long, long before anyone gets on stage.
I mean, Shawn Layden recently said in an interview that Sony's been planning E3 2016 since January. You don't just scrap six months of work in the two hours before you get on stage.
@WARDIE On BG&E2, I read the same rumour you did. It's not impossible, but doesn't seem very likely to me. Stranger things have happened, though.
@get2sammyb "You don't just scrap six months of work in the two hours you get on stage" You do if its worth millions of dollars. Its called being prepared for anything by having a back up. If that is nonsense in your opinion then wow!
@WARDIE But... But... But... Nah, you're crazy. You're not just suggesting that they had a different conference in mind - you're also suggesting they were building two different systems, and they switched to the one that gave them the biggest competitive advantage. You just can't change stuff like that on the spot.
@get2sammyb I just wanted to stay away from Ign.
@get2sammyb This link is just one of many sites that reported on it.
http://www.technobuffalo.com/2014/07/10/sony-changed-its-e3-2013-script-after-negative-xbox-one-blowback/
@WARDIE All that article says is:
"There have been a lot of rumblings that Sony changed its minds on DRM and used games following Microsoft’s nearly disastrous presser. House says that isn’t the case.
It is interesting, though, that they decided to rewrite their presentation in favor of throwing Microsoft under the bus."
So Sony changed the script, right? It didn't change its stance at all, according to House - it just decided to stick the boot in more than it would have, which basically falls under what Sammy said.
I'm really hoping For Honor ends up having a beta. I'm interested but kinda on the fence about it.
Those armors looks pretty sick. It'd be great if For Honor has a customization feature as well.
@andrew20 No problem, we've got your back!
@get2sammyb Wardie knows what he's talking about. And he didn't say they were building 2 systems. Just like Microsoft didn't build 2 different systems. They only changed coding to eliminate the DRM features. Both companies were preparing for the switch over to streaming and digital media. It was their way of "easing" people into it. And yes Sony did have multiple press scripts. For one, that all came out during the big hack/leak a while back. And any multi-billion dollar company would do the same. They always have contingencies in place to cover their ass and protect their bottom line. It's not that hard for them to grab a different script off the table after hearing people's reactions to the XB1 conference and also seeing it immediately on Twitter/Twitch chat.
@WOOKiEKiLL If y'all say so.
@get2sammyb of course they didn't have 2 systems... but they surely would have been watching Microsoft conference and had contingency plans based on difference scenarios... for example, they made a big deal of the announcement of the PS4 $399.99 price point because they already knew Microsoft's system was more expensive... I'm sure they have alternate plans for the scenario were Xbox One was cheaper or same price
It's funny, I find myself largely bored by Ubisoft's bigger output, but their more niche titles like Valiant Hearts, Child of Light and the new Rayman games exciteme me much more.
Having said that, I'm looking forward to seeing how For Honor looks - but I'll probably just watch the highlights of the show. I find Ubisoft try a little too hard to be cool and meta.
