Uncharted 4: A Thief's End has enjoyed reasonably healthy opening sales in Japan, claiming the top spot on the software charts and selling through 128,725 copies. While not a huge amount, it's a good start for the PlayStation 4 exclusive, and we'd wager that it'll stick around in the top 20 for a couple of weeks at least. Sadly, Nathan Drake's latest is really the only title worth mentioning this time around, as it was the only new release last week.
Things are a little more interesting when it comes to hardware, at least. The PS4 once again held its ground in first place, shifting 23,239 units. That means Sony's current-gen machine is sitting around 2.8 million total sales in Japan, putting it well within reach of the Wii U's lifetime sales of 3.1 million units. Give the PS4 a couple of months, and it'll most likely surpass Nintendo's home console.

Do we have complete day 1 and 1st week total sales numbers? I'm hearing %66, %67 of UC3 which supposedly was around 3.8M. But those may be specific regions only. I guess we will have to wait for the actuals.
Not that I really care about sales but it is interesting data.
129k is certainly an impressive start considering that is more than 5x the amount the 2nd placed game sold and more than all of the 19 other placed games managed combined
That's pretty good. Especially for Japan. Good to see that Uncharted is doing well over there too.
Oh sure, now you mention Wii U. What, you couldn't find sales numbers for the Dreamcast? Low hanging fruit indeed.
Shout out to X1 nearly doubling it's weekly sales.
Maybe "Sell in May and go away" should apply to videogame gazing as well?
hahaha.x box one 115 units sold wtf.word up
@rjejr
As you said in your NintendoLife post, who is going to pay 300 dollars for a system with no new games on the horizon.....
The 3DS is still living to see another day though.
@sub12
3DS can probably go another two years at least if Nintendo wants, which is why I don't totally write off Tatsumi Kimishima's statement about NX not replacing 3DS. It's total nonsense when he says it's not a replacement for Wii U, however.
@Gamer83
Utter nonsense indeed.
Does it play video games? Check
Does it output to TV? Check (presumably)
Does Wii U stop seeing support afterwards? You already know. Check.
Then yes, it's replacing Wii U.
He can say all he wants about that 3rd pillar nonsense. They can't simultaneously support 3 platforms. Heck, they can barely support 2
@JaxonH
Sadly, it's the typical PR stuff that all these companies do. They think all consumers are idiots who can't cut through the bs.
@sub12 As long as 3DS has a yearly supply of Monster Hunter and Pokemon I think it does ok. And Japan has a near weekly supply of new Yokai Watch games. And the new Puzzles & Dragons X looks nice. Not sure about the rest of the world, but 3DS is fine in Japan. Heck even the Vita is fine in Japan, they sure do like their mobile gaming.
Well that's a good start, I wonder if it'll keep selling in the longrun or if it'll disappear from the top10 next week.
Hot damn, the totals for pretty much all Nintendo games and Powerful Pro Baseball are way up there.
