Breaking: Konami still makes video games. The publisher has announced PES 2017: Pro Evolution Soccer for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 today, with its full unveiling scheduled to coincide with the Champion's League final on Saturday between Manzanares and Chamartin – er, we mean Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid. Obvs.
The reveal will be complemented by the 2016 PES World Finals, whereby 32 of the top Pro Evo players will battle it out over a €15,000 prize and tickets to the final later that day. The competition will be held pitch-side at the San Siro, which is pretty freakin' cool. But enough about the eSports angle, what's going to be new in PES 2017?
Well, it sounds like Konami's invested a lot of effort into the passing aspect of the game. The all-new Real Touch system will adapt the way different players bring the ball under control, while Precise Pass will put more emphasis on the position of your players to determine the accuracy of their passes. This adds "a genuine feeling of excitement when a defence is split with an inch-perfect ball" the press release reads.
Much more will be revealed over the coming weeks, and at E3 2016 next month. Are you a PES person, or do you prefer FIFA? Hum the Champions League anthem in the comments section below.

PES is way way better than FIFA...
PES 16 plays fantastic. I got all the proper kits via an option file. It's actually quite fun.
I've heard that the recent PES's have been much better, but couldn't get them because Boro weren't in it but now...
I still play PES 2016 every day. The next version, unless they balls it up, is a day 1 purchase.
@adf86 Boro are in PES 16. I just thumped them a few minutes ago. Sorry about that.
As much as I dislike Konami, I have to admit that in the last two years they indubitably provided the best football games in the market. Fifa was good until 2013, now their games are garbage (even if they have all the licenses)
I'm looking forward to by PES2017 day one.
@stevie85 Is it hard to use such a option file?
@stevie85 Wait what? Are championship teams in them.
@Flaming_Kaiser It's very simple all you need really is a USB stick. There are several tutorials on Youtube on how to do it.
@adf86 Yes Championships teams are in the game
I am PES all the way. Very excite about this.
@Flaming_Kaiser @stevie85 Once the option files are in and you do a little editing yourself you forget there was no license in the first place. I even have the German league and the english championship.
@KAPADO Yes of course but the tutorials explain all this. My only complaint about PES is the presentation if the game. Hopefully they can get it looking a bit slicker un future versions.
As long as Michael Owen isn't doing commentary
@adf86 yeah, but unlicensed
@ShadowofSparta Amen to that!!! I refuse to watch btsports cos of that monotonous tosser
@rykkchii He's till way better than Andy Townsend [shudder]. Careful what you wish for! lol
@adf86 teeside reds? So chuffed that Boro are finally back. UTB!!
@fabisputza00 PES 2015 wasn't good, in my opinion it was worse than Fifa 2015. Pes 4 is were its at. Old skool.
@Flaming_Kaiser unnecessarily difficult. Konami should stick their grubby mitts into the wads of cash they hoard and pass it to some associations.
Kick Off is the next big footy game. Go buy that instead £12.99 in Argos.
@themcnoisy We are all entitled to have different opinions after all
I was a big fan of Winning Eleven (PES) back in the days. Pes2015 and Pes2016 doesnt seem to be much different in my opinion. They are both great games with very few flaws.
@stevie85 Exactly, the presentation is just sad. That's the only thing Fifa beats them in...And licenses.
PES AAALLL THE WAAAAYYY!!!
@KAPADO I don't think Fifa is better than PES in every aspect of presentation, though. Sure they have the licenses, better menus, commentary, etc., but player likenesses are a lot better in PES. Also, I'm a big Champions League and Europa League fan and having those two fully licensed competitions is great for PES!
@KAPADO That is good to hear of it was to hard I would have never bothered.
@themcnoisy I can understand that Konami does pay those kinds of cash they will never beat FIFA because of the name and it's a way to big risk.
