The comments in our live chat last night suggested that many of you still aren't convinced by PlayStation VR, but Sony will be thinking that it can make this thing a success with Star Wars, Batman, and Final Fantasy games on the horizon. And it confirmed during its E3 2016 press conference that the peripheral will launch on 13th October in North America β it's not entirely clear if that date applies to Europe as well, but we'll check in with the platform holder to find out.
According to executive Shawn Layden, more than 50 games will release for the device before the end of the year, and then it'll kick 2017 off in style with Resident Evil 7 β which you'll be able to play entirely in virtual reality. We're really, really excited to give that a go. Are you still unconvinced by VR, or are you slowly coming around to the idea? Tour a different dimension in the comments section below.

I am looking forward to VR and do have it pre-ordered. First iteration of any new tech is a risk but I think the potential is there which I never felt about any other 'gimmick' like Kinect/Move/Wii etc.
@MadAussieBloke Oh, boy - I so can't wait for Resident Evil 7 in VR. I hope it's as good as I'm imagining.
I'll definitely be getting Sony's VR Headset at some point in 2017, i also think VR is going to be a lot bigger than some people think.
I can't wait for VR, even more so after last night's show. Batman VR, how can you not be excited for that, having played the Resident Evil 7 demo it looks like that could be terrifying in VR. Add to these Grant Turismo, London heist looks good and I'm curious about that underwater thing in the cage just as an experience. Oh yes and the little matter of flying an X-Wing
@banacheck Even if it doesn't turn out to be a hit on PlayStation, the technology's not going anywhere. It's legitimately cool.
It'll be used in schools and museums and much, much more I suspect. I mean, when we studied history at school, all we got were illustrations and stuff. Imagine being able to actually go back in time!
It'll be nice when VR just fades back into obscurity like before, it will happen again. Then we can go back to focusing on non-gimmick games. VR is going to be a niche product, by 2018 the wind will definitely be out of the VR sails.
In all honesty I'm kinda warming to the PSVR, Batman, Resi, London Heist all looks really cool game.
I hope Sony will do a road show across the UK to promote this.
PushSquare editors, writers, & reviewers, I expect a list of the PSVR games to own, rent, and to avoid of these 50 games. Thanks.
I'm too old for this. I like the idea but don't fancy that thing stuck on my head and I wear glasses. I will wait until I'm reincarnated.
@StaffyDog : LOL ! good one . at least you won't need a "vom-bucket" to hand when playing !
V R = Vomit Regurgitation .
@eliotgballade The motion sickness thing is not only individual experience, its also different per device. For example, I play my GearVR for hours, not a single drop of motion sickness. I load up Google Cardboard, and within seconds I am starting to feel sick.
Not only that but back when 3d games were first a thing (3d as in Doom, Wolfenstein, and beyond, not as in 3d glasses) it made a lot of people sick to look at a 3d world. You change your perspective, and expectation of how things "normally work" and your body has to adapt. Kids today have grown up with 3d being a standard normal thing, and so their body/brain adapted at a very early age. Some people never adapt. My wife cannot watch a 3d game for more than a couple minutes without getting motion sickness. Down with 3d games! They are just vomit generators! Right?! Who is with me!? (last results I saw said its estimated that 10-50% of people get motion sickness while playing 3d games)
The same thing happened (though to a lesser degree) with 3d games on a phone/tablet. The motion sickness of the early days of 3d games reared its ugly head again.
All this is to say, motion sickness in gaming is nothing new, there are huge numbers of people that get sick playing the games that you probably power through just fine. VR does not change that. Most of us will adapt, the rest will not be able to enjoy VR. Its unfortunate, but nothing new.
I will wait and see and maybe get VR in 2017 if it's a success, if it does well then i'll get VR but I doubt it will be PSVR.
I'm 100% on board with VR, just not sure my wallet is. Haha. I'd definitely love to have it as the announcements of Until Dawn: Rush of Blood and Arkham VR have my crazy hyped. Resident Evil VII will probably be great as well.
Pre-ordered months ago. Feel vindicated that I did now π
