May was a cracking month for PlayStation, with several heavy hitting titles bursting onto Sony's latest system. Despite the strength of our Game of the Month nominees, though, there was a clear winner when it came to the crunch. And no, you don't get any prizes for guessing which release came out on top.
Bronze Trophy: Valkyria Chronicles Remastered
A fine remake of the beloved PS3 war-'em-up, Valkyria Chronicles Remastered is still a joy to play, and looks better than ever on PS4. We gave it a great score of 8/10 in our review, praising the name of Welkin Gunther and dubbing the release "a thoroughly enjoyable strategy game". Remasters are a regular occurrence these days, but we're just glad that Squad 7 got another chance at the glory that it deserves.
Silver Trophy: DOOM
DOOM has exploded back onto the gaming scene with a shooter that revels in gory kills, punchy weapons, and unapologetically aggressive gameplay. Reviewer Joey Thurmond called it "the power trip of a lifetime" in our 9/10 review, highlighting its fantastic shooting mechanics and thoughtful level design. As far as we're aware, Joey's still busy raging his way through the demonic hordes even as we sit and type this. Someone should probably check he's okay.
Gold Trophy: Overwatch
Blizzard sure knows how to make 'em, eh? Its latest creation, Overwatch, took the web by storm last week in a flood of hype, memes, and pornography – and if that doesn't mean that your game's a success, we don't know what does. Reviewer Alex Stinton awarded the super polished shooter a 9/10, lauding its accessibility and charm. "With Overwatch, the studio has delivered once again," he concluded.
Platinum Trophy: Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
Wow, who saw that one coming?! Naughty Dog's latest – and arguably greatest – is without doubt one of the best games on the PS4. An absolute juggernaut of a release, Nathan Drake's biggest adventure yet tells a slightly more mature tale than its predecessors, but it's ultimately stronger for it.
Head honcho Sammy Barker brought out the hallowed 10/10 stamp for our review, placing Uncharted 4 up there with the very best games that we've ever reviewed. "A fitting end for one of PlayStation's most famous franchises, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End sits alongside The Last of Us at the apex of cinematic action experiences," he wrote. A worthy Game of the Month winner, we'd say.

For me, May was the best month this year if not the best of all time for PS4.
From those 4 games I have them all and I can't really choose which one I liked best.
The story of Uncharted was great, characters we loved for so many years...
Doom was pure fun, adrenaline on maximum and blasting demons, what more to ask from an FPS campaign?
Overwatch may have the less content but what it does is giving you hours and hours of fun, from all the titles we mentioned I spend more hours with this one!
Valkyrie is a great game and I love it, but I have not spend much time with it yet.
@Melucine Yeah, it was an incredibly strong month.
I got Doom and U4 and loved them both. Still have my doubts on Overwatch as it is an FPS, I would rather play a TPS and watching some videos didnt look that fun. PS Store doesnt even have a video for it unlike Battleborn.
I voted for Uncharted, great game.
Overwatch a very close second, but is my #1 when it comes to MP games.
Still want to get Valkyria Chronicles, but the current sale in the PSN store doesn't help....
Easily the best month for PS4, Uncharted 4 is stunning and Doom is a fantastic update of a classic game and the best fps on the system
Uncharted 4 for me. I still plan on getting Doom after a price drop.
I didn't play the original on PS3 and now I'm enjoing Valkyria at its best. God bless remastered games at budget price!
Can't vote as sadly don't own any of them but would like them all , wife's just had our first baby on Wednesday so should be getting all these in the bargain bin in 2018 ! Managed to sneak in a little Zen Pinball Force Awakens table this morning !
I'll make sure he's a gamer , as need excuse to get PS5 , PS6 etc ....
Doom all the way - probably the best game this year in my opinion
@MinerWilly Congrats on the new arrival!
@get2sammyb thanks Sammy.
Went with Uncharted 4 but DOOM is a very close second.
Loved U4 but I am now having much more fun with R&C!
