Sony has confirmed that the new PlayStation 4K – which it's revealed is in development – will retail at a "more expensive" price than the original console. The devices will be sold in tandem, so you can expect it to adopt a basic and premium price model. Currently, the PS4 sells for around $349.99.
While the platform holder's not confirming anything at this stage, we expect that the existing unit will drop to $299.99 ahead of the launch of the PS4K, allowing the high-end model to take the console's original $399.99 price sticker. That certainly makes sense to us, but how much would you pay?

Well a normal 500GB PS4 here in the UK seems to be around £300, and £350 for the TB version, I can see the price being around £350-£400 depending on what the actual features the PS4K will have.
My only concern with the ps4k is it's rumored to share the same hd the current ps4 has. I'm going to assume that means the 1tb versions because especially now launching a 500gb hd in the ps4k would be a travesty.
The 'early' rumour was that Sony was hoping to release at a similar price point to the original launch price of the PS4 so I was expecting a £350-£400 price point. Anything above that and I will have to see what the PS4k can do. That price though was based on a 500GB HDD (a bit small so 'could' increase its size) and a Jaguar CPU clocked faster (2.1GHZ) which I would be very surprised if they stick with (the Puma (newer version of Jaguar - better clock speeds and energy consumption or new Zen which makes much more sense). The Bluray drive could also be a factor in the final price - do they go with the same, one that upgrades to 4k or even a 4k UHD Bluray drive. Its obviously going to require HDMi 2.0a for 4K UHD video streaming and hopefully move the USB 3.0's to the back - maybe add at least 1-2 more. Of course all these add up in costs.
Wr know that the 8GB version of the Polaris has an RRP of $230 so no doubt Sony buying directly from AMD will pay a lot less and get their CPU's from them too in bulk. They have their own Bluray manufacturing and probably have ties to a lot of eastern manufacturers of the parts (Ports, HDD's, cables etc) so its possible they could hit that price point.
With 40m+ PS4 owners, some of whom will no doubt upgrade, its got a very good chance of success...
In other news the sky is blue and grass is green, .
Seriously though I would expect as much.
@BigDaddyT0101 It does seem odd that it will have the same size HDD. Sony and MS were criticised for putting in such small capacity HDD's in and if the rumours are true, the Xbox 'Slim' will have a 2TB HDD.
Game sizes shouldn't increase though. I know you would think that with 'extra' resolution, you will have bigger games but that information is already on disc. If you compare file sizes with PC versions, they are virtually identical - the PC versions can run at 4k with all the effects turn up to max. Consoles have exactly the same graphical content on disc but the settings are turned down (output to 1080p, Shadows - low, Lighting - medium etc). Its why a 'simple' patch could change these settings for the 'Neo' version - you wouldn't have to patch in the extra resolution etc...
"how much would you pay?"
Hard to know seeing as we don't know what we're paying for yet but I'd probably pay the current price of the existing model for the Neo. That would assume a price drop for the old model though...
The upgraded console better have a 2TB hard drive. I'll probably still get one, but it'd be killer if it was included with all the other upgrades.
It really need support for 3.5" HDD up to 6Tb they could slap a 1Tb in it to keep cost down allowing the user to upgrade to one much larger! That would trump even 4K as a most wanted feature. My price point has a direct connection to GPU power. I wouldn't mind paying $499 but only if the spec's showed good value for the cost. That's for my 1080p Plasma TV not 4K.
I just hope the PS4K won't cost more than $400 by the time it's released...
