Hype! The gravity queen will return on 30th November in Europe and 2nd December in North America, platform holder Sony has announced – with Gravity Rush 2 tumbling to the PlayStation 4 just in time to meet its 2016 release window. The date was announced on the PlayStation Blog this morning in conjunction with a Japanese event.
Pre-orders for the game – which open soon – will be acknowledged with a white costume for protagonist Kat, as well as a Director's Choice soundtrack featuring nine songs from the uber-stylish game. Pre-orders from the PlayStation Store will also secure a theme, and – in North America only it seems – ten PSN avatars.
But that's not all: prior to the release of the game, Sony will debut an anime called Gravity Rush The Animation ~ Overture ~, which will bridge the gap between the original title and its sequel. And that may well detail the origins of a new character named Angel, who's set to appear in the new game. "Angel is a superheroine with an aggressive and wild fighting style," associate product marketing manager Brian Dunn wrote on the PlayStation Blog.
There's a new – and fantastic – trailer embedded below, so give that a watch if you want to increase your already no doubt sizeable hype. We absolutely cannot wait for this one.

YAY!
There are many, MANY games that I have an exceptional amount of hype for this year, but this is definitely near the top of my list. As long as they improve the combat, this could be one of my favorite games of all time. I can't wait to Platinum it.
great news - though makes the no-show at E3 even more bizarre in my opinion...
Yes! Loved playing through the remaster. Gravity Rush is lovely, and the sequel looks to improve it in every way
On a blog? Really Sony?
Don't look surprised when this titles sales are not what you expected.
This game deserves better. A LOT better.
It's great to be back to the world of Gravity Rush, Kat and destroying some nevi.
Awesome I am completely and utterly pumped for this game! So glad it's releasing this year!
@BlaBlaBla They had a concert in Japan. Where else are they supposed to announce the date?
@BlaBlaBla
Not to disagree with you in regards to Sony's marketing, but in this instance: how else are they suppose to announce it?
Edit: Also, this game is the very definition of niche, even if Sony were to apply Uncharted-level marketing or somewhere near that, This game ain't going to sell gangbusters.
this would probably have to wait until I'm done with Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8. Final Chapter Prologue
That said, I did almost forget this title's existence up until now. Lets just hope the horrid controls from the first game are dead and buried.
Just started the original on Vita this week just gone. I am not normally an anime style fan but I do like the world and the original gameplay. I am still naff at controlling Kat. Will defo think about this though. I hope it does well!
Definite day 1.
@Punished_Boss_84 Did you try the PS4 version? Controls like a dream.
@get2sammyb
Really? I've been eyeing up the remaster on Amazon, but I've just got a backlog sitting there.
@Punished_Boss_84 Yeah, it's really nice on the DualShock 4 - solves a lot of the quirks that were annoying on the Vita version, like the touch-screen sliding.
@get2sammyb
That is precisely why I couldn't play anymore, I'm glad to hear that's gone.
Finally a release date, I hope they make a special edition with steelbook and artbook.
Getting close to the end of remastered now and I'm a big fan I'll be picking this up for sure.
Sweet. Looks gorgeous!
I'll be getting this, and I'll remote play on my Vita, because Sony refuses to.
@Punished_Boss_84 I agree with Sammy on this, on the Vita everything felt a bit too fiddly and awkward. But on PS4 it was miles better, while not perfect it was much more fun to use in combat, even the motion controls handled like a dream. Though been at 60fps helps.
Great news. Is the theme only for digital preorders, though? If it is, I hope they at least sell it separately.
Let's be honest the first game is flawed, yet amazing, so I'm really pumped for this sequel!
Woah for real?
I was expecting 2017. We never get JP games when they do. Usually.
So when are they going to announce Gravity rush 2 PSVR ??
Really happy it's finally got a release date. This is gonna be such a good holiday season.
Wow was totally expecting a feb/march 2017 release, so it's a really nice surprise.
