We're starting to feel bad about asking you lot to give these Japanese charts articles a click - there's just nothing particularly interesting happening in the Land of the Rising Sun when it comes to Sony's systems, and it's probably going to stay that way until the PlayStation 4 gets a few new blockbusters.
The only title worth a mention this week is the latest Ys game on Vita, which entered in second place selling a decent 43,753 copies. This didn't, however, have much of an impact on the handheld's sales, which stayed steady at around 11,400 units. Likewise, the PS4 wasn't able to jump back to the top of the hardware charts, but the current-gen machine still refuses to fall below the 20,000 mark.

There were numerous new Vita titles in the charts last week, or was that not noteworthy enough?
@BLPs Not unless you consider 10,000 sales or less noteworthy, which we don't!
@ShogunRok So I was right, you wont brag about how much youre winning this generation unless its by a larger margin I kid of course.
But hey, its a Vita game. Keep singing those praises, maybe Sony can kick Microsoft out of consoles by sheer numbers and then wrestle back handhelds, since Nintendo is pretty much abandoning ship, bloody finally.
Summer is handheld time, and Japanese publishers seem to have noticed that too. PS4 still selling respectable numbers on the strength of its back library, but new releases will pick up in the autumn.
@BLPs
Sony is strong in home consoles just like Nintendo is strong in handhelds. Sony's impact on Nintendo's handheld market is about the same as Nintendo's impact on Sony's console market.
But who said Nintendo is abandoning handhelds? They'll never do that. That's their home turf and their biggest money maker. If anything they should back away from home consoles, but if the NX rumors prove true, they'll be consolidating into a hybrid (which IMO, is definitely the way to go).
@JaxonH Thing is, Nintendo probably will, and only because I find it easier and better for my mental state to just not argue that I'm allowed to like something.
It's like me saying I like Sonic. Cool, I do, I admit that. My house mates know that and never stop reminding Sonic Boom happened. Sure, I can just ignore the comments and I do, but its not what they say, its the frequency, and let me tell 3 or 4 times per minute isn't fun.
Same with Nintendo. They hop on the "This is crap and weeby" train, among others, and rather than sit there and explain to them why I like it, only to be asked "But whats the point" i just stop saying I like it and go along with it. What would I rather do at this point? Continue being hopeful and watch my already slim mental health slide down a mountain because I cant be allowed to like something, or wish the worst case scenario happens so I can be pleasantly surprised when it doesn't.
Hope you understand that stance.
