It's safe to say that August's PlayStation Plus reveal didn't go down too well - we haven't seen such online rage regarding Sony's service in quite some time, but is next month's offering really that bad? We're going to let you answer that one.
In case you're out of the loop, August's selection includes Tetris-like block puzzler Tricky Towers and space trading sim Rebel Galaxy on PS4, while PS3 arguably gets the pick of the bunch in Yakuza 5. Sadly, the last-gen console is let down by Retro/Grade, which has actually been given away to subscribers before, and the Vita's stuck with another PSP game, namely Patapon 3. At least everyone's getting a go of retro styled shooter Ultratron, right?
So, what's the verdict? Is August really such a naff month for Plus, or is it better than people are making it out to be? Put down your pitchforks, vote in our polls, and feed us your feelings in the comments section below.

For me it is not a bad month, but giving a game second time is what makes it the worse.
First i renew plus to play no man's sky online (not needed) then it turns out the plus games are trash. Well, theres always next month.
I usually try the games out each month, then promptly delete them ... time poor so if a game is not top notch it gets binned.
The standard has been very poor all year.
Happy with the service but the PS+ game's are getting worse in my opinion, the introduction of a couple of (awful) AAA game's hasn't helped at all, in fact it's made it worse! It must to be harder though I suppose for Sony to give away really good AAA game's to it's 40mill user's but still just one would be a nice gesture, Sony made a big profit out of us and there's a recent article on this site to prove it and that is because of us after all.
It's hard to be disappointment when this happens nearly every month, yet here I am.. still with my silly expectations for games I'd actually play.
When Tricky Towers has more votes than Yakuza 5
Still can't see how people say it's a bad month with Yakuza 5. I guess there is no pleasing people.
I'll play Rebel Galaxy. It should fill the gap until No Man's Sky.
I've never played any of the Yakuza games, so this will be the perfect opportunity to try one out.
I get to play online so its always a winner being with PS Plus. Apart from that fact the games are decent Yakkuza 5 is one I have been after for a while and would have bought it anyway. Rebel Galaxy I wanted but never got round to buying because of a baclog of unplayed games. Its a decent month. I am as happy as Larry.
@ShogunRok maybe becuase we already got Yakuza 5 last month, I know it was a mistake then, but still we got it.
I voted for tricky towers becuase I like puzzle games and don't play at my PS3 anymore.
@Melucine u might have got it, but I'm pretty sure only a small percentage of members claimed it in time. I certainly didn't. And even if you did get it, it was in addition to the 6 other titles so it's not like you're being disadvantaged this month. It's more like you were 1 up and now you're even.
@Melucine I also don't think NA had that mistake last month. I could be wrong though by the time I found out about it they would have fixed it.
@hi_drnick @Tasuki
I am not saying that it is a bad game, on the other hand it is a great one! But giving it, even by mistake, maybe made people less excited for it and thats the reason they did not vote it.
As for the mistake I strongly believe, that if it didn't happened they would not have given the game for August.
I've been thinking how Sony can change Plus, as far as Vita and PS3 go I won't change at all for reasons I'll come to later. As for PS4 I'd introduce a new 3 tier system, Silver, Gold and Platinum. Silver would be priced at £3.99 a month (Pricing is just off the top of my head) and includes online MP and Plus discounts. Gold is £5.99 a month and has all the silver perks as well as the IGC (basically what we have now) and Platinum is £8.99 a month and includes every previous perk as well as additional discounts and full access to PS Now. Gold and Platinum are the only tiers you can buy yearly subscriptions. The one major problem with this is that Platinum wouldn't be available in many regions due to no PS Now service.
As for PS3 and Vita, the problem is if you take away the service on those systems, what happens to all the Plus games people like me have accumulated over the years? Somehow I don't think the publishers and developers will be too happy that their games would be freely available to any previous plus members. After all it's why Sony and Microsoft stipulate that you can keep your games as long as you remain a member.
How can people say this is bad? Rebel Galaxy and Yakuza 5 are great games. Yakuza is AMAZING and provides months of gameplay. Fair enough if they aren't your thing but this isn't objectively worse than any month we've had. I bought Rebel Galaxy less than a month ago and I'm still pretty impressed by this month.
@Tasuki It's great for PS3 gamers, but does nothing for PS4/Vita gamers. I suspect most readers here fall into the second category. The last PS3 game review seems to be from 2015 (oddly enough, it was Yakuza 5).
I really think that Sony need to swallow their pride and allow EA to bring EA Access to the PS4. It is absolutely brilliant and as many of the games have a strong online presence (Fifa, Battlefied) people would still need to keep a PS+ subscription.
After having a look at each game since my first comment when they were announced I have to admit they don't look as bad as what I first thought.Obviously Yakuza 5 is a great game to give away despite not spending much time on the last one.Retro/Grade doesant look too bad although I can see why people are pissed if it was already given away.I really enjoyed Titan Attacks so should enjoy Ultraton.Not bothered about the others.So an ok month I suppose...Still would be nice to announce some really decent games for once but whatever Sony do people will still moan.
Terrible month for Vita/PS4. Obviously Yakuza 5 for PS3 is amazing, but a lot of us don't own Sony's last gen system, and I would expect better support for their current gen machines.
@Tasuki I already sold my ps3 because I rarely played it after I bought ps4, great month for ps3 but terrible one for ps4.
Can we have a poll for which system(s) readers here use? I wanna see this poll put into context, plus I'm just nosy!
Yakuza 5 on PS3 is the best...but I don't have a PS3. C'mon Sony it's time to ditch PS3 from plus line up.
I got rid of my PS3 as soon as Altlus announced Persona 5 for PS4. Bad month for Vita/PS4, and a good month for PS3. Although I already had Yakiza 5 for PS3, so it's a bad month for me anyway. Maybe next month.
For everyone who says that this month is terrible for PS4, is Rebel Galaxy really that bad? It looks good to me, and I am excited to play it. I also still have my PS3, so this is actually an above average month to me
I think Ultratron is a very fun twin stick shooter on PS4. I like the upgrade ability and the style of the game, it works great. On PS3 however, it's very unstable.
@Tasuki Because people don't own a ps3?
It's ok if you have a PS3 for Yakooza otherwise pretty uninspiring if you ask me...
Tricky Towers looks fun enough and brings attention back to the puzzle game, so I'll download that. Other than that, none are for me. Yakuza 5 is good but I can't be bothered to re-plug my PS3 in to play it.
I would give Yazuka a chance, but I just have barely turned on my ps3 since Rock Band 4 came out. The two games that kept me going back to the ps3 were Rock Band 3 and Buzz, but RB4 and Jackbox have filled that need.
So I chose Yazuka, but in reality I probably won't turn on the ps3 to play it.
@BowTiesAreCool Excellent suggestion,I'm pretty interested myself!
I was out of the loop. The PS4 offerings do suck, but Yakuza 5 makes up for it.
@Bananaman678 This comment makes no sense;
Buy psplus for space trading game to play online - fair point and a good reason to purchase psplus.
Hate psplus for free space trading game (Rogue Galaxy) - Uh what? Why would you not want to play Rogue Galaxy if you are looking forward to NMS?
Im happy, to be fair the psplus games I have been looking forward to the most (Furi and Galax-z) have been alright and my personal favourite psplus games have been surprise games I would never have purchased (Sound shapes, First Light, Never Alone, Guacamelee) So I am happy with the service. Just like football away days the more obscure the better!
Month sucks for me.... Yakuza 5 is one of the greatest games of all times and I'm excited about more people playing it but don't care in the slightest about any of those other games
@themcnoisy those two games are very different. Having just investigated further into Rebel Galaxy I don't see the same appeal. I stand by my opinion that for the most part ps plus games just aren't very good (in my eyes). I have maybe downloaded 5 since i began my subcription (across vita and ps4) this january.
Second survey should have a none option.
I will be looking forward to next month.
@adf86 im sure on xbox even if gold runs out you can keep on using them
When the free games started, we were given some absolutely fantastic games, but that's definitely started to noticably dwindle over the past few months. There was a point when games such as Thief and Infamous Last Light were given away. If they really are struggling to find decent games to give away, maybe they could include one of the latest movie releases or a DLC voucher code instead.
@Tasuki Most likely because there may have been many (including myself) who've already bought Yakuza 5 since it's been out for some time...so it being on PS+ is a letdown, especially when it's the only one on the list that seems worth the time.
@Tasuki i guess you just cant see past the fact that not everybody owns a ps3
I think Ps Plus games are bad so IF Sony is listening to the community they should do something about this I mean look How much dislikes the video have got on YouTube it past 22K and its still going up
@SKC_Diamond Yeah on 360 and most of the games on the service were fairly old that they were hardly worth been free.
@aj423 Yeah so has Call of Duty's last trailer, YouTube dislikes are no indication of anything. Chances are a lot of them are just Xbox fanboys just jumping on the supposed negativity.
