Rockstar's made some unexpected games over the years, with The Warriors being one of them. Based upon the 1979 movie of the same name β which itself was inspired by a 1965 novel β the game's essentially a beat-'em-up, which originally released all the way back in 2005 on the PlayStation 2. And now, via Sony's emulation initiative, it's coming to the PlayStation 4.
The game's out now on the European PlayStation Store, with a release in North America expected later today. It's got 13 Trophies, though sadly there's no Platinum for this release. As is the case with all PS2 Classics on Sony's new-gen system, you can expect upscaled 1080p presentation, as well as full compatibility with PS4 features like livestreaming and share.

Brilliant! I'd never seen this film until the weekend but finally sat down to watch it on Netflix - loved it. Was disappointed this game hadn't made it over to PS4, will be getting it for sure.
one of the best games I ever play
easily top 10 psp and ps2 game of all times.a masterpiece.I love this game.and the movie is in my top ten favorite movies of all times.warriors come out and playyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Does it play kinda like Dynamite Cop! or Zombie Revenge?
Or is more like the DMC style of 3D beat em up........?
Amazing! One of my all time top 10 films, and the game is awesome as well!!
Looking forward to this, how much?
@Kyroki Sadly, they're one of the few publishers supporting it. A shame because Rockstar recently said they're making serious bank on these ports - not sure why other publishers aren't following.
@sub12 Not really like Dynamite Cop - it's more 3D Streets of Rage:

@get2sammyb I loved Streets of Rage but never played this, so it sounds like I'll have to play this now π
@Kyroki
I think it has more to do with the limited resources of Sony, since they seem to be the ones doing the actual emulation. They didn't crank out the PS1 classics either. Seem to be focusing on self-published titles and Rockstar, once they finish up with that, they will probably continue with the Capcom's and Konami's of the world.
Loved this game!
Wouldn't mind the Jak collection on PS4 or NFS Underground 1 & 2.
Awesome! I never did play this. Has it got any of the music in it from the film?
No platinum why! The gym button spamming should be a platinum trophy never mind 100% game. Great game though hopefully/somehow timesplitters triology will come over. It would sell easily
@Kyroki Never thought I'd see the day where people would pay for the same game twice. the same game.
@kyleforrester87 best beat-em up to date - captures the movie perfectly
Get a friend to watch your back while your stealing those valuable cassette decks.
Who are the Warriors? I want all the Warriors (ports).
Quotes aside, I never played this first time round and I am tempted to give this a go.
Warriors... come out to play...
@Mickael486 twice? I never bought it, and now is my chance. This PS2 games comes with trophy support, 1080p resolution, remote play, share play, and streaming capabilities. Trophy/platinum support is an incentive for many people who likes to earn trophies with this PS2 games.
This remasters/emulations/ports are aimed to be played by people like me who never got the chance to play them before, is not aimed for people who already did it unless they feel like doing it again. I mean is their money and they can do whatever they want with it, and if they have fun playing it again then it was money well spent.
Nice, I always wanted to play this game.
@ApostateMage All right now, for all you boppers out there in the big city, all you street people with an ear for the action, I've been asked to relay a request from the Grammercy Riffs. It's a special for the Warriors, that real live bunch from Coney, and I do mean the Warriors. Here's a hit with them in mind."no where to run to baby, nowhere to hide do da do do."
Great film, in fact a must watch for everyone. Will I pick this up? CAN YOU DIG IT?
Anyone know if the ps2 ports have their field of view increased from 4:3 to 16:9?

@themcnoisy Ace!
I hope The Orphans are in it, I know they're not on the network but I wanna waste them when they rumble anyway.
Wow I had the PSP version ages ago!
@gingerfrog I own parappa the rapper 2 and man that ps2 game looks fuzzy and ropey on my display. There's also weird lag, loads noticeable as its rhythm action. I dont think it upscales.
Gonna be picking this up at some point until Batman Arkham Asylum it was the best licensed game there was imo
Id love to see Capcom put the Onimusha games on ps2 to ps4
