To be brutally honest with you, we're not sure when Sony's going to announce September 2016's batch of free PlayStation Plus games – it could be this week or next. With the news that the service's price will be increasing from 22nd September in North America, though, the lineup's going to be under even more scrutiny than ever before.
Last month, the PlayStation 4 netted Tricky Towers and Rebel Galaxy – two decent games that weren't particularly well received. The only new game currently scheduled for 6th September is The Tomorrow Children, but given that Q-Games' curious crafting sim is set to go free-to-play eventually, it doesn't necessarily seem like the best fit.
The platform holder will probably dive into its archives, then – could it be finally time for something like Knack or Killzone: Shadow Fall? As always, we'd love to know what you want – and we'd also love to hear what will convince you to keep your sub after the price increase. Try to be reasonable in the comments section below.

I don't have a PS4 yet--probably will once the Slim is announced and released--but nothing will really convince me to not have a Plus subscription. I like the idea of more games to play, and isn't it required for online? Either way I'm looking forward to finally jumping into it!
I honestly don't care about plus anymore. I'll pay for it, add the free games and sometimes I play online. Recently I'm playing through my huge backlog and I already own all the games I really want so the only reason for me to play the plus games is to discover something new or play something I wouldn't have bought otherwise.
no mans sky
@Kidfried Finally seeing a release date for The Last Guardian forced my hand. I was in literal happy tears when I saw the date. To start, I want (need!) The BioShock collection. I'd also love to get Doom, Fallout 4 and No Man's Sky. For all the disappointment I'm hearing about the game, I still have hope that I'll enjoy it. Add in the incoming Resident Evil 7 and the new God of War, among other amazing-looking games and I have no reason to not get one!
And, I may double dip on Shovel Knight because even though I already own it on Wii U, Shovel Knight rules!
I don't think Knack would go over well as a condolence for a rate increase. Infamous 2nd Son maybe, I think I've seen that on sale for $15 or $20 new, so it wouldn't be a huge $60 title, but it would look better than Knack.
Sony didn't try to do anything nuts like increase the rate on current members did they? B/c really nobody on here will be paying $60 until Sept 2017 as we'll all just buy $50 cards Sept 21. And maybe somebody like Newegg will jump in with a Labor Day sale before then. We love our sales in the US, Labor Day weekend usually sees some heavily promoted ones, it's practically the start of the holiday shopping season.
I'll admire the balls of Sony if they dare having an all indie lineup after announcing the increase
I think isaid this on YouTube on last month's video, but Unravel would be a good choice.
The 'free' games have been a source of disappointment for me. I would definitely drop PS+ if it wasn't required for a lot of the games I play and looking forward to playing in the near future. I quite happily enjoyed my PS3 time without PS+ and that often had games I would have enjoyed but the truth is, I get more out of online play and therefore that is my primary reason for both PS+ and Gold subscriptions. In terms of 'value', I feel I get better value from Gold (especially as I can usually find it cheaper too) though because virtually every month there is at least 1 (out of 4) that I can download and enjoy on XB1 as opposed to 1 every year (at most) on PS4 - yes I know Sony offer 6 games but I don't own a Vita and can't remember the last time I turned my PS3 on and unlikely to for any of the 'free' games offered in the time I have had PS+
The free games are unlikely to cause me to cancel PS+ - regardless as I need it for online gaming. I don't want to give up 1000's of hours on Destiny or buy games like CoD, TF2, BF1 etc just for offline gaming. Whilst the 'free' games often leave me disappointed, its not that big of an issue as the ability to play all my games and content is more important to me.
That being said, it would be nice to get some 'bigger/AAA' games that have more universal appeal than basketball. I own Killzone but even that would be a welcome game. Experience of seeing these 'older' MP games offered on Xbox (like Gears of War) has reinvigorated these - there are actual people online playing them so easy to find matches, more friends have it so its another option to play online with them - no more 'don't have that' and trying to find something we all have.
I would be happy with games like Watchdogs, Tomb Raider (definitive) or some of the other AAA games that were released back then - I picked these two as they are both due their follow ups to be released soon. Anything is better than yet another 'indie' that's similar to half a dozen other indies already offered...
@TreesenHauser I'm looking forward to Mafia 3. 2 was my fav game last gen on xbox 360. You love it!
Something like the Witness, the Talos Principle, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture or Layers of Fear would be pretty damn good in my book, really enjoying those kinds of games at the moment. In terms of 'AAA' or retail games, I dunno...Diablo 3 would be pretty awesome. Anything, really! As long as there's variation and quality between the titles I don't really mind.
Any game that score minimal 70 in the metacritic, please no more bad games. Although I bought ps plus mainly for discount, cloud save and online now. The free games is just bonus, compared to ps3 era where the free game is the reason to buy ps plus.
Man I still remember my first free ps plus game, uncharted 3, ps plus is really great back then.
Something that keeps me playing for more than 20 minutes! I enjoy all free games, but lately I just can't be bothered to spend too much time with them! If they are really really interesting then I'm happy to play until the end
Something decent to play.
Would like Sniper Elite 3, always wanted to try one of those games.
@BAMozzy I came across some of your old posts yesterday where you took a lot of time explaining tech stuff to me, NX related over on NL, so thanks again for that.
Mass Effect Trilogy...we know it exists somewhere
@PlaytendoGuy Yeah, I'd be happy with Sniper Elite 3.
In terms of indies I'd like:
Shadow Complex Remastered
Steamworld Heist
Titan Souls
Hopefully nothing too amazing. I know it's great to get awesome free games, but my backlog is seriously out of hand and I really need to make a start on Dark Souls.
@SegaBlueSky basically any of those. Diablo 3 would be amazing.
Anything 1st party I've picked up by now.
If Sony gold turds and gave it to gamers they would still be unhappy with PS Plus. I would like Broken Sword apart from that I do not need anything Sony has been great recently with its games so whatever they give away should be fine. I am glad they still support PS3 and Vita and hopefully will for atleast a few more years.

Well I just ponied up for the Hitman Intro Pack, so that's a solid bet, especially since episodics tend to make their first episode free towards the end of their runs.
Wish List: Grow Up!, Inside, Abzu, Salts & Sanctuary, Enter the Gungeon, Indigo Prophecy
Dark horse pick: THE DIVISION (bolster their community, bring back into spotlight)
@TreesenHauser hey u can download ps4 games so when u buy one u can redownload it later when u have the ps4 so u won't miss the free ps4 games
That how I did it
Sony clearly value putting a game on Plus at launch, see Resogun, Rocket League, Velocity 2X etc. And the only game that's listed to be released on September 2nd according to MCV is Lucius. For those that don't know it's basically Hitman meets The Omen.
There seems to be a lot of negativity about the price increase, I for one am hoping it is simply to increase the funding they provide to developers to give us the free games and therefore increasing the caliber of them. If the business model isn't working and a ten quid increase over here means I now get infamous, knack etc on my monthly list....SIGN ME UP
Didn't they recently increase the price for us already? I was paying £11.99 every three month since I first signed up and last month there I was billed £14.99..
No point anymore these games are not free suspend you account to see.
Sony have shown they can and will increase the price.
i'm done with plus and all its childish games. P.C. online me thinks tis a shame I liked my P.S.4 .
@rjejr No probs. If I can help in anyway - I will.
Awesomenauts Assemble would be a really good one to have for free. That way we could get the player base back up and have better, more even match ups
I would love to see Unravel or Everybody's Gone to the Rapture.
No Man Sky 😒
@Fight_Teza_Fight I'd definitely be up for D3 - I keep missing it on sale; the last time, I went to buy it a day late.
Wouldn't mind a digital version of FFXIII or XIII-2 for PS3, but I think that's unlikely, especially since the former has been removed from PS Now. Ni No Kuni WotWW would be decent, though I have it anyway.
For PS4, I really don't know. I tend to buy most AAAs at launch, so it's of no value to me to get them two months later for nowt. The Order would be nice (for me), and maybe if they're feeling really generous, F1 2016 since I'm not paying 55 quid digital.
Uncharted 4, Rise of Iron early access
@ShogunRok I was annoyed UC4 made the summer sale, as a pre-orderer. I'd be fuming if it appeared this month.
Uncharted Collection (or The Order if UCC is too new), Knack and Disgaea 5 would be a strong selection that could please most people. I have 2 of those already so I'm not saying that because those are the 3 I'd most want.
I mean, is it THAT much cheaper to put out 3 indie games than to put out 3 older but still "proper" games in a range of genres like Tales of Zestiria, an Assassin's Creed (Unity or Black Flag) and Dragonball Xenoverse, as another example?
I also think they should just scrap the games and have a cheaper PS+ just for online play
Im a little disappointed that theres going to be a price increase for ps plus, if you improve the quality of the monthly games ill be happier. But as far as games go, id like to see wolfenstein the old blood and deadpool.
@Bhattiboy You Americans get everything cheap it's nice to see this is getting corrected.
@Matroska Mate why so cheap knack was like 5,99 and you still did not get it lol...... Or sad im not sure.
@daveofduncan That is Europe for a little longer. This is about the USA.
@Flaming_Kaiser I didn't notice. I don't really keep track of the sales on PS4 because they're usually still more expensive than Amazon or other places where you get an actual physical copy.
That said, all the more reason for it to be on PS+. They've practically given it away before yet it's more impressive than Quirky Indie Platformer 545665.
I'd like The Witness please Sony! lol
@Flaming_Kaiser I can read I was theorising!
Knack
Pokemon blue
I wouldn't download Knack if it was on there, honestly not at all bothered. If Hyper Light Drifter, Enter the Gungeon or Super Meat Boy appear on there I will download it in an instant.
PS4 - The Witness, Driveclub complete edition and / or Destiny base edition.
Vita - P4G
Sony should have 2 Tiers of Playstation Plus, with the price to suit what you require. 1 version for users who just want network play, with game save storage and another for users who want the free games, network play and game save storage. Peeps would be a lot happier if they had the choice.
I want something good but i will see a new video in my youtube subscriptions about the plus games and it will play that little tune then show a birds eye view space game called space alien blaster or something crap like that if I didn't have overwatch i would of cancelled
@chris730920 Yeah but then sony make less £££$$$$ and thats all they want
You should put blood borne and far cry 4
As September ps plus lineup
I really don't as long as it's something fun
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi why drop them? There are still people that love their ps3 and I love my vita, shows that their still showing some attention to other consoles and I commend them on that. They have shown in the past that they can do great games, and i have no doubt they'll get back to that and also keeping games for 3 shows that they're trying to be the best value for money in my pinion
@dryrain glad someone agrees, free games are a bonus esp if you find a hidden gem you enjoy, and the fact that they're still thinking of the the other consoles shows they're trying at least.
@TreesenHauser
you Should get your free trial the day before new games come out
.that way you get aug and sept games to keep you busy
4/5 games in one go not bad
@TheKillingToke97
only in us and CA
@Anguspuss no chance to new
@ShogunRok you wont have a early acces on psplus :S
Everybody's Gone to the Rapture
