It may be utterly overshadowed by the Hollywood blockbusters due out next month, but Dragon Quest Builders is looking block solid from where we're sitting. And if you're interested in the game yourself, then you may want to check out the title's demo, which is launching on the PlayStation 4 and Vita today.
"In this introductory chapter of the game, players can explore a large open island, restore a town, and battle hordes of monsters all while completing exciting quests," the press release gloats. We'll get it downloaded and stick up some gameplay later on, but if you can't wait that long, then have a peep at our first impressions above.

Nice to see demos of unreleased games pop up on the PS Store. Doesn't happen very often for PS4 titles.
I wish demos were more common like they used to be.
Nice, been waiting for this.
I get excited every time I see a new demo article, then remember I don't have a PS4 yet.
I think this might be the game my kid gets for Christmas. Unless we can find a PS4 Slim Skylanders bundle, then I'm getting the PS4 Slim, he's getting Skylanders.
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...
Too soon?
Fantastic that they have a demo for this, very surprised too.
I love anything Dragon Quest so this will be a day one buy for me
Has to be better than that Virginia demo..
been playing it on Vita and it loads of fun, i'll be trying the PS4 version later but i'm loving it so far
I got this on pre-order for £34 so looking forward to it. The only thing I wish they had done was make it multi-player games where you create really benefit from other gamers input. Something like a muli-player creative mode would have been great.
@dryrain Yeah, I was thinking about that too. It's one of the reasons why the LBP series was so fun.
Really happy this came out as a demo.
I can see this selling well it has the potential.
@dryrain depending on it success they could patch it up to include multi-player fingers crossed.
So it's minecraft but better looking and with a singleplayer storymode.

Needless to say, I'm excited for this 😀
@JaxonH Which would you recommend to someone who's never played a DQ game before? Which is the best one in your opinion? I only have a 3ds so it's limited to what games are available on that
@Hego
I haven't played the most of these games, only bought them out of excitement after getting into the series. All I can tell you is DQVII is a masterpiece and comes very recommended. However. Know that the beginning starts out a bit slow to get going. I sat down on a Saturday and said I'm gonna just play for a couple hours to get it rolling, and that's what I did. So give it a fair shake and I think you'll be surprised how good it is. A lot of ppl nowadays though don't have patience for JRPG's.
I also played some of DQV and loving that so far too. And the DQ Monsters games, those are like Pokémon only better.
So ya I'd say DQVII, or the upcoming DQVIII on 3DS if you want a game to make you fall in love with the series. Or DQM games if you love Pokemon.
@JaxonH Cheers for the advice! Ya DQ VII is the one I hear the most about so I'll give that a go at some point I think
Its out today? Is it only EU?
@FullbringIchigo Any slow downs or pop in with the vita version? I'm trying to decide if I want this to go as well as for couch play.
@Ryu_Niiyama i haven't notice any slowdown during my gameplay, it seems like it's quite smooth
although i have a launch model PSVita (Model Number 1000) so i'm not sure how it would run on newer models still that's the great thing about demos, they let you try it out first
more games should have demos, maybe we would get less buggy launch games then
