Much of Sony's press conference today, of course, centred on the new PlayStation 4 Pro console – but there was good news for existing owners of the system, too. Speaking during the PlayStation Meeting 2016 press conference, suit Andrew House announced that every single system will be updated to support high dynamic range (or HDR) with an upcoming patch.
Of course, you'll need a snazzy television to take advantage of the feature – and 4K Blu-ray won't be suddenly supported, sadly – but it's a nice little bonus for those who don't want to upgrade, or who are eyeing the Xbox One S with envy. It's also worth mentioning that new 4K apps for Netflix and YouTube will be released for the PS4, but it's unclear whether they'll be exclusive to the Pro or not.

OK, so which unit(s) will support 4K movies on Disc?
EDIT: apparently none...wow.
Awesome! I was planning on playing The Witcher, but I may hold off until that HDR update is installed.
Apparently some have missed that Andrew house said firmware update next week aka 4.00. If I had the money I absolutely would get a pro. 1TB HD alone worth the $100 difference IMO. Great job Sony for clarification on what exactly PS4 pro can do with the numerous interviews that followed there announcement. Now, just wait for all the complainers to start the hate.
@REIGNOFDEATH
Exactly, people moaning about new tech....
What kind of tv are we talking to take advantage of HDR?
@REIGNOFDEATH Welcome to the internet, wait to you read a Plus article, the hate is real on those.
I how this is being implemented. I thought this was something that required more GPU power, because there's been more GPU power all along and they saved it for this then.......
Oh look another reason not to buy PS4 Pro
