Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom is probably going to take hours upon hours to complete - we can guess that much by looking at PlayStation 3 predecessor Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, which was huge to begin with. In an interview with IGN Japan, translated by Kotaku, Level-5 founder Akihiro Hino says that the scale of the game has "gotten huge", and that most of the development team is currently working on it.
In fact, Hino makes it sound as though the sequel may be the largest project that the studio has ever undertaken, stating "I think the title that has impacted the most Level-5 staff is Ni no Kuni II".
We've heard next to nothing about the release since it was announced last year, although we wouldn't be at all surprised to see it appear at this month's Tokyo Game Show.

This and Persona 5 and the next things I'm actually excited for!
Loved the first game and that introduce me to the art of grinding to level up my charcter. They could have held off announcing it last year as to be honest I had forgotten about it. But this will definatly be a day one purchase when ever it comes out 2018?
Ni No Kuni was the best RPG on PS3 and close to being my favourite game on the console, it is one of the few if only modern JRPG which recreated those classic 8 and 16 bit gems for the modern erase without losing anything. Turn based battles - check, great cast of characters - check, WORLD MAP - check, flying vehicle to traverse world map - check, not to mention the fantastic animation and the wonderfully Welsh Drippy. Yeah I'm pretty excited for a sequel and just like @mrobinson91 Persona 5 too
I remember watching the announcement trailer to this.
Only thing I can think of is what if this took place in the world of Game of Thrones.
Ni No Kuni was amazing. I'm really looking forward to this. Day one!
Great. They've not showed us a lot, that's good. Big fan of the first one.
Glad to hear something about NNK II, I was getting a bit worried with the complete silence following the reveal last year.
Here's to hoping this does the previous game justice, I'm guessing a Q3 2018 release, we'll see.
Ya, no news means it's still far off.
Loved the first one and looking forward to it but yeah,I'd forgotten about this game until this article so I can't see it being released until end of next year, especially if it's as big as they are saying..
I loved Ni no Kuni, one of my favorite games ever! It has that early years pokemon feeling whilst being a better rpg altogether! Can't wait for this sequel, it's my most anticipated game!
The monster designs in Ni No Kuni are fantastic, i've still got the amazing collector's edition spell book with all their pics and bios in. Some of my faves were the Cutpurrse, Sea Naiad and the Shonky-Honker.
Cant wait. The first game is brilliant shame Ghibli arn't actively involved this time around, but confident this will turn out great. Day one and if there is a special edition, sold - the wizards edition was fantastic
Well let Bluepoint give us the remaster of the first one to fill in time.
no no kuni best rpg ever.best looking gAme ever
I couldn't get going with the first one! Will be interested in this, hopefully it can be enjoyed without having done the first
About time! Googling for news of it every week haha
I'm probably about halfway through the first game now, and I'm about ready to set it to easy to avoid any unecessary grinding. Beating all the little monsters is fine, doing all the side quests is fine, fighting the bosses is a bit too steep of a curve for me. I beat a few the first try, jellyfish barely be the skin of my teeth, but a few are hard. And almost every battle I'm running after gold glimpse just to gave them float away over my head when I get there, and that's infuriating.
Hopefully they'll balance this one a little better or I'll just play the entire game on easy.
My most anticipated PS4 exclusive as of right now. Can't wait to get more concrete news about it.
Loved the first one! Hoping to hear a Western release date soon.
Cannae wait for this, like everyone else - loved the first one.
Never owned a PS3, but I'll probably get this if I like the first one after I try it out on PS Now.
Never had a PS3, so please give me a remaster of the first episode!!!
