Bet you weren't expecting this: the PlayStation 4 Slim was finally announced at today's PlayStation Meeting presser. Right off the bat, Andrew House announced that this more energy-efficient, smaller system (which looks exactly as the many leaks claimed it would) will be available from 15th September this year, retailing for £259/$299/€299.
Frankly, that's not a bad price considering that this model looks far nicer than the standard PS4, and it should be a good entry point for anyone who hasn't bought a PS4 yet. Will you be picking up a PS4 Slim, or do you think it's not worth the price? Shed a few pounds in the comments below.

It's 2016, do companies still sell consoles not bundled with games? I keep seeing X1S w/ either Halo collection or Madden.
I'm probably going to wait until BF to pick up either Slim or Pro, it may depend on the savings and the bundled game. If I can get FFXV or Uncharted 4 or Wticher 3:Complete bundled at no additional cost that will probably be the console I buy.
It's a very good price if you haven't yet got a PS4, but I disagree that it looks nicer than the original PS4. I mean, it's not horrific, but the original is just so sleek and lovely, whereas this, whilst it is smaller, does look to me like a "cheap" version of the PS4, which is a shame
I'll (hopefully) be picking this up this holiday season. I'm just praying that it'll drop to $250 this Black Friday as there are so many PS4 games I need to catch up on!
I doubt the Slim will price-drop due to it's relative newness.
But the leftover original PS4 units might be on sale due to the new units.
I didn't see that coming
I was expecting a better price to be honest. I don't see myself getting a Pro in the foreseeable future and the Slim should be cheaper (it looks cheaper for starters). 😑
Anything about the overheating rumour?
I guess its time to purchase a ps4 then (probably the original model)
@Thegentleman I'll probably do the same. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but that thing looks so small, you probably can't replace the HDD.
Without being much real competition for the Xbox One S in terms of features, the PS4 slim had to come it at under $300. If Sony didn't want to go $250, which would've been a tremendous move, $275 could've sufficed. It feels like Sony missed two opportunities today but to be fair everything has to be on the market before final judgements can be made. This will be an interesting holiday season.
@wiggleronacid
Wouldn't be shocked if you see some great deals on the original model PS4 later this week.
@Gamer83 Yeah, I'll definitely check for sales on the original model within the coming weeks. The only thing that would stop me from buying one of those is my current lack of money!
I guess it's time for me to own a PS4 soon, since the original model will probably become OOP by Fall 2017.
