399 is cheap. I want it
It felt really meh to me. Was kind of expecting to see some new games take advantage of the Pro's power.
Noticed a few announcements on twitter but wasn't really following it.
Complete letdown. Maybe this thing has some interesting features which weren't presented now but I doubt it.
All ps4 to support hdr that's mental.
Ps4pro being under £350 is awesome
I recon it was good I mean they announced the pro and catered for people with 4k and lower res tvs I mean what else did people expect
I was so sure they would announce Knack 2: Knackered lol @shogunrok
it was boring. i mean, as a nerd i could talk specs all day, but when they were rambling on about tv resolutions, i was half asleep.
better picture quality Is always appreciated. I just don't want to have to spend a fortune for it. Especially When I'm happy with what I have.
As someone with a 55" 4k HDR TV -YES it delivered - great price too - same as the XB1s 2TB! LMAO
It was a MEH......................
It all looks nice but I'd need a 4k tv on top of the £350 pro to see any benefit. But if you have a 4k setup then it'd be worth considering. Was hoping for some Vr news/game announcements which interests me more at this point but didn't get anything.
100% meh. Mostly because all the trailers were cock-teasers. You see Spider-Man footage and you're like - AWESOME!! And guess what? It's only 25 seconds showing absolutely nothing except that Spider-Man's suit looks really nice up close. Mass Effect - WE'RE FINALLY SEEING GAMEPLAY - surprise! Not a single combat - only 1 minute exploration without showing anything important gameplay wise. Horizon!? YES! - oh, just a Shadow of the Colossus scene without any real kick or impact to it. All the trailers were soul-less and poorly chosen.
That's what ruined it for me.
You were told to watch the language. We will see you in 3 days -Tasuki-
@BAMozzy
All the cool kids have a 60 inch OLED - HDR capable 4K though. If not, meh.....
@vagineer1 Why? When the PS4 Pro is still just a PS4. ALL PS4 games are going to run on it but some will be (upto) 4k HDR whilst the base model will only be up to 1080p!
Short and to the point
@Kidfried I think people were expecting new games because the PS4 Pro and Slim had been leaked so much. I for one was hoping that Sony would try and add in a surprise or 2 to the conference because we knew so much about the consoles, but it seems that that was all they had, which is probably why everyone is saying it was meh
I think this show was always meant to be more low key. They're trying to introduce something whilst not shutting a lot of people out and I think by being a bit more chilled about it is a good way to go. It's more a presser with a hardware focus so it makes sense. If they shouted from the rooftops about PS4 Pro it would be a real anti-climax.
I get what they're trying to do and it makes sense. So for what they had to do I think they did it reasonably well.
The TGS show is the one which will be filled with a few more flash bangs game-wise.
Day one purchase for me and I guess I need one of these 4k hdr tvs to go with it, did anyone catch if they mentioned 4k blu ray?
It was boring, but I think it had to be really - it got the message across without offending people, I think. I want to know, really, how much benefit having one will be if I keep my standard HD set a bit longer (as i dont want to upgrade until next Summer). Once I know a bit more about that I will either get one before Christmas, or wait until the TV upgrade
Ultimately, will FF15 run and look better on a PS4 "Pro" on a standard set?
And as I mentioned in the stream, the design sucks and the name sucks. Pro? Pish off, how many people really use a MacBook Pro in a professional capacity, let alone a PS4. Rubbish buzzword.
@sub12 LMAO - the OLEDs can't get as bright, have more input lag and overall not as impressive in HDR
No compelling reason to upgrade, the PS4 slim will do just fine for people looking to get a PS4. In that sense, the show failed to do its job. Time to turn the attention toward MS and the Xbox Scoprio.
I'm excited. Smoother better and affordable is hitting all the eight notes for me. Forward compatability is good but not essential as I rarely play old games buts it's a nice to have. As soon as it's on amazon I'll oder it
@BAMozzy
Your just jelly
It wasn't a great press conference, but Sony's going to make SERIOUS bank this Christmas. They're going to smash records, no question.
Sony 4k Tv need I say any more I'm a Sony lol
Language -Tasuki-
@Gamer83 I disagree with your stance. They made very clear they don't care whether you have a PS4 or a PS4 Pro - they just want to make sure you have one of the two and keep buying games for it.
@BAMozzy I recon selling ur ps4 now and buying a pro in Nov will cost you £100-£150
@get2sammyb
Agreed. Anyone who didn't buy a ps4 coz it was expensive is now going to get one. Anyone who didn't as wasn't 4k are going to get one.they cornered the market. Job done
Time to go shopping for a 4K TV
@get2sammyb
Well, I guess we'll have to see how things play out but right now I think MS has the better strategy and will be the one smashing more records this holiday season. It's already got a very exciting upgraded Xbox One out and has basically the same lineup as PS4 plus some better exclusives. Meanwhile, Sony is introducing three new pieces of tech, two of which are entirely uninteresting and one that didn't get as big a price cut as I think it needed to in the face of what MS is doing.
I'd like to see the graphics nuts really dig into how much better it makes games look when sitting a reasonable distance from you TV. I know for example your eyes can't physically see the difference between 1080p and 4k unless you are realllly close to the TV, but maybe games will have better colours at higher frame rates with fewer dips, etc.
Meh I'm getting a ps4pro and keep my other ps4
i voted meh.. but i don't really feel as if i'm missing out by having the base PS4, so i don't really feel as i've been left behind. i don't have a 4K tv, and having just bought a 1080p TV a couple of years ago because my old one crapped out, i've no intention of buying a new TV anytime soon. and they're bringing HDR to all models anyway.
That was the very worst Sony conference I've seen in years. Confused messaging, errors throughout - gobsmacked at how absolutely dreadful it was.
One saving grace was the price points, oh and showing PSVR games which have "double the pixels" from the standard version of the game? So glad i cancelled my preorder to watch the dust settle.
Awful!! And no 4k Blu-ray support wow just wow.
I voted Meh. No real announcements we were all not already expecting.
NO UHD disk drive really killed it for me.
I didn't care about the games, I just wanted:
it was mostly about new TVs rather than a new ps4,and the design is ugly
@BAMozzy "great price too - same as the XB1s 2TB! LMAO"
I'm confused as to the meaning of the LMAO at the end of your statement. I know what it stands for, I'm just not sure what you mean. You seem very excited about the Pro, but how is a 1TB system a great price when an XB1S has a 2TB HDD and a 4k ultra blu ray player which retails separately for about $100 (last I checked)?
The only saving grace for me was when they announced all PS4 will have HDR added. Makes me a little less irked they released a brand new console so soon. And yes, it's a new console. Better graphics, bigger hard drive, "different" gameing experience. Just the name is the same.
Microsoft smell my cheese yer mutha...............

@Mega-Gazz True, I think 4k will be the bottom line when it comes to resolution. You can see a difference (at least you can at the Costco TV section demo screens) but after 4k it will be a case of diminishing returns - maybe a bigger vertical space in the TVs of the future. But I cant see there being a point after 4k.
For me as long as we can start to get 1080p 60fps I'm happy. I would happily upgrade if I was guaranteed that. Choppy framerates and fuzzy textures should be a thing of the past.
@rjejr Point was that MS comes out with a XB1s that offers gamers little reason to upgrade! The Pro at least offers a better gaming experience and no dubt will also have a 4k HDR Bluray for the same price. I buy a console primarily for gaming and I think most do - would you rather spend £350 to play games at 720p but have a better HDD or spend the same and have upto 4k visuals on a 4k TV!
The XB1s only benefits those with 4k HDR TV's anyway yet can't offer resolutions above 1080p and it still performs worse than a PS4 let alone a Pro!
I enjoyed it. Started a bit slow but got better.
I'd been thinking of getting a second PS4 for another room, but seems like without a 4k TV it isn't going to matter much. Guess I would still consider this one over a slim if I do pull the trigger.
@Gamer83 @get2sammyb
Or Sony did a good job of not highlighting the difference between the standard and Pro. Sony is trying to sell a new product here without having to give that "you effed us up, Sony" feeling to 40M old PS4 owners. I can't wait when graphics comparison videos starts to pop up between the Neo and Standard.
@BAMozzy ps4 pro has NO UHD 4k drive, the XBOX one S does and is cheaper. Games take advantage of the S such as gears 4 and forza horizon 3 - read the info. Also the S is cheaper and does come with a 2tb option.
So there are a few reasons there for you, hope that helps your understanding
I just don't see enough of a leap to justify a 4K TV and a Neo. I have more sense than money unfortunately Booo!
Meh, Neo isn't for me, but I think its good to have options for people to choose from.
Some people went in expecting an E3 showcase for some reason, I went in expecting a hardware reveal, and got that.
Unless retailers have a trade deal I won't be bothered to buy this
Well DAY 1 PS4Pro 4me The only Sh*t thing was it's impossible to see what the games look like while watching the Sh*ty Internet streaming :-/ + I rather stick with the PS Brand because what is the point of buying a Console with no Exclusives like the Xbox ONE??? Er there is NO point
@BAMozzy it's not really fair to compare the Pro to the XB1s, let's just wait till Scorpio is unveiled then we will compare that to the Pro... it should be interesting!
@Carl-G most gamers who game on consoles like the simplicity of just popping a game on and sitting on the couch, not messing about with a gaming rig and having to upgrade it when it's needed.
Disappointing, disappointing and disappointing.
i wanted a 1080p 60 FPS with better graphics not that 4K 30 FPS nonsense.
@AFCC Same here.
i play on 24" monitor next to pc. Our 42" tv died we just ended up getting really good 32" as kids watch it more than anyone else. My dad has 50" 4k tv looks amazing movies great. But day to day stuff it was just another big tv. If pro delivers on better frame rate etc. maybee Id consider it, But untill Ive seen the proof. (& its games I want to play) Ill keep hands in pocket. I suffer motion sickness & seizures so PSVR is no go for me So its a wait & see. But the presentation was dull as hell.
@themcnoisy check out graphs like this, don't trust the showroom. Your setup will determine if you can even notice 4k.

@Neolit think the 2tb version is £349 - so same price with the 1tb being £299 and the 500gb at £250 (that's price plus a game from what I'd seen).
As for the 2tb versions I think 2tb versions going forward will only be available for special editions such as the gears 4 one (which offers 2tb).
Say what you will but for my money Sony have really missed a trick with the pro and we'll have a weird situation now where the ps4 pro is better than the XBOX s with some things and visa versa but then the Scorpio is coming next year and potentially be way more powerful, so are we going to get a pro 2 in a years time?
As someone who has both consoles I see nothing with either the S or the Pro that makes me want to upgrade, the Scorpio on the other hand if it has Oculus support would be a day one purchase and that's why I think Sony are missing a trick.
@BAMozzy "and no dubt will also have a 4k HDR Bluray for the same price"
And when it does, then it makes sense.
I have a 1080p TV, so I don't really need a 4k drive, but it does look bad when 1 has it and one doesn't for the same price. People compare what they can quantify.
I'll probably be on the fence, Slim vs Pro, until I buy 1. I don't care that they gave the prices today, they didn't announce any bundles, and they will have bundles for the holiday. Kind of like how they announced PSVR was $400 but they only started off selling pre-order $500 bundles w/ the camera.
I wouldn't be surprised if there is so much backlash today over the lack of a 4k drive that the Pro price drops by $50 before release. Or it has a Black Friday sale 2 weeks after it launches.
But I'll probably go where the game bundles are. I like feeling like I am getting a game for free.
ive yet to see a 4k hdr movie for sale anywhere except online.
@Xaessya they got no HDR
Perhaps it's our fault for overhyping this "meeting", but ultimately it's a bit disappointing as it makes you wonder what the actual point is, aside from Sony making more money from extra hardware sales.
At least it doesn't alienate current PS4 owners.
The announcments didn't really effect me in the end, guess I was waiting for Sony to announce a killer feature. Although the lack of new games means TGS and PSX should be better for it. Doesn't look like a European conference is happening though.
Meh.
As for the PS4Pro, they hit all the right price points and that's what matters. If you can trade in a PS4 and get a PS4Pro for $275- $300, that could be a good deal.
...but will the support be there. Because what was shown was vague about needing an HDR-enabled 4KTV to get the full experience and the game demos showed little-to-no difference in quality.
Satisfied with hardware and price, I want to see more of the software. New tomb raider got 60 fps, it look like horizon got 60 fps too, if bloodborne, witcher 3 and gta 5 got upgraded too then ps pro is a must for me.
@MaccaMUFC The price is same so why it isn't fair?
@Xaessya I recommend lg 65inch 4k oled tv, the price is about $5000.
@Splatburst Yup, the last thing sony want is 40m angry gamer complaining their old ps4 is absolute. It seems every game will give you the option to choose between 4k/30 fps or 1080p/60 fps combo.
It is a bit meh - but then it did everything it needed to in terms of not alienating the existing user base and explaining itself.
Personally, I don't see the need for me to upgrade anytime soon - I'm just not as bothered by the specs and features offered. If my current PS4 packs up then I will probably go Pro rather than slim but that is just because I see no point in going less. Strangely, possibly the only thing missing that might have tipped it is the 4kBLu ray player as I'd be tempted to get a good 4k tv (I am old fashioned and do still buy phsyical blu ray).
The only real concern is that I am not sure if this is a good enough challenge to the Scorpio when we find out what and if that is. But hey, this is is uncharted waters for console gaming - the last console to try major mid iteration upgrades was probably the Gensis and look how they worked out.
The conference was pretty much exactly what I expected. It was a decent showing from Sony, but obviously to see the true benefits of 4K and HDR, you need to see it on a display that can utilise that.
Having said that, some of the gameplay shots they were showing did look amazing, and Horizon Zero Dawn looked absolutely gorgeous.
For me personally, I don't think there's much point upgrading. My PS4 works fine (bar the occasional disc eject bug) and I'm not that fussed about the enhancements the Pro will bring. It's not enough to convince me to pay £350, at least not right now. If I'm going to spend that sort of money, it'd be on PSVR, something that will offer new experiences and new games, which is far more important to me than souped up graphics.
I expected Slim & Pro and nothing more, so it did in fact deliver. There was nothing to suggest beforehand that the meeting was going to be some big thing.
@wiiware the price may be the same yeah but that's because XB1 S has a 4K Blu-Ray Player and you do realise that one of them on its own is like £400. It would be fair to compare it to the PS4 Slim then when Scorpio is unveiled that can be compared to the Pro.
Short, sweet and to the point. PS4 slim - pocket friendly entry level for new players to join the PS community. PS4 Pro for those who want to play games at a higher fidelity and performance. I hope there will be a PS4 Pro in white else it'll delay me buying one!
HDR and 4K (or something between). yay! What's not to like?
@3Above Haha if only!
