Battlefield 1 has always looked promising on PlayStation 4 - and now that we've had the chance to get stuck into DICE's World War I shooter, we'd love nothing more than to drag you lot down into the trenches with us. The video that we've embedded above consists of almost one hour's worth of beta gameplay, complete with brutal gunfights, badly damaged tanks, and a whole lot of sand.
Have you been playing the Battlefield 1 beta? What do you think of it? Follow us blindly into the comments section below.

Not a fan of the last BF games i played but this is kinda fun! Don't think I'll get it unless the campaign is strong too, though. (Doubtful!)
I've been really disappointed. It's just not fun for a lot of little reasons that add up.
I'm not a fan of mp in these games but I like the open map, that's pretty cool.
Loving it , really glad I pre-ordered .
I really wanted to like this as I have never played a multiplayer battlefield game but even though the map was awesome and felt like a huge warzone,I'm so used to Call Of Duty maps I felt completely overwhelmed by the sheer size and getting blown up and shot and killed after travelling from one side of the map to the other by people I had never even known were there was clearly frustrating..the most kills I got in a match was a pathetic 1!(once upon a time I came 1st or in top three in alot of Call Of duty matches)
Sorry, but this clearly hasn't converted me..
I know I'm a rare case now a days but I really like the battlefield campaigns more than anything! And by playing the beta and getting a feel for it I'm 100% getting this on day one! I really enjoyed the battlefield 4 campaign and I like the ww1 theme
I've loved the beta. I've always been into history so the fact that this game is set in the past really strikes a chord with me. Sniping is a lot of fun
It's fun, but probably not a buy. For me the longevity of these games is fleeting. Of course they could always offer bots instead of mp alone.
It's beyond average. The spawning also feels like a mess.
It has a more visceral feel, but it feels like there is less to do than in BF4. Not sure, though, cause its a demo.
Played battlefield since the very first one on PC,they are my favorite fps...I think bf1 was a bit of gamble because getting the feel and pace of it just right couldn't have been easy but Dice have got it spot on,I suppose you could argue that the map is a little bland but then it is desert so...really,really enjoying the beta
Enjoying it thouroughly nothing like BFH thankfully. Game's like this will last a long time unlike the crap we've been offered lately.
I was hyped when they announced the WW1 setting and this had a lot to live up to in my expectations. It has met all those expectations the action is fast map is well put together. This will be my goto FPS can not wait for the launch. Pre-ordered last night bring on 11th October.
Im a huge fan of BF2, 3 and 4, but the WW1 setting does nothing for me. I think I might get it but I dont think it will last me as long as BF4 did (still playing it regularly to this day). At least I have some mates I met on BF4 I can play this with so that should increase the fun
It feels like every other Battlefield and the map is absolutely woeful.
My biggest disappointment has to be that it really has no feeling of WWI whatsoever (which makes the title on this article a little strange) and is much more of an aesthetic change over the same old BF multiplayer game.
Man Im loving it really captures that world war feel . And it feels fresh each weapon has a pro and con to it that I like and things like musterd gas can be countered with smoke grenades, real rock paper scissors fun to be had. There are a few nuances that bother me but I expect that those will be ironed out in the full release.
It is an alright beta, but doesn't compare to the BF4 beta imo. Sniping is the only time i can get consistent kills (probably since i always snipe in Battlefields) as well as that pickup heavy machine gun. As far as classes go, i have never NEVER been revived, and feel sorry for people when playing other classes, cuz long range obviously the scout wins, and up close, the 1911 is awesome. Another thing, how do i rank up the class? I have gotten a lot of kills on both support and scout, and well, all classes except the assault, but no rank up
Really loving this, and yeah, it may not feel like WW1 from a technical - historically accurate aspect, but.......it's a hell of a lot of fun, and the fact that it's not another "me too" modern to near-modern FPS is so refreshing
Thanks for taking a chance DICE, this is great stuff.
I have mixed feeling about it. On one hand, a lot of the old-school BF games shine through and I love that.
On the other hand, the balancing feels way off. Whether players get too much health or bullets do too little damage, almost all damage leaves people at 25% health at the first encounter.
Got sprayed by bullets at about 20 feet away from support infantry? 25%
Got shot once by a handgun at the same distance? 25%
Got sniped clearly in the head from behind cover because reasons? 25%
An enemy shot a tank shell anywhere near your vicinity? Your dead and so is anyone else in a 20 foot radius. All my best games have been in tanks, against folks who know how to use assault's anti-tank grenades....that might need some fixing.
This game is online only?
Had some fun playing Verdun tonight as couldn't connected on the Bf1 beta (which I haven't got my knickers in a twist about , it's a beta after all). Don't overlook it , it's a lot of fun and well worth £11.99.
