Star Trek Online launched on the PlayStation 4 this week, and we figured that we'd throw a Vulcan salute in the direction of the MMO so that you can see what all of the fuss is about. Liking what you see? Then trek on over to our YouTube channel where we host regular livestreams of the latest games.

Spent about three hours with it so far, it definitely pays top fan service and is fun in short blasts, I may not be back on it for a week or two though.
Loving the Live Streams Alex. Keep them coming!
I am aprehensive about free to play games as generally I hold them in little regard and would rather pay for the product and be done with it. However Star Trek Online has suprised me its what you would want from a Star Trek game right from the first training mission. Space combat is decent as well. You can also have 5 charcter slots which seems very generous compared to other free to play games. I can see this fighting for my time with ESO for the next few months until VR comes along.
@3Above I'm glad your liking them, and don't worry, there's going to be plenty more to come before 2016 is over.
@dryrain I think it does a real good job of evoking Star Trek as well, but I think it feels far too outdated, especially in terms of how much of an old-school MMO it is. As a result, I think my interest in keeping playing would drop pretty fast.
I quite like the space combat although its a little simplistic. The ground combat I'm not so keen on. Yet to try it though.
@AlexStinton any chance you could get several Push Square editors to join in on a Star Trek Bridge Crew VR game when its out... that would probably be hilarious.
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi Ha! That would be a good. I'll have to see how we could make that work logistically.
well i'm a HUGE Trekker so i'm loving the game but yeah it does look dated but it still gives the look of Star Trek
BTW about the Borg being easier to fight don't forget this is the 25th Century and they have the advanced Borg fighting weapons that Voyager got from Future Janeway and that they brought back with them in the final episode
@FullbringIchigo It would appear I have way more holes in my Star Trek knowledge than I first thought.
I'm glad you're enjoying Star Trek Online, I imagine it's a dream come true for someone like yourself.
Out of interest, have you found any missions that aren't resolved using a phaser or photon torpedo?
@AlexStinton i had one where i had to do some scanning in order to find a cure for a illness but it did still involve some fighting
@FullbringIchigo That's a shame. It was always the best thing about the old Interplay Star Trek adventure games - being able resolve things multiple ways.
@AlexStinton yeah but this is a MMO after all, so it's to be expected
what we need is a Mass Effect Style game set in the Star Trek Universe (Kelvin/Reboot one would probably work better), that would be EPIC
An MMO in a Mass Effect Universe I would drop all games for that. I named my ship in Star Trek The USS Tali and I am of course Commander Sheppard.
@dryrain i called mine the U.S.S Wellington, i have a bit of a fascination with the Napoleonic wars though
plus i had just binge watched Sharpe as well
EDIT: plus when i got my second ship i gave it the same name and registry and put a A on it ^_^
Really enjoying this game. it is dated, yes but I have never really cared about graphics and such, gameplay is always my priority. There have been a a lot of moments that made me grin, like the baseball still being on Sisko's desk along with the dart board O'Brien and Bashir hung in Quark's bar.
I am level 53 already (not had much to do the last week lol) and now I am in the end game, there is quite a lot to do. my only problem right now is a few glitches and the lack of players for group activities.
