God of War will suck up its anger and bottle it up for another day, as director Cory Barlog has insinuated that the reboot will not be at PSX 2016 later this year. Many had hoped that we'd get a brand new glimpse of Kratos and his son at the convention in Anaheim, but it's looking like Sony Santa Monica will be keeping the release underwraps until 2017.
Of course, it's worth mentioning that Barlog had previously ruled out an E3 2016 reveal earlier in the year β only for the release to headline Sony's press conference. This means that the title could potentially still put in an appearance in December, but we'd caution against holding your breath β E3 2017 seems like the likeliest venue for more axe wielding shenanigans.

He says he wont be showing anything, maybe someone else will. I can always dream
Its not as if Sony doesn't have a few things to show off at PSX - A lot of it maybe Hardware but with PS4 Pro finally released, Sony could show off some of the benefits - particularly HDR and the increased resolution - to the general public. It seems some are still not aware of what HDR is and what ut can bring to gaming. The resolution increase can also be shown off in side by side comparisons as well as benefits to 1080p TV owners too. PSVR can also get more coverage and promotion as well.
Of course we all want games and what we can expect to be playing in the future but Sony seem to be focussing a lot on new hardware this holiday season and no doubt would like to sell more of this in time for the 2017 releases. Convincing Fans that the Pro is worth the upgrade maybe a tough sell as its not receiving any 'exclusive' software and a lot of PS4 gamers have 1080p TV's so may not see any 'significant' reason to upgrade unless Sony can show them why they may need or want to. They could also combine this with PSVR too and try to sell both...
I think it's going to be a pretty busy PSX for them to be honest. I'm sure we'll see Crash Bandicoot, Spider-Man, Horizon, Hot Shots Golf, Final Fantasy VII... And we may even get a Bloodborne 2 announcement. That's more than enough for a show like PSX.
Of course, lets not show off anything new on a game that's supposed to release next year... probably getting delayed, just like everything else this generation.
@get2sammyb Agreed. After waiting 10 years for FFXV, 6 or so for TLG, two 1 year delays and counting for Zelda U, and almost every single PS4 game being delayed, I think PSX is best suited for stuff we know is coming within the next 7 or 8 months.
We still haven't heard much about Dreams, wasn't it getting a demo this year? Same for Gran Turismo. And DQH2 hasn't been shown to the west much. Kratos can wait.
I'd love to be wrong, but after last year's I don't have high expectations for this PSX. This is even more of a reason.
@ThroughTheIris56 Probably worth keeping in mind they've done one less press conference this year β presumably to put a bigger emphasis on PSX.
I still have yet to touch God of War, so I don't know how I feel about this reboot. It can take it's time as far as I'm concerned.
@get2sammyb True, I thought TGS was disappointing compared to last year and they seemed to have little presence at PGW, so hopefully you are correct that they're saving for PSX.
Meh, i don't think it's necessary to hype the game up two years before it's release.
Then I would bet that it's getting time on next years E3, possibly with a release date.
@get2sammyb B-B-BUH-BUUUUH - BUH LAD BOWRN TWOOO?>!?!?!
