PlayStation VR has a gigantic launch lineup, and you're probably wondering which titles to buy right about now. While we still haven't sampled everything – the selection really is that big – we have played a pretty large selection, so we feel like we're pretty well placed to point you in the right direction. But which titles have caught our eye?
Well, we discuss our picks in much more detail in the video embedded above, but The Playroom VR is the first no-brainer. Despite being a freebie, this digital download packs a fair amount of content, and is much better than its non-existent price tag may indicate. It's a particularly good pick if you're planning to play with friends and family, as it has some strong asymmetrical multiplayer modes.
It's the shorter experiences that have really caught our eye, though. Batman: Arkham VR and Job Simulator may be polished tech demos, but they both prove the potential of Sony's hardware, and while they both come with steep price tags attached, you will get your money's worth showing them to friends and family once you're done with them yourself.
Other "smaller" experiences that come with our seal of approval include Rez: Infinite, Thumper, Headmaster, Tumble VR, and SuperHyperCube. While none of these games are going to have you queuing up in the cold for a midnight launch, they're actually among the best that Sony's headset has to offer right now; don't knock them because they're not AAA titles.
All in all, even with so few standouts, the PlayStation VR launch lineup succeeds with a breadth of different experiences, occupying various price points and genres
It's those big games that have proven most disappointing thus far. The London Heist is amazing, but it's just one small fifth of the overpriced PlayStation VR Worlds, while RIGS: Mechanized Combat League has left us feeling sick. DriveClub VR is a valiant effort, but it's a compromised version of a much better game, and the virtual reality doesn't make up for the shortcomings.
Which leaves Battlezone to take the crown of best retail game, though it's pushed pretty hard by the fairly priced rails-shooter, Until Dawn: Rush of Blood. Neither of these are going to change the way that you think about games forever, but they're both well-executed in virtual reality, and a lot of fun to play.
All in all, even with so few standouts, the PlayStation VR launch lineup succeeds with a breadth of different experiences, occupying various price points and genres. There have been better launch line-ups, but Sony can be proud of what it's assembled here – and if you're an early adopter, you can rest easy knowing that you're going to be kept busy for a good few months yet.

Nothing in the launch lineup has me very interested. I will buy a couple of these because I need games for the headset, but I would be surprised if they don't start gathering dust by November.
@thedevilsjester with zero snark attached, if nothing in the line up appeals to you why are you buying a PSVR?
I must say thank you Push Square (and especially Sammy) for the work you put into your videos. They are really helpful and seem more like listening to a friends oppinion rather a full blown website. Just registered now, after following your VR run-up on youtube. Keep it up, its great stuff!
Nothing looks good for me. I've tried the headset and it gave me quite a headache, so I literally can't stand the games. Hope everyone enjoys their headsets though!
@thedevilsjester Maybe EVE Valkyrie will convince you then. Or Robinson. Personally, I really see VR as an addition. So it's more about those little experiences (like tumble or Job Simulator) rather than 10hours of constant gaming action.
@Furtin that was the game that I was looking forward to for the longest time and then I come to learn that it's mostly just a multiplayer shooter in a spaceship. I don't want to play multiplayer shooter and the single player campaign for that game seems to be an afterthought.
@Furtin Welcome to the site and forum buddy!
Sammy, will you be revisiting any of the titles when the Pro releases? I wonder if Driveclub VR can approach the standard version for visuals on the new console.
@AhabSpampurse a couple reasons: First, I like to support hardware that I want to succeed. Its a chicken and egg situation where you need people to own it before developers take it seriously, but you also need developers to take it seriously before people buy it. Second, I thought there were going to be games (like EVE) but thats not the game I thought it was going to be, and I had assumed that with the number of launch window titles that Sony hinted at early, that at least one or two would be good. They didnt release the list until very recently.
Ps vr world (I want to try london heist), eve valkyrie (if the single player is good), batman, until dawn, rez infinite, thumper and job simulator for me. After I try the demo of course.
I'm taking a day off for this day and waiting for the game store clerk to call me, they said they're waiting for sony courier to arrive with ps vr today, why sony doesn't send ps vr to store at midnight or the day before rather than sending it on launch day
I've ordered Rez, Thumper, Batman, Wayward Sky, Tumble, and Until Dawn. I'll be getting Battlezone, Job Simulator and Keep Talking. Depending on how close that puts me to $200, I may get some others to take advantage of the $15 credit for spending $100.
I've got Driveclub, Rez, Battlezone, Tumble & Rigs waiting for me later today. I might get Eve and have pre-ordered Star Trek Bridge Crew.
The courier it's with doesn't normally arrive until around 4pm though, which is ages away!
@kyleforrester87 Thank you!
@Drawfull I feel you! I'm refreshing my browser constantly to see, if the courier is on track...
Man this suck, sony courrier will come to game store with ps vr device in the afternoon, I already make plan to pick up vr with my friend and have lunch together in the noon
Some others store say the ps vr will be delayed for one week, I hope my store doesn't have problem with ps vr stock.
I will stick to the resident evil demo and the rise of the tomb raider vr dlc for now. The launch lineup is a joke. Read that The Robinson will come out early next month. Gonna check that one out. The one game I can't wait for right now though is resident evil 7. Gonna be a long time to wait till march.
I just have battle zone and the demo disc at the moment. To me I know I am taking a huge risk but I agree with @thedevilsjester that I want VR to succeed and I loved the experience. I can't afford the move controllers as well this month so just using controllers so sticking with those that don't need it.
Sony are playing a long game with VR. All is first adopters are really their marketing tool so we show others.
Here they lie really interests me and at just £15.99 you really can't grumble. I've got sooo many others that are on my radar too. I have got batman, driveclub, until dawn, ps vr worlds. The demo disc containing the 18 demos is available on the UK PSN too. So that should keep me busy
This is expensive enough that I'll treat it with my new console rule: I need at least eight games that are exclusive to the hardware to be confirmed for release in America. So far, Summer Lesson is the only thing that looks really interesting to me, and that won't be coming over, so... yeah.
I am looking forward to Resi VII, but I don't need PSVR to play it.
@blourf
What? How is the launch lineup a joke? Man, when you aren't interrested in VR thats one thing. But EVE, Batman, Thumper (and yes, in VR its like another game and so much better), Battlezone are great games. If you arent into Job simulator and Drivelub of course. Like I said, you probably arent into VR...
I think it's one of the better hardware launch lineups personally. There's a good mix of brands, some new stuff, big and small, different genres. It's really varied.
Like I fully take @Ralizah's point of view, but I'm not sure how @blourf can describe it as a "joke", personally. Each to their own.

@get2sammyb even though I found a couple of great indies on ps4, I mainly got the console to play games with great stories and graphics, i.e. mostly AAA. None of the vr launch titles offer that. I too bought the psvr because I want it to succeed, and because I hope to get some cool games for it in the future. If that wasn't the case none of the launch titles would have ever convinced me to drop 450$ on it (minor rip off in Singapore).
Which is enough reason for me to personally call the lineup a joke. No deeper meaning behind it.
Looking very much forward to your review of Robinson.
@Furtin batman vr is the only one I would consider myself interested in among the games you listed. But reading a couple of reviews made me decide to wait for a discount. Obviously I wouldn't have bought the headset if I wasn't interested in VR. setting higher standards/expectations and not being satisfied with tech demos (not all of the launch titles are tech demos, you're right) shouldn't be interpreted otherwise.
I'm more than happy with the Rise of the tomb raider vr dlc, have high hopes for Robinson, and playing resident evil 7 remains my main objective on vr.
I also hope alien isolation will get a vr patch/dlc whatever. I'm psyched about the possibilities. Simply not impressed by the launch titles.
The underwater demo is cool, even love hitting the ball around in the vr worlds demo hall. The driving game would be super awesome if I had a wheel. That one is on me.
@JaxonH Thanks for the informative list !
@ToddlerNaruto
Man I'm neck deep in this VR launch. Got so many good games to play. Had to put aside my Lost Odyssey, Paper Mario Color Splash and Dragon Quest VII playthroughs, and I was deep into all those games.
Building up to the best games. So far I tried PSVR Worlds (despite panning I actually think it's pretty good, London Heist is best but Deep Sea Diving is great to show parents or ppl who don't know about games, and Scavengers Odyssey is a definite sleeper hit), also played Thumper which is like Amplitude in VR kinda, it's great, and Tumble is a perfect match. Basically Art of Balance but in VR. It's so cool. These games don't sound that appealing reading reviews or even watching game play, but playing them is totally different. They become these amazing experiences you could never even imagine.
Which is what I suspected. The best VR games will include many that didn't look appealing in a 2D trailer.
@get2sammyb @Furtin
After experiencing 5 Korean babes dancing around me in a 360 video I would like to retract my previous comments on how underwhelming the launch lineup is. Vrideo is my new favorite app. Hurray to all the 360 media to come!
