Even a couple of years after its original release, inFAMOUS: Second Son remains one of the prettier titles on the PlayStation 4. And it's about to get that little bit more beautiful, as Sucker Punch has just released the title's promised PlayStation 4 Pro patch. Weighing in at 3.6GB, the update brings 4K resolution support and HDR compatibility to the superhero release.
This is just one of many "older" titles that's being updated to take advantage of Sony's new console, and with all of the lighting effects, we reckon that it's going to really pop with HDR enabled. Remember, you'll be able to take advantage of the contrast enhancing feature with any PS4, though you will need the supercharged system to enable the title's 4K resolution.

Is it automatic download? I don't have a pro and I don't want this taking more space from my HD.
@ferrers405 Ermmm... Given that it's a single player game you should be able to just stop it downloading and play the game.
Wow. I loved this game. Be worth a play through again in 4K beauty.
I must admit I'm sorely tempted to sell my Xbox one and wii u to get the PS4 pro.
It'll be my second PS4.
Argh decisions. Plus an angry wife to get around!!!
Still haven't played this one. Can't decide if this update means it's more likely or less likely to be on PS+, I've seen it on sale numerous times for under $20.
Any word on a sequel yet?
@rjejr We don't know what Sucker Punch is working on yet.
@get2sammyb not that I'll play it but you know days ago my PS4 downloaded a patch for LBP3 and I didn't even knew until it finished.
Cool, you don't always see this kind of support in the industry.
@rjejr They are making another open world game if job dad's from over a year ago are to be believed, it's why many were thinking they were doing the Spiderman game.
As for the game itself, while I felt the story was a bit lacking it was still the most fun Infamous game.
Does anyone agree they want a infamous collection, sly cooper collection, onimusha collection on ps4?
@ferrers405 Yeah, it does it all automatically.
Nice! I thought it was only going to be First Light originally. I already got my plats, but I'm glad to see some of the older (awesome) games getting upgraded.
Based on NathanUC's comment, is First Light also getting a 4K/HDR update?
@Topov81 Yes.
This game and killzone shadowfall is the first game I bought on ps4, good game and delsin is a fun character, worth it at $60
I hope there are option to choose between better graphics or better frame rate like rise of the tomb raider on the pro.
Graphics for this was stunning away.
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi " they may decide to never PS plus 1st party... ?"
Well, they might not, but I do think it's good marketing for new games in the series so if there is a Knack 2, then Knack 1 goes on PS+. Though if not, I'm ok w/ many cheap PS+ purchases for around $5 or $10. Actually it's bettetr to buy them, then they don't go away. I actually bought both TR reboot and Bioshock Infinite after my PS+ expired before I finished each game.
@adf86 @get2sammyb "We don't know what Sucker Punch is working on yet."
For the past 2 years? Well 18 months give or take. Maybe at PSX?
@ferrers405 In the PS4 system menu you can uncheck "auto download" for games updates, as I did, but it's pretty useless because they don't care about the fact you unchecked it. I've capped internet so I have to pause every download I don't need as soon as it starts... My download queue is bigger now than some of my games...
EDIT: If you pause an update, leave it in the queue; if you stop and delete it, the system will try to download it again...
@andreoni79 thank you, I didn't knew I could just let it there.
@rjejr Maybe, though I suspect more E3 time but it's not impossible considering Sucker Punch seem to average a release every 3 years.
@ferrers405 two things to note. First is that 3.6 GB downloaded is not 3.6 GB installed. Updates generally replace lots of existing resources, making the overall impact much less. You could, in theory, download a large patch that actually makes the overall installed size smaller (though thats unlikely in this case) Second you will get huge benefits from this on the normal PS4 if you have an HDR TV.
Wish there was a way to get the dlc that lets you play the missions that are about cole, I mean it's been 2 years can I at least buy those already?
@sonicmeerkat You can buy Cole's Legacy separately on eBay.
I got the little sheet with the code for $10.
Either that or buy the Limited Edition in used like new quality for $35+ on Amazon.
@thedevilsjester
There is no available 1080p tv with HDR option on the market. So this update is useless for non PS4 pro owners.
@99miki Correction - This update is useless for non 4K HDR TV owners. I'm gonna hook up my OG PS4 to my dad's new 4K Samsung so I can see how the HDR looks.
@99miki is not useless, I'm playing right now in my UH8500 hdr tv with regular ps4 infamous and last of us in hdr, and both look good
@99miki what @Boomtown_Raider said. You are conflating PS4 Pro and 4k as if they were mutually exclusive. PS4 + 4k (HDR) TV, gets benefits just like PS4 Pro + 1080p no HDR gets benefits. You don't need both (though you get the most bang for your buck that way) That being said, gaming is an expensive hobby, and trying to participate in it, as if it were not, will always leave you behind.
In my opinion, that game was more of a tech demo than an actual game. Very mediocre, shallow, super short for an open world game and very little stuff to do. The game world feels dead. I believe i finished it with 90% completion in 8 - 10 hours on normal. Even Watch dogs had alot more fun stuff going on in the game world.
Second son looks pretty indeed with all the particle effects, but I could not care less if the core game is boring.
@ToddlerNaruto I guess that's what I gotta do, the ebay not the amazon.
@sonicmeerkat All you have to do is search for Cole Legacy on eBay, it should be the first result.
Interesting, so the HDR part would work on a regular PS4 as well...right?
I'm trying to see the bright side of these Pro patches for non-pro owners....
