Ah, of course: it's that time of the year where we all collectively hold our breath praying for the PlayStation Network to stay online. With many of you across the pond getting ready for Thanksgiving, you may be wondering when the PlayStation Network is going to go down. Well, we can report that it's literally just collapsed; the web is already awash with angry gamers.
Sony's yet to comment on the outage, but we'll of course keep you informed as and when we know more. For now just sit tight, and pray to Kaz Hirai that this is just a temporary blip.
Update (21:15PM GMT): Sony's said that it's got engineers working to restore the PSN right now.

What is this, 2012?
I would be at least 50% less annoyed if their default error wasn't "Down for Maintenance."... They do understand what actual maintenance is right? If I asked for a 24/7 maintenance window at work, I'd be asking for another job.
I have been playing MWR and Lego Jurassic World all day and haven't experienced any problems at all. Maybe it's just a small amount of users.
Seems to be coming back online now.
Maybe they should take my advice on a recent forum post and start a new network
Just after a sale starts too... really convienent!
Standard.
no issues here. Been online since this morning. Going on 12 hours and no issues with PSN. Mustn't be everyone.
They need to go back to the old PS plus membership prices, it's embarrassing that Sony raised them and it's been down a few times since then.
In my experience, there have been alot more problems since the increase...I don't think Sony should have raised the price till everything was 100%.
Haven't been offline but I will say ever since the early part of September and even after the recent update, my PS4 has been acting extremely inconsistent in regards to the store, communities, 'what's new' section and the description under games on the main page. The paranoid cynic in me says Sony is f'ing with me on purpose to get me to upgrade to a Pro but it's not f**king happening!
@Pamela
I wish it were a 'few' times, it seems like we've been seeing this same article on a week-to-week basis. Might be an exaggeration but it's certainly been more frequent than it should. I agree it's embarrassing but the price hike to me spoke of typical arrogant Sony once it gets ahead and I kind of take pleasure in seeing all these companies get slapped in the face a bit when they start to get too big headed. Happened to Nintendo with the N64 and Wii U, happened to Sony last gen, happened to MS at the start of this one and now it's Sony's turn again. They never learn.
Seems this effected some people. I had 2 PS4's with the same account, one went offline the other didn't :/ seemed like PSN needs to be reworked. It can feel like a chicken with it's head cut off sometimes.
@wittypixel It seems like it only effected a few. I was on and off all day yesterday playing various games and didn't notice any interruptions to PSN.
