Loving your PlayStation VR headset but worried it may be bombing? Well, firstly, as far as we can tell, the unit has more or less completely sold through its initial allocation, so it's currently a case of Sony keeping stocks supplied. But if you needed any reassurance, it's revealed in its latest financial report that sales of the device are "on track".
We still don't know exactly how many units the platform holder shipped, but it's probably safe to assume that it's the market leader in "high-end" virtual reality right now – after all, over 50,000 headsets were sold at launch in Japan alone. The manufacturer's said that it's upping production through the end of the year, so hopefully it can keep retail replenished.

Deserves to be - it's superb
Been sold out in my local stores everytime stock came in .
Yeah there's no stock where I am either.
It'll be interesting to see whether PSVR has legs. Not really surprised that initial supplies have sold out, but I wonder whether it'll still be selling strong after the holidays.
@ShogunRok Yep.. thats where I think it'll start falling down - after christmas/NY.
VR is cool.. but the longer I play with it, the more obvious its shortcomings are and I would suspect that once people who dont have it, play it at their friends house for longer than a couple of hours or so the realisation will set in that its maybe not quite there yet for proper mainstream gaming. Its cool but its probably not quite £450 cool imo, if you require the move controllers and camera.
And then we have the Pro about to launch.
I still cant help but feel that Sony have released the Pro a year early. They would have probably had 2 Christmas sales wrapped up. Rather that fighting itself over the course of one.
Thank you Summer Lesson-Hime.
I never had a doubt Sony wouldn't make a good profit early on, I question if they'd stick with it, if it went through a rough patch.
I imagine so, it seems they're handling production in small waves instead of flooding the market with millions and expecting all units to sell. 2017 is where PSVR really needs to prove itself.
I never doubted it's ability to launch well and do respectably for the first few months.
It's after that I'm worried about
Got mine yesterday, had a problem with the lens misting up and the driving demo made me motion sick,so will be interesting to see how I get on with it long term or it has to go 😖
